Handrail for First Generation 3-Step MORryde Steps

We saw one of these installed on a buddy’s rv at a rally and new we had to have one. I only wish I didn’t take so long to actually install it. It’s study, it’s stylish, and it’s functional as anything. Makes getting in and out of our Chinook Concourse a breeze. Now WE are the envy of the rest of our camping club! I have 2000 Chinook RV with a mostly decorative acrylic handle on the back. I was going to be traveling for 10 days with my mom--who is in her late 60s with two replaced knees and a previously broken hip--and knew that handle was not going to cut it for her to actually use getting up the steps. I tried hiring a local welder to fabricate a custom hand rail for me, but they all blew me off. I do not have a MORyde step system but thought the design of this could work with what I do have. And it did! The plan was to use it for the trip with my mom then remove it. We didn't get to take the long trip for other mechanical reasons, but I love the hand rail so much I left it on and it's still there 11 months later. I use it every single time I go up or down the steps. I use it to pull myself up off the ground when working on a project below the rear of the RV. It is wonderful! My mom and dad have both now taken shorter trips with me, and they also love it and relied on it for safely climbing into/out of the RV. Some other members of our Chinook Club saw it at a rally or the online group and have added it to their to-do list. Some have already bought and installed it too. While I can't comment on how it works with the correct steps, it works wonderfully the way I needed it to. We added one extra bolt hole and upgraded to slightly longer stainless steel bolts. It's sturdy, feels secure and has weathered well. It still looks new! The price was a fraction of what a welder would have charged to build a custom rail, and now I'm the proud owner of heavy duty drill bits and skill drilling through a steel plate to install it.1311458

Very easy and quick installment. Works like a charm. I am shorter so it really helps not to have to reach up to the other handle on our fifth wheel. Nice support for coming out of the trailer too. I'm only giving a 3 star because customer service was GREAT! The box I received was beat up and was evident that it had been sent back as a return. The hand rail was manufactured incorrectly, not etrailers fault, but I am sure it was a return for the same reason and was sent out again as a new unit.1293429

This hand rail works with 1st generation MORryde StepAbove, StepAbove with strut-assist, and Quick Connect quad step models. Do you have one of those steps listed?

I have gotten confirmation that your steps part # MR93RR is a Second-Generation Step, and will not fit with the Handrail for the First-Generation part # MR48RR. The first- and second-generation steps are built slightly different so they would not be able to fit each other. You would need the Handrail for the Second-Generation Steps part # MR83AR in order for them to line up properly.
