Ellen: Hey everyone, I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and we're going to be taking a quick look at the FixnZip zipper repair. This helps you to either replace or repair a broken zipper. A lot of times, especially if we're using gear pretty roughly, those zippers can come undone, and then maybe that pull fell off, or got busted, or damaged, or scraped along something, or maybe you just can't get the two ends back together to actually use that pull again. This allows us to fix that, get it working again so we don't have to get a whole new rig, or a whole new piece of our wardrobe, and we can just fix that zipper and use our stuff for years to come. So let's take a closer look at this, make sure that this is the right size for you. This is the medium style, and it does work for the tooth and coil style zippers. So if you're not sure what that looks like, got a jacket here as an example. It should look something like this, flip it over to the other side, it might be a little bit easier to see, that coil and tooth style.
So this should be a fit for it, this is going to be, again, that medium size, so it'll work for jackets, as you can see. It also works for sleeping bags, tents, duffle bags, anything that has this size of zipper, so between a quarter inch wide and 5/16ths. To actually use this, we just need to loosen up the little knob at the top, until it opens up that clamp, and then we can place that over our zipper on either side, place it over the teeth, and I'm going to match that up at the base, at that block. Then you're going to tighten this guy down till it's pretty tight, you want to make sure that it's going to clamp enough to merge the two sides together. It's best to do this as close as you can to the block, and make sure that everything is nice and tight. Now this is an open ended zipper, so that means that both these ends can freely move.
If you're using this on something like a backpack, or a duffle bag, where you don't have access to either end, or they're fixed in place. That would be a closed end zipper, and it's going to be a little bit different for that, but still basically the same idea.Once that's in place, pull that up, and you're good to go. Now I've found, at least for this jacket, it doesn't merge quite as seamlessly, or quite as nice, as the original pull. It kind of puckers up a little bit, but it's solid enough that the jacket is closed, it's functional, and you can use that again as a replacement for your pull, if it's gone missing, or just to get you back rolling again by being able to close or open up that zipper. So pretty simple, pretty straight forward. There are also different sizes of this style FixnZip, again this is the medium, we also have large and small, so should fix a pretty wide range of stuff.
You can also get these as a set, so you have all three sizes, which I think is pretty handy to have, just for all kinds of different gear. This is also the black nickel style, it's available in a more shiny silver style, so if you want something that's a little bit brighter, that's the difference there. It's a pretty subtle difference I would say, but they are different, so it kind of depends on your preference, or what you're changing out, on which one works better. They work exactly the same, it's just slightly different finish to those. That's pretty much all there is to it for our look at the AceCamp FixnZip zipper repair, I hope this has been helpful in deciding if this is going to be the right one for you, again, all those other parts that I mentioned, they are available here at etrailer.com, so if you want to check those out, please do.
