Replacement Brake & Hub Assemblies for Dexter 8-147 Hubs
Question:
Hello, my name is Steve. I am working on a camper project and am needing a little help. I am working w/ a 1973 Trailblazer camper frame w/ the original Dexter axles. On the outside of the axle hubs it has Dexter 8-147 stamped on them. I was wondering if Etrailer offers direct bolt on replacements for both the brake and hub assemblies for these vintage axles? If so can I possibly get any part numbers? Any help is greatly appreciated and thank you in advance. Steve

Your hubs are not directly compatible with any axle we currently carry. The 8-147 hubs are agricultural hubs and although very close to fitting will not work with the new axle spindles. My recommendation is to get your new axle with the kit that includes the electric brake assemblies and hubs.
I recommend the Dexter Trailer Axle w/ Electric Brakes - E-Z Lube - 5 on 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern - 95" - 3,500 lbs # 7359765-EB if you have spring centers 80 inches apart. If you have springs 74 inches on center then I recommend the Trailer Axle w/ Electric Brakes - EZ-Lube - 5 on 4-1/2 Bolt Pattern - 89" - 3,500 lbs # e43SR. These options have the easy to maintain E-Z Lube spindle and are the standard thru-axle design.
