Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this Derale remote oil filter mount kit. This kit is going to allow you to remote mount your oil filter anywhere in your engine compartment, so it can be much easier for you to change your filter when a time comes to do so. This is constructed of a high quality aluminum, so it is gonna hold up really well for you. Basically, the way this works, you can see we've got the three-hole setup here so that we can pass through the included number 14 sheet metal screws to get this mounted in your engine department. And once it's mounted, can then use the nipple here, thread that in.
That has a 3/4 inch 16-thread so that you can simply install your filter on that. And then, on the top part here, we do have these top-mounted, or ports-up 1/2 inch NPT fittings, and we do have two included 1/2 inch NPT, 1/2 inch hose barb fittings so that we can get those connected. And then, connect our hose with a 1/2 inch internal diameter and then that will allow the oil to flow into our filter and then back out to our engine, or to our cooler, or whatever it is that we're running into. So very convenient little option here to get your filter mounted. Of course, this isn't going to include a hose, or hose clamps for you to route your oil to it.
Those are sort separately, and we do have those available here at etrailer.com. We also have kits that come with other components here, hoses, clamps, and spin-on adapters to attach to your engine so that you can get your oil out to your hose to begin with. It took awhile to find right angle (90 degree) connections which are not included or options in the kit. A template would be useful. Correcting the base of the product to allow a quarter inch socket/wrench would be very useful as well as space for a geared box end wrench. Your product had to be mounted vertically to eliminate air in the filter which was filled with fluid before mounting. Those right angle fittings are essential for tight fits in engine compartments. I had to use some old fittings since new ones are hard to find. Instructions could be made more complete. I used to use the Hayden products which also had a hold and plug for an optional temperature sensor. The dual product had to have an extended base.
Your product is suitable for transmission and power steering fluid filtration whether mounted or portable. Additional brass fittings will have to be found for smaller diameter fluid lines and changes in direction of flow. I have had to use other mounting hardware but I know what to do. I have ordered this product from you before.
