Rear Door Clearance for GearDeck 17 Box and 7-Way Wiring Adapter Recommendation
Question:
Hi I have a Mercedes 2021 Metris van with tail gate. I need to determine if the Geardeck pulls out far enough for my tailgate to open without touching the box. Can you tell me how far the Geardeck pulls out and the amount of clearance there is. Also does the license plate holder have a light so it can be seen. My tow package on the vehicle has a 2” reciever and a plug beside it I will provide a pic. Can you tell me if this plug is compatible for the electrical components for the Geardeck. If I order this item and it doesn’t work out will I be able to send back without being charged for postage. Thank you

From the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the GearDeck 17 # H00604 measures 50". If you measure from the center of your hitch pin hole to the outermost part of your door on your 2021 Mercedes-Benz Metris and it's less than 50" then you'll have enough clearance for this to work for you!
The GearDeck 17 comes with a 4-Way connector that powers tail lights and has a light and older for your license plate. To connect the 4-Way to the 7-Way on your Metris you just need the Pollak Adapter # PK12716.
I also recommend picking up the Snap-On Lock # ACC3250 to secure the GearDeck 17 to your hitch and then the using the Padlock Kit # 131D to secure the lid of the cargo box.
