Speaker 1: Today, we're going to take a look at the Dexter 12 1/4 Inch E-Coat Passenger Side Hub and Rotor Disc Brake Assembly with the 8 on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern for 7000 pound axles. Now, this trailer brake assembly will make a very easy to upgrade from drum brakes to disc brakes for better performance. Disc brakes are going to be more consistent stopping even at highway speeds, and dramatically shorter stopping distances, and disc brakes are easier and less expensive to maintain. This kit will include one full brake assembly for passenger side of the trailer. It includes everything laid out here on the table. One E-coated hub and rotor assembly, the one E-coated ductile iron caliper, two of the semi-metallic brake pads, one E-coated caliper mounting bracket with the insulation nuts and a little tube of thread sealer. It also comes with the bearings, both inner and outer bearings, the bearing races, which are pre-installed into the hub, the oil seal, the oil cap, and the lug nuts. Now, these parts have a nice E-coat finish on them, provide corrosion resistance for fresh water and limited salt water use. The rotor design is a vented rotor, which will help regulate temperature, prevent overheating.
The included hub here will replace your existing hub. The caliper they use is a self-adjusting caliper. It ensures maximum surface contact for smooth, equal braking. The pads used with these calipers is a semi-metallic brake pad, helps resist heat, provides excellent grip, and the mounting bracket .. This is made of a ductile iron construction, provides strength and durability.
A mounting bracket is what makes this whole assembly a right hand side application, and the reason that is is because of the location of these mounting holes will determine which side of the trailer that this assembly goes on.Now, this assembly does require a hydraulic brake actuator and brake lines for the brakes to be activated. We do sell those parts separately. You do want to make sure the actuator and brake lines will have a minimum psi rating of 1600 psi. These parts are made in the USA. Again, this is designed to fit an axle capacity of 7000 pounds. The wheel size that it will fit on this hub is a 16 inch diameter, 16 1/2 inch and 17 inch diameter wheel.
The bolt pattern is an 8 on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern. The wheel bolt diameter is 9/16ths of an inch. The rotor diameter, which will be measured from this side to this side, is 12 1/4 inches, and on the mounting bracket, the caliper mounting bracket, it does use a five bolt brake flange configuration. Now, the bearings that are included are both inner and outer bearings. The inner bearing, which is the larger of the two, is part number 25580. It has an inner diameter of 1.75 inches.
Outer bearing is part number 14125A. It has an inner diameter of 1.25 inches. We mentioned the bearing races are all pre-installed in the hub. The oil seal is included. That's part number 10-63. It has an inner diameter of 2.25 inches, overall diameter of 3.376 inches. The oil cap and a set of the eight of the 9/16ths by 18 size lug nuts, but that should do it for the review on the Dexter 12 1/4 Inch E-Coat Passenger Side Hub and Rotor Disc Brake Assembly with the 8 on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern for 7000 pound axles.
