Installation

Installation Step 1

1. Spread the chain around the back of the tire.

Installation Step 2

2. Connect the yellow and blue cable at the back of the tire.

Installation Step 3

3. Push the cable into place behind the tire and center the cross chains on the tire's tread. Then, on the front side of the tire, join the 2 ends of the yellow side chain using the green hook.

Installation Step 4

4. Feed the silver draw chain with the rubber tensioner through the red channel at the bottom and pull it tight. Then run the tensioner through the red rings. (Note: Depending on your tire size, you might not be able to thread through both rings.) Pull the tensioner across the tire and fasten it to the yellow chain on the opposite side.

Installation Step 5

5. Pull your vehicle forward and retighten the chain.

Class "S" Designation

SAE Class "S" tire chains are designed for use on vehicles with restricted wheel well clearance. Certain newer cars, vans and small trucks, especially those with large, aftermarket tires, may require Class "S" chains.

SAE Class S Clearances

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle itself.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

2018 Chevrolet Traverse

I have a Chevy Traverse 2018 with 255/65R18 tires. The distance between tire and wheel well of the car is low. Even after watching the install video and confirming these would fit my size tire without any extra equipment or cutting of links. The fit was loose even after having the tension chain pulled to the last link. I had to add extra heavy duty black bungees across the face of the wheel to pull the slack in. Just like you used to do with the old style heavy duty chains. After adding the bungees the chains worked great in 12" of snow.

Easy to install great fit. Used for snow plow vehicle so heavy use

2016 Toyota Tundra

Just completed fit-check of these chains on my two vehicles (2016 Toyota Tundra, P255/70R18, Michelin LTX MS2; 2010 Toyota Sequoia, P275/55R20 111S M+S, Bridgestone Dueler H/L) and all is good! Hardest part of installation was untangling the chains to lay out on the ground (that always is, for me!). Practice makes it easier. Thank you etrailer!

Rolling a few revolutions and re-tightening chains IS important. Don't leave that step out. I'm going to add rubber tensioners (old-school, I know) just to be sure.

Pics are of the 2010 Sequoia and 2016 Tundra.

Ive only had to use them once in the year Ive had them I live in SoCal, after all!. Easy on, easy off. Work good.

These chains worked great and had a great experience with Josh B. I got the chains for a hunting trip and I’m glad I did because it a snowy, icy, muddy mess.

2018 Dodge Ram Pickup

Bought these for my new 2018 Ram Tradesman after trying some SCC Z Chains which, even though they are rated S class, had inner brackets and cables that seemed far to close to the rubber brake line on this Ram (which is unfortunately very close to the tire). These Titan chains are very easy to install, and have a very clean profile on the inside (see pic), so I think these will be fine on this truck.

They also come in a very nice, compact soft case, and are far easier to pack back up than other chains I've used. I've only tried them on my driveway, so can't comment on how they handle in the snow, but I suspect the diamond design should work very well. I did notice that moving the truck after installing, they did need to be snugged up by moving the one tensioner, but that's to be expected as they settle and center themselves on the tire. Very nice design with the stiff cable on the inside, and unique, easy to use tensioner system.

by:
2006 Toyota 4Runner

I haven't driven with them yet, but I like the size of the chain and the design, and expect them to ride smoother than ladder chains. The storage bag is nice also. They were easy to put on without moving the vehicle, and they fit perfectly on the 265/70-17 tires on my Toyota 4Runner. I've added a rubber tie down strap to tighten them further just in case. In the photo the vehicle hasn't moved yet, I might have to adjust them a bit, but they do feel pretty tight already.

Tire chains are too loose, the tightening chain was pulled as fas as possible, but still too loose

I have reached out to the manufacturer about the installation of the chain. It was suggested to take the pull chain up through the next yellow side chain then bring it back and that would tighten better. Before taking this step I recommend taking the chains off and then reinstalling. Please note that it is recommended that you pull forward a few feet in order to let the chains reset and then tighten as needed.

by:
2017 Toyota 4Runner

The chains go on much more easily than the old ladder type and of course offer great traction. Be sure to take them off in exactly the reverse order as you put them on. Otherwise, like me, you will have to climb under the truck to get them off. As always E-trailer under promises and out performs getting these back ordered chains to me before i head off to the mountains from frozen Northern Minnesota.

After a year I’ve only needed them three times. I don’t recommend keeping them on if you go over 40 MPH. One of my chains broke but they include repair links so easy fix.

by:
2015 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class

Have not yet used them but the quality of the cabling and chain is very good. The chains come in a flexible waterproof zip up case that fits perfectly in the spare tire bay in our 2015 MBZ GL-450. This a plus, as I can store them year round and not worry if I packed the chains and they won't be in the way of the groceries.
Looking forward to not needing them, but if I do I have full confidence that they will safely get us to where we are going.

