A spin-on adapter allows for the external oil lines necessary to install an engine cooler or an additional, remote-mounted filter by converting your vehicle's oil filter landing into a passageway. Because the adapter installs where your filter normally is, you will have to mount your oil filter in a different location.

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this Derale Spin-On Adapter Kit. This kit is going to feature this adapter that will install in place of your engine oil filter onto your engine, so it will allow you to connect your hoses onto your engine, so that you can then install an oil cooler. They do include a hex sleeve nut here that will allow this to thread right onto your engine. This has a 3/4 inch, 16 thread, so it will thread snugly onto your engine with that 3/4 inch, 16 threading on there. The snap ring is going to hold the hex sleeve in place inside there, so you're not gonna have to worry about it coming loose, and then they also include the O-ring there for a nice tight, snug seal once you have that all installed.
On top here, we do have our two 1/2 inch NPT ports that will allow you to install your hose, so you'll have one that's going out, and then you'll route that to your filter. Since you are displacing your oil filter, you will need to have a remote oil filter mount to get that routed to your filter to make sure that the oil is still gonna be filtered, and then you'll route it to your cooler, and then back into your engine here. So this is just gonna be one of several components that you'll need, so if you are starting from scratch, I would recommend one of our other kits that has all those other components already together for you, so you don't have to worry about purchasing them separately, so this would be more as like a replacement product. If you're needing to replace that original spin-on adapter, this is gonna be a direct replacement from Derale, so you can trust it is going to work well with the rest of your setup. But very simple to just get those hose fittings put on there, connect your hose, put it on your clamp, and then route your oil to where it needs to be, this will make that solid connection to your engine.
We do have other kits that are extremely similar, they have just different hex nuts, so that they'll fit on different engine types, so make sure you're getting the right one that's gonna fit with your engine. Appears to be exactly like the universal adaptor kit just with a single threaded insert instead of the batch of various threaded inserts. Better off with the universal set
