Video Transcript for Review of SeaSucker Vacuum Mount - SS83FR

Jeff: Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're going to take a look at this SeaSucker six inch vacuum mount with the aluminum handle. Now this is a six inch pump action vacuum cup. Has this V-shape aluminum handle that'll let you hang or secure a variety of objects to most horizontal or vertical non-porous surfaces without using any tools. Uses this pump action vacuum that'll create 210 pounds of pull strain without denting or scratching the surface that it's attached to. Take off the protective cover and you can see here's the nice hard rubber cup that will supply the suction, and you can attach it or remove it to a surface in seconds.

Now I am going to demonstrate that later in the video, I'm going to attach it to this to show you how it works. Now, the aluminum handle right here, this will let you clip or hang items to it when it's installed. Also, on the top of the housing you'll notice, let me zoom in a little bit here and you'll be able to see, has these two slotted holes. This will let you hang or bolt a variety of objects to it. And the way you do it is just remove these four screws, take off the housing, bolt your accessory, or whatever you need, to those holes, put the housing back in, and screw in the four screws. You're all ready to go.

Also, if you notice in the very middle, it has a one quarter inch by 20 stainless steel threaded insert, and that'll let you attach other SeaSucker products to the top of the housing. They have the different accessories that'll screw into there, and they have ones that are flex mounds, camera mounts, and for marine use, they have cup holders, fishing rod holders, that'll attach to the insert right there. So there's many different accessories you could attach to this. Now all the metal parts are high-grade stainless steel, except for this handle. This is aluminum. Even the dprings inside the pump for stainless steel for extra durability in the elements.

Let me zoom back out here. The housing on it is a hard plastic construction, it's lightweight yet durable. I mentioned the hard rubber cup. And then if you've noticed, we have this protective cap here that will prevent the vacuum cup from hardening or cracking, all you have to do is just stick it in there and then go all the way around and push the rubber cup into that, and that'll hold that cover in place so it protects it. Now it does include everything shown here.

It has a nice set of instructions that'll describe how this operates and how you maintain it. And it even comes with this little tube of waterproof lubricant to help prevent the plunger from sticking.Basically what happens is, depending on where you use this, you might get dirt or grime in there where the plunger is, and over time, when you start pushing that plunger might stick and get sticky in there. So what you want to do is basically you can just pull out this plunger, clean it off, put some of this lubricant around it, insert it back in, and then it will operate just like it was when it was brand new. You can see it's a nice black color, part is made in the USA. The load rating on this is 70 pounds. The pull rating is 210 pounds. Dimension on this. We put a ruler on that, you can see all the way across is right at six inch diameter. Weight on it is only about eight ounces. So what I'm going to do now, I'm going to slide this metal place here. You can see it's a pretty heavy steel part that I happen to have nearby here, and I figured we can show you how this mount would work. So basically what you do when you'll go to install this, you'll clean the mounting surface that you're going to install the cup to, and then you'll also want to make sure you clean the face and the cup so there's no dirt on there. And then they recommend, and they even stamp it on here, they recommend to moisten the sealing edge of the cup. So I'm just going to wet my finger and put it all the way around there. And then what you'll do is you want to go ahead, and say you can install it right there, you do and install it to where you can see this orange band. So that's critical because that's going to show you the suction is on there. And then what you'll do is just hold it up against the surface and then start pumping that plunger and the cup will start attaching. You could feel it attaching. And then what happens is once you pump it enough, you'll notice that that orange band will disappear. And just like that, you don't see that orange band anymore. And that means you have enough suction in there. So it will hold anything you hook to it.Now I do want to recommend that if this is attached for a time and you start seeing the orange again, that orange band, just pump it again to put more suction in there. And then to remove this, it's pretty simple. There's a tab here and one up here. All you have to do is pull up on that tab and you can see it releases it very simple. So same way if we want to install it over here, just hold it up against there and then just start pumping that plunger. You can feel it getting harder, and as you keep pumping it, eventually that orange band, just like that is gone and you're all hooked up, ready to go. That should do it for the review on this SeaSucker six inch vacuum mount with the aluminum handle.
