How to Carry a Scooter on a Cargo Carrier on the Back of an RV While Towing a Boat Trailer

Question:

We have 26foot Class C Winnibago with a class III receiver and want to consider the purchase of a carrier for a Vespa Motor Scooter, estimated weight 300 lbs w/ fuel . The question is are we able to tow beyond this carrier something such as a small aluminum boat 16?

Before you purchase anything you should verify with the hitch and RV manufacturer that they are both rated high enough for the weight of the carrier, scooter, and boat.

One option is a motorcycle carrier. The Ultra-Fab Carrier # UF48-979033 is also rated for RV use. It's 80 inches long with a 39 inch ramp.

With this carrier there is a chance of contact between the carrier and the boat when making turns. The carrier will stick out from the back of the vehicle and could interfere.

I suggest using some straps to help secure the scooter just to be safe. There's a lot of movement at the back of an RV because of the long wheelbase.

To carry the scooter and tow the boat trailer use the Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount # D210. This will allow you to do both. You'll also need a hitch ball. Use # 19260 for a 1-7/8 inch, # 63845 for a 2 inch, or # 63847 for a 2-5/16 inch.