Toyota Tacoma

This is our second time ordering online from etrailer. Both times were excellent experiences and their product quality is second to none. The snow chains we ordered arrived within a couple of days, traveling from MO to CA. These chains are very easy to install and remove and are come in their own cases. We ordered two sets (four chains) for our AWD Dodge Durango. I also have two sets for my Toyota Tacoma 4X4 that I ordered previously from etrailer.

by:

I really like the ease of installation of this style of chain. The diamond pattern is a smoother ride. They have good grip on thick ice. The manufacturer even included repair links and gloves to use if i wanted to dye my hair. I received my order faster than expected and really liked etrailers detailed order tracking.

I am writing this review to let you know that I am EXTREMELY PLEASED with your prompt delivery, quality of product, and follow-up with product satisfaction. More companies should follow your business model and professionalism. The chains came in a wonderful carrying case, simple to follow instructions and showed up on time! Nothing could be better than that! I will be recommending you to all of my friends should they have need of your service! I will also be letting all of my friends on SOCIAL MEDIA about you as well! Feeling very good about my purchase and my wife and I's upcoming move to Jackson Wyoming! Thank you.

2017 Toyota 4Runner

Love these chains. They are super quick and easy to put on/take off. A friend said to purchase spare rubber bungees in case these break, but so far so good.

by:

Excellent Product! Perfect for quick on and off when you want to drive your truck on pavement during the winter AND use it for plowing.

by:
2001 Ford F-250 Super Duty

These are poorly made and did not last 5 minutes. The outside "chain" and connectors are very light duty. The carrying case is very nice but the should have put the money into the chain and holders. Don't waste your money

by:

Excellent product. Install time is much faster than chains without the cable that attaches in the rear. Integral tightening is slick. No need for tools to tighten cams or cable ties to secure loose chain ends.

Great product. Very easy to install and remove. Allows me to use my truck when not plowing all winter. Good enough to provide traction on rear tires. Easier to turn the truck around than with larger link chains.

Jeep Grand Cherokee

The fitment for my JEEP Grand Cherokee was good, just had a bit too much slack in the tensioning chain so with an easy loop of some heavy gauge wire, I was able to close the gap for a nice tight low profile fit. Put them to good use driving Seattle to Montana and back this past winter and they performed well, easy on easy off in the -20 weather was helpful.

by:

They fit perfectly, thanks for the guid ance

Great personal service! Good attention to detail. Thank you!

2013 Ford F-150

Chains fit my Blizzak 265/70 R17 tires perfectly. I'll be honest, I was expecting thicker links (similar to old school snow chains) but since my vehicle requires Class S chains I guess the links need to be a smaller gauge. No worries, I did a test install in the garage and they went on fine. Also took a test drive on snow covered gravel road and they worked as advertised. No regrets on my purchase, in fact I might get an additional set for my front tires as well at some point. Shipping was extremely fast. Hopefully I'll never need them, but if I do it's good to know I've got them in the vehicle.

Perfect. I did get a second set for my front tires and have had the opportunity to use them on county roads that arent plowedmaintained by the county. Worked perfect. Continue to highly recommend.

by:

I’ve used them on steep dirt roads with snow and ice. They work well and more importantly are easy to get on and off.
I carry them with me year round because you never know. The fit was a little loose on my worn tires but that didn’t affect their performance.

by:

These chains fit my F150 2010 very well. One of them shipped without the tensioner for a single set of chains, but the staff was very helpful over the phone and quickly sent this to me to complete my order. Much appreciated. Would recommend this product.

by:

easy to install i am ready for snow to try them out

by:

The online ordering process was quick and easy. The chains arrived as promised. The instructions were easy to understand though it took a couple of trial runs to get it down. Had to use the chains on the next drive and they worked great.

  • Legality of Tire Chains TC2326 in Virginia
I found the information you were looking for about Virginia's tire chain laws. Yes the Titan Diamond Alloy Tire Chains # TC2326 are legal in Virginia. Tire chains are permissible when required for safety because of snow, ice or other conditions tending to cause a vehicle to slide or skid. Vehicles blocking traffic due to lack of tire chains may be fined. I've attached the Help Article that outlines this for your convenience.

  • 2019 Jeep Cherokee Overland Snow Chain Recommendation
My recommendation for your 2019 Jeep Cherokee Overland are the Konig Tire Self-Tensioning Snow Chains # th02230k55. These are a Class S chain that you often see required for large, aftermarket tires. Clearance is a concern using snow chains and it sounds like something you're seeing as well with the distance between the inside sidewall and struts. Since these Konig chains only ride on your vehicle's tread, they are an ideal solution for trucks and SUVs with limited clearance. Especially...
