This non-thermal fan clutch allows for continuous engagement of the fan. As engine RPM increases, this centrifugal clutch begins to disengage, which reduces the load on the belt system to boost engine efficiency. This operation method is great for drag cars and hot rods because high fan speeds at low RPM and having a reduced load on the motor at high RPM is desirable.

If the Chevy V8 in your truck has serpentine belts the fan should spin counter clockwise which would mean it is a reverse rotation fan. If it uses V-belts instead it would spin clockwise and be standard rotation. There are a couple of different fan clutches that fit a 1988 Chevy C/K series 1500 depending on the rear axle gear ration and if it has air conditioning. Replacement Fan and Fan Clutch for a 1965 Chevy Truck with 305 Cubic Inch Motor
For your 1965 Chevy truck you would need 18 inch diameter fan # D17118 which is a standard rotation fan clutch fan. If the OEM fan clutch does not have a mounting pattern that matches the fan, you will need a fan clutch, # D22048. The stock 305 in the 1965 Chevy trucks was a 6 cylinder though. If you have a different 305 like a modular or Coyote Ford motor then the products listed above would not fit.
