Expert Answers about Mercedes-Benz Metris

  • Is the P3 Brake Controller a Good Choice for a 2018 Mercedes Metris
  • The P3 brake controller # 90195 is a fantastic brake controller and since it is not vehicle specific it can be used with your 2018 Mercedes Metris provided that it did not come with a factory installed 7-Way trailer connector (you would need to install a 4-Way trailer wiring harness, # 119250KIT, and use install kit # ETBC7 to complete the installation). If it did come with a factory installed 7-Way trailer connector then I do not recommend the P3 and instead I recommend the Curt Echo...

  • Is There a Hazard Pulse Preventer on the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller Part # C51180
  • Yes, there is a hazard light override feature on the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180 that you can turn on via the in-app settings (see photo). Therefore, if you needed you could drive with the hazard lights flashing and not have to worry about the brake controller applying the brakes on the trailer.

  • Rear Door Clearance for GearDeck 17 Box and 7-Way Wiring Adapter Recommendation
  • From the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the GearDeck 17 # H00604 measures 50". If you measure from the center of your hitch pin hole to the outermost part of your door on your 2021 Mercedes-Benz Metris and it's less than 50" then you'll have enough clearance for this to work for you! The GearDeck 17 comes with a 4-Way connector that powers tail lights and has a light and older for your license plate. To connect the 4-Way to the 7-Way on your Metris you just need the...

  • Best Bike Rack Setup For A 2017 Mercedes Metris Cargo Van
  • If you wanted to get a hitch, you can get this one # 76015 which will work with any 2 inch bike rack like the NV 2.0 # BA22B-BA02B which also comes in a two bike version # BA22B. If you wanted to be able to keep your bikes on and not have to take them off to get to the back of your Metris we have a swing away system # PVP20B that will allow you to swing your bikes away so you can open your rear barn doors while leaving everything attached. This thing is AWESOME! It really makes having a...

  • What is Ground Clearance of Trailer Hitch that Fits 2019 Mercedes Benz Metris
  • From the bottom of the Curt hitch part # C13276 down to the ground on your 2019 Mercedes Benz Metris will measure right at 10 inches. I attached a picture that shows that it fits up to the bottom of the rear bumper about as tightly as it could. I also attached an install video link with more info as well. There isn't an option with more clearance available.

Here are all the parts you need, starting with the roof rack, and then the tray. • Compatibility of Rhino Rack RR31126 Awning Mounting Brackets with Thule Aero-Style Crossbars
  • Although the # RR31126 mounting brackets are meant to be used with the Rhino Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars, the slots in the top of the Thule and Rhino Rack crossbars are comparable in size so that accessories designed to fit the Rhino Rack crossbars, like their Sunseeker # RR32132, # RR32133, and the no longer available RR32105, and RR32109 awnings will indeed work with Thule Aero-Style crossbars.

  • Recommended Hitch and Trailer Wiring Harness for 2020 Mercedes Metris Cargo Van
  • We don't offer a plug and play wiring harness for your 2020 Metris, but we do offer a circuit-protected trailer wiring harness to provide a 4-pole trailer connector that would be pretty easy to install that wouldn't require any cutting or splicing. I'd recommend the Tekonsha ZCI, part # 119250KIT that would install as shown in the linked video. The ZCI uses sensors that clamp around the taillight harness wires that can read the current going through the wires. For a hitch, I'd recommend...

  • Is BedRug VanRug VRMM16 Custom Fit for 2016 Mercedes Metris
  • The BedRug part # VRMM16 is custom fit specific to the 2016 Mercedes Benz Metris. It would not fit any other vehicle easily as it is not a universal fit item.

  • Where is the Trailer Brake Controller Plug on a 2020 Mercedes-Benz Metris
  • The trailer brake controller plug on a 2020 Mercedes-Benz Metris is located on the driver side behind the center console, under the sound deadening mat in the top left of the passenger footwell. I have attached a photo of this as well. I recommend using the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90195 with Tekonsha Custom Wiring Adapter for Trailer Brake Controllers part # 3063-P which makes for a plug-in-play install. If you don't want to do all the work finding the connector...

