A Safe Ride is a Comfortable Ride

If you're looking for the best tie-downs for your camper, frame-mounted is the way to go. The frame is the most solid part of your entire vehicle, so it just makes sense to attach your camper to something that's not going to warp, bend, or twist. Even more importantly, the camper's center of gravity will sit lower and its weight will be spread across the entire bed. This avoids a top-heavy load perched on top of your bed rails that's liable to sway and get pushed around by crosswinds. The camper's not going to shift or slide around while you drive; it's going to stay put, and your truck is going to handle just like it does without a camper.

Quick Tip: If you have a plastic or spray-in bed liner, it's important that you use a rubber mat under the camper to eliminate any sliding or bouncing.

Don't Ruin Your Truck's Looks

how will tork lift tie downs look on my truck

Frame-mounted tie-downs are also a great pick for preserving your truck's good looks. The brackets install on the frame, tucked nearly flush with the underside of the vehicle. Remove the arms from the brackets when you're not hauling your camper, and the brackets will be barely visible.

Custom Fit, No-Drill Installation

Completely custom to your vehicle, the tie-downs attach to exisiting holes in your frame so that there's little to no drilling and no need for any modifications. Because they're custom, you'll want to use our in-house application guide to make sure you get the exact right model. The tie-downs you need might be different depending on what type of hitch or other accessories you have.

Securing Your Camper

TorkLift Tie Down Example

Once the tie-downs are installed, use a set of turnbuckles (sold separately) to secure the camper to the tie-downs. The shank on each arm has 2 pin holes so you can choose how far out they extend, that way the turnbuckles can reach the anchors on your camper without making contact with your truck. Tighten the turnbuckles to the correct level of tension (not too tight!).

where to put camper tie downs

Make sure the anchor points are offset from the tie-downs instead of lined up with them so that they will hold your camper from multiple angles. This is important for keeping your camper from shifting. Two holes in the attachment plate of the tie-downs let you find the best angle for you camper anchors.

The package arrived very quickly and intact. I have a 2020 Ford F250 SD Lariat short bed with a factory hitch. The tie-downs were really easy to install although the hitch adapter plate (see attached photo) which is supposed to attach to the end of the tie-down would not fit inside the tubing on my factory installed hitch so I installed without it and it is tight and snug

Thank you for your photo. Torklift does recommend to use the hitch adapter for the 2020 Ford F-250. The adapter does need to be turn horizontally to fit inside the hitch not vertically.

This is my second set for the TorkLift tie-downs, and I would not use any other type. We use it daily; our camper never comes off as we are constantly on the move. In the event we have to remove it for vehicle service such as alignment, it is easy to remove and get back on.

by:

Torklift makes a top quality product. Installs easily once you understand the instructions. Very solid frame/hitch mount, never have a concern about them flexing or breaking. The second set I've purchased (the first set were sold with the truck they were installed on).

by:

Installed on 2020 F250 Superduty. Easy to install rear tie downs only took about 45 minutes. I love the fact there is no drilling or moving existing things. Just straight bolt on and seem to be rock solid.

by:

They have worked great. From Michigan to Alaska and back, no problems! They were easy to install and would recommend them to any truck camper owner.

by:

Great solid product and easy to install. Solution to your upgrade to a dually for the truck camper.

by:

Super easy to install. I had a bed step mounted and had to remove it to install these, which is kind of a bummer, but not a deal breaker!

by:

My rear tie downs took a little longer to get here than the fronts but etrailer has some of the best customer service on the web. Always quick to respond to any inquiry. And shipping speed was excellent too. Etrailer is my go to for all things involving my truck camper.

by:

Installation is about 5 minutes...they install in the sides of the receiver tube.

No problems.

by:

The Package arrived on time and all was correct. It was easy to track the order through the shipping process, I found the staff easy to work with and they appeared to be genuinely interested in providing good service.

Torklift tiedowns are working great, great fit, no problems with install.

by:

Love these. I wish there was some cool end caps to go with them.

by:

We couldn't be happier with the Torklift Camper Tiedowns. Install time was minimal and fit and finish couldn't be better. Bolt fishing the frame on the passenger-side of a 2017 F350, is slightly different than the instructions suggest. But, you can't blame Torklift for not being able to keep up with every Ford engineer who gets a wild hair, to slot a new hole in the frame on Friday @ beer-thirty. Thanks again, etrailer. Ordering was a breeze, the package tracker was awesome and communication was excellent.

by:

If you have the factory installed trailer hitch these things take about 10 minutes to install with no modifications necessary. They work great

by:

This system for securing your slide in camper is really good. Instalation is straight forward. Highly recommend.

by:

Great installation was very easy. received front and back tie downs two days ahead of what I was told. Customer service rep was very helpful. A great asset to your company, very knowledgeable.

by:

Easy install on a 2017 Ford F-350 Lariat w/ factory hitch.

by:

Went together easily, perfect fit.
Have
used the manufactures other products and they are excellent products.

very good, just 1 bolt to remove from RUSTING until needed again

by:

This installation was easy. If installation is on F250, the additional notched plates must be attached to the tie-downs. This prevents rotation inside the receiver tube. A couple of ratchet extensions will be required to hold the bolt head. The finished installation is secure and looks good. The welding appearance could be better, but seems strong enough.

The tie downs are still secure and work great. These rear tie downs will get alot of road grime and mud, so keep them clean.

by:

Fast delivery. Super easy to install.

by:

They fit great.

by:

I've had these installed about a year now. Have been on trips from Missouri to California and back and another trip to Wyoming/Colorado.New Mexico and back.
Tie downs worked as expected. The installation isn't too bad, having someone to help makes the installation easier.
The one thing that could be better is that you have to fish bolts thru the frame to install these -- that wasn't too bad but I'm not sure how you would ever get them back out to move to another vehicle. I trade pickups every few years and would want to move them from one to the other.
I guess I'll cross that bridge when the time comes.

Ok its been another year. The tiedowns are still working great. I did sell 2018 F250 and managed to fish the bolts back thru the frame. A couple of them I had to cut a slot into the end of the bolt to hold it with a screw driver while loosening the nut. It would be helpful if the threaded end had a slot or smaller head on it for a wrench. I just bought a 2020 F350 Dually that these will go back on in a few weeks.

by:

The installation is not difficult! Just make sure when ordering you don't unintentionally change your vehicle when scrolling! Etrailer will make you pay to send mistakes back to them!!

by:

Install on the fronts isn’t too bad. Did it by myself in an hour or so. They do clear my factory extended running boards. Easy to use and then clean and out of the way when not in use.

by:

Super easy install! Looks like factory accessory.

by:

Tie down was exactly what I needed for a 2020 F250 as etrailer match/ search engines determined. Tie down was delivered promptly as promised.

A year later: Im frustrated with the rattling noise in these rear tie downs. I clunks and rattles right through frame and into the cab. Ive tried shimming, packing, and tightening the fast gun turnbuckles helps a little but cant make the noise go away.... Id lower my rating but dont see how on this update...

Thank you for your follow up. It sounds like you need an adapter for the F-250 hitch to take up the extra space in the hitch receiver. It did come with the tie downs. If you don't have the adapter and hardware any longer, I can have Torklift give you a call.
