Video Transcript for Review of Kats Heaters Vehicle Heaters - KH35203

Michael: Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com Today we're going to take a quick look at the Y-cord Thermostat for your engine block heaters. This Y-cord lets you power and thermostatically control through 120-volt engine block heaters. It is designed for your Kat's Heaters Frost Plug Style Engine Block Heater, but it can also work with many other different 120-volt block heaters, so you should be able to use it for yours as well.We do have an oil thermostat that's automatically going to shut the heater off when it reaches 75 degrees Fahrenheit. It's going to turn the heater on when your ambient engine block temperature drops down to below 55 degrees Fahrenheit. So it's going to make sure everything is staying in that 55 to 75 degree range.

This threads into your oil pan. It does have a half inch MPT 00:00:56 threading to it. If you don't already have an opening available in your oil pan, you can make an opening and use the bushing that you see, the part number on the screen there for. And that's going to allow you to mount your thermostat to your oil pan. But if you already have an opening in that oil pan, you won't need that bushing.

So it just depends on your situation. Our molded female end is going to plug into our heater and then the aluminum locking out here secures the plug to the heater. On the far end, we do have our male plug that's going to connect to your standard 120-volt AC outlet. When I zoom out here, you can see that from end-to-end, this is going to be right about six feet long. So from your plug out to where it's going to plug in to your heater is going to be six feet and then the same plug to your thermostat is about six feet. So going to give you lots of links there and make sure that you can reach to all your different components. This is made here in the USA.

So you can trust that it's made to the high quality standards that we've come to know and trust for products made here in the US and it does come with a one-year limited warranty. So it is going to do a good job for you. And if you we're to have any problems within that first year, you could give us a call. We'd help you out with that. But overall, I think it's going to be a great option.

Make sure that your oil isn't getting too cold when you're out in the cooler environments, those sort of things. So if you are looking for a thermostat for your engine block heater, this is going to be a great option for you. That's going to complete our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com Thanks for watching.

  • What is the Temperature Range of Kat's Oil & Coolant Immersion Heater KH30903
The Kat's Heaters Oil and Coolant Immersion Heater # KH30903 produces constant heat; it is not thermostatically controlled. You can regulate the heat by the wattage you use. However, I recommend using a Y-Cord with a thermostat on it, like # KH35202, which automatically shuts the heater off between 100 F and 120 F, or # KH35203 (55-75 degrees). I've included a couple short videos for reference at the bottom of the page.
