BOLT (Breakthrough One-key Lock Technology) has solved that problem by designing a line of locks that can operate with a key you already have handy - your vehicle ignition key.
When you insert your own key into the cylinder, spring-loaded plate tumblers move up and down until they are matched exactly to that key. The first time the key is rotated, the cylinder is uniquely coded to that key. When the key is removed, the cylinder moves into the locked position. When the key is turned again, it will rotate to the unlocked position.
BOLT is particularly useful in commercial applications. Imagine being able to send a crew without having to sign out multiple keys for a work truck, trailer, hitch pins, and equipment locks. With BOLT, the vehicle key becomes a master key. It opens all those locks and you no longer have the hassle of getting to a work site only to find that you've brought the wrong keys.

I’m so happy with my 2018 Toyota trailer hitch lock. It was easy to program and I was able to install the trailer hitch plug and lock it in. It’s great not to have an extra key or remember a combination. I also ordered a heavy duty hitch to use with any type of trailer.

Fast delivery. Fits my 2016 Toyota 4Runner. I inserted the ignition key, turned it till it stopped. It's instantly coded to my key. Less one more key to carry. The lock looks and feels solid!
Delivery was fast, lock was very easy to code to my key, works just like it is advertised.
Will give me peace of mind knowing it will be much more difficult for someone to take my hitch.
And I can use this on several hitches.

This is the third one I’ve bought. These locks handle the cold and water just fine. Never had a problem with them.
Excellent product well made Locking mechanism worked perfect I put in my fj cruzier key turned clockwise and it worked. Bought a drawytite trailer hitch and wiring kit both went on without any problems without lifting my car. Etrailer is the best. Thanks George

I purchased this item because the other locking Hitch Receivers require you to carry an additional key. I already have enough keys to worry about!
The construction of this item is solid and secure. I no longer worry about the theft of my trailer.
The best part is that my ignition key is the same key that I use to open this.

It has been a year since I purchased this trailer hitch lock and it has performed perfectly! With the lock cover in place, no dirt ever gets into the lock mechanism. I am so glad that I found this product!
Excellent idea and product. Having the receiver key with me always Is a great idea and saves me the hassle of keeping different keys and Locks. I am probably going to buy another one. Very well built. Heavily sealed in a rubber case and a good Rubber cap to keep water, dust and dirt out. I inserted my truck key and turned and it was set. Works great.

It is exactly what I wanted. Don't have to carry an extra key of remember another code. etrailer was super to work with. I accidentally ordered the wrong locking pin and the company help make it right.

Easiest lock one car one key
What a slick setup. Lock and pin all in a line and rubber cover over keyhole. Since it uses my Toyota tailgate key it is easier than fumbling for yet another key to get ready to hook up a trailer.

I still like all of the Bolt products and am still using them. I would say that I do not recommend the Bolt padlocks as while they have the same great key setup I think the shackle is too long, too thin, and too exposed for easy removal by a small grinder or bolt cutter. Otherwise great stuff. I do wish they actually made a hockey puck style padlock instead
Great lock that’s easy to key to my ignition key
Love this receiver lock. Keyed it for my Toyota Tundra. I also have several of the BOLT hitch pins lock and a BOLT padlock. Very convenient to use your ignition key for these. Better yet, have a cheap, non-chipped copy of your ignition key and keep it on a different keychain and use it for your locks, to open your vehicle doors and tailgate, etc. even while your ignition key is in the ignition. When you have a non-chipped key copy, be sure to NOT try the non-chipped key in your ignition as it will not start the vehicle and will disable it if you try it a few times. But non-chipped key copies are a economical (a few dollars to have some made) and besides using the for these locks, your tailgate and doors, you can also hide a copy on your vehicle to unlock your doors if you lock your chipped keys in the passenger compartment.
My Hitch Lock is used to keep a SuperBumper in place on my 2014 Toyota Tacoma. It’s still weathertight and functioning perfectly. It’s great not to have to carry a different key just for this purpose.

just what I needed and would have to say trailer has been really easy to deal with compared to other online stores as they had the product in stock and shipped when they said they would. honesty goes a long way with me
The lock was defective not allowing the pin to go in. After the 3rd one was sent to me and it was bad I was done and moved on to a different product. I will say the etrailer work with me every time and had no problem get my refund.
This is a very stout lock. The key 'programming' worked well. The only downside, hence the 4 out of 5 stars, is that the large diameter and length of the lock mechanism make it difficult, but not impossible, to get my safety chain hooks into their attachment points, as they are located directly below where the lock sits when it is in place. This is not a reflection of the quality of the lock, just the way it works with my specific vehicle, a 2008 Toyota 4 Runner Sport V8. I'm still pleased with it overall.
Overall great product, only drawback is that it protrudes into the opening for hooking up the safety chains and depending on the type of connection can make it impossible to connect the chain without first removing the lock from the pin.
Good product. Key is coded in no time. Very easy and feels secure