  • How Far Forward Does VanRug VRMM16 Install in Rear Cargo Area

  • Weight Distribution Hitch for R-Pod Trailer Towed By 2016 Mercedes Benz Metris
  • I have a solution for you, but we don't currently offer the Andersen weight distribution system. It looks like most R-Pod 179 trailers have a dry weight of under 3000-lbs and a tongue weight of around 350-lbs in most cases (your trailer's tongue weight should be between 10-15% of the total weight of your fully loaded trailer). In order to choose the best weight distribution system for your trailer, you'll want the tongue weight of the trailer to fall in the middle of the tongue weight...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Lights Running After the Vehicle is Turned Off
  • It sounds like something isn't wired correctly or the 4-way connector is bad but you've ruled out the trailer as the source of the problem. You will want to check to make sure that the brown wire is properly connected to the running light wire at the rear of your Metris and that the white ground wire is attached to a bare metal surface that is free of dirt and corrosion.

  • Can 2017 Mercedes-Benz Metris Tow Using Weight Distribution
  • According to the owner's manual, your Metris is rated to tow up to 5000 lbs. I saw no prohibitions regarding weight distribution mentioned, but you'll want to find the ID label on the hitch. If the label on the hitch lists both a towing and weight distribution capacity, then it is capable of being used with weight distribution. The owner's manual mentioned a 500 lb tongue weight (the maximum amount downward force that can safely applied to the hitch) maximum, so you'll want to be sure not...

  • Parts Needed to Add 7-Way to 2017 Mercedes-Benz Metris for Curt Echo Brake Controller
  • It sounds like you already have a 4-way on your 2017 Mercedes-Benz Metris. If you don't, you will need to start by adding one with the # C59496. From there, you can upgrade to a 7-way using the # ETBC7. We have had great success with the # ETBC7. If you take a look at the product page it has thousands of reviews and we have over one hundred installation videos. This is the perfect solution for adding a 7-way when a custom wiring option is not available. This comes with the adapter, wiring,...

  • Installing a Rhino Rack Vortex Aero Kit onto a 2016 Mercedes-Benz Metris
  • The QM6 Fit Kit, part # RRQMFK06 is the correct fit kit for your vehicle, however it's not illustrated very well in the documentation that comes in its packaging. I've summarized the installation process for this kit, which should be found with the individual bars or foot pack for this kit. When you go to install your roof rack, going from the front of the vehicle, the 1st, 3rd and 5th plugs, depending on where you want the roof rack to be on the vehicle. Prior to fitting the fit kit...

  • Function of Curt Echo Trailer Brake Controller If There Are Bluetooth Connectivity Issues
  • For your 2016 Mercedes-Benz Metris Passenger Van, the Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 should work well. It is a fairly new product from Curt and we haven't heard of any issues but we don't have any confirmed distances it has been utilized from any of our customers. I reached out to my contact at Curt and they also don't have a record of distance traveled for their tests. They are very confident in their product and I've attached a review from our local driving test...

  • Should Tekonsha P3 be Recalibrated with Trailer Fully Loaded
  • Hey Kris, thanks for reaching out! You'll already have a good idea of how to adjust the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195, but it would be good to do a bit of a test run once your trailer is loaded just to make sure the brakes are operating safely and effectively.

  • How To Determine The Ground Clearance of the Draw-Tite Receiver # 76015 On a 2021 Mercedes Metris
  • While we have not installed the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76015 in our shop on a 2021 Mercedes-Benz Metris I do have some measurements which will allow you to see where it will fit on your Metris. From the center of the lowest mounting hole(see image) to the lowest point on the receiver is 8-7/8". To the bottom of the end of the receiver you are looking at closer to 8" since the sides of the mounting bracket hang lower than the receiver.
