Allowing fluid to spread out over this larger surface area decreases the time required for heat transfer to take place. Awesome product! Received it yesterday. Custom fabricated brackets for it to mount below my auxiliary trans cooler on my 07 fx4 f150. Installed the on off switch on out side of transmission and the fan works great! 91798
excellent quality product, I have intalled the fan/cooler on a toyota highlander 2010 without tow package not infront of the a/c radiator but exactly at the same place as toyota install the oem transmission cooler just behind the right fog light. I have a travel trailer of 3300 lbs dry, (4000lbs gross weight) and before my transmission temperature was around 215-220 F with a standard transmission cooler(without a fan) infront of the a/c radiator, but now with my new derale fan cooler, its around 180F after a long climb. I am totally satisfied. I had to build a bracket to fit the cooler in this tiny space behind the fog light, it took me 6-7 hours .141122

Mounted between fuel tank and transfer case. Larger 6.0 cooler would go in front of intercooler. Dont need anymore heat there. This was cheaper and works great in this position. Wrapped exhaust near the lines as they have to dump out on right side of trans. and I did not want any hard 90 degree turns with all this extra plumbing. Keeps temps way lower. Also installed oversize/cooler pan.
FYI using temp sensors in pan and in valve body. Pan is regularly 30 degrees cooler than valve body.438701

Love my engine oil cooler. I was having overheating problems with my Dodge truck while towing on a hot day. I asked the guys at etrailer if I should add a bigger radiator, and engine oil cooler or another tranny cooler. They nailed it when they recommended a supplemental engine oil cooler. I now can town my fifth wheel RV trailer on the hottest days and in the mountains without overheating. I do still have to watch the temps and if they start to get over 260 f or so I downshift a gear or two to get greater fluid flows. The only reason I am not giving this 5 stars is that with the supplied hose clamps I was plagued with constant slow leaks. I finally bought a much higher end hose Clamp which did solve the problem.268306

I was surprised at the lack of feedback on these products, and the differences in opinions. I tow a fare amount, between 7000lbs and 9500lbs. My vehicle is a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 8 speed transmission. ( outside temperature 20-30 deg Celsius ). Before I installed this engine cooler my temperature ran around 115 deg Celsius on a flat pull and 130 - 135 deg Celsius on most hills. After a hill it took a long time to drop in temperature, most time it hardly dropped. Now I rarely see 115 deg Celsius on a hill, and recovers to 100 deg Celsius very quickly. So in short I'm very happy with this product. I would recommend it to anyone that Tows.738161

Appears to be well-built and wasn't too hard to plumb in series with the existing oil cooler. Unfortunately with my 2010 Suburban it did not make any difference in the oil sump temperature shown by the computer - either daily driving or while towing. I plan on borrowing a laser thermometer to see what the actual input/output temps are.230261

I spoke with my contact at Derale and he said that your 2012 model Chevy Suburban 1500 uses 1/2 inch transmission lines so the Derale Hyper-Cool Transmission Cooler # D13960 won't be the best option.
For your Suburban you will instead want the Derale Hyper-Cool # D15960 which is essentially the same cooler with fan but designed to work with the 1/2 inch lines. An adapter isn't needed as the compression fitting that comes included with this cooler should work perfectly.

The correct replacement thermostat for the Derale Hyper-Cool Remote Transmission Cooler Kits like part # D13960 or part # D15660 is the Replacement Thermostat for Derale Fan Controls part # D16728. The thermostat has spade connections on one end where the wires go so carefully pull the wires off this end by the connector and then thread the old thermostat out. While we don't have specific fit info for the Derale Hyper-Cool Remote Transmission Cooler # D13960 that you referenced the dimensions of this cooler would pretty easily fit the available space you have. Since transmission coolers are not vehicle-specific you'll want to compare the dimensions of the Derale Hyper-Cool # D13960 (13- wide x 10- tall x 5-5/8-inches deep) to the available mounting locations in your engine compartment. I contacted our representative at Derale and he informed me that the Derale Hyper-Cool Remote Transmission Cooler Kit With Fan, part # D13960, can be amounted anywhere. Since it uses a fan for cooling, it is not necessary to use the radiator for cooling as the fan is strong enough to provide cooling power.

The difference between the kits is the size AN fittings that come with either. Aside from that it's the same coolers and the same fans. The Derale Hyper-Cool Remote Transmission Cooler # D13960 comes with -6 AN inlet fittings and the part # D15960 comes with -8 AN fittings.
-6 means the hose is 3/8 inch diameter and -8 means 1/2 inch diameter. The bigger the diameter the more fluid can flow through it. Either are a great option for your truck. view full answer...
We currently have 6 transmission coolers that are recommended for your 1996 Ford F-250 with 7.3 liter diesel engine. I have included a link to them below. Supplemental transmission coolers such as # D13503 are not actually vehicle specific. It is usually the other way around with factory transmissions coolers in radiators. By that I mean that normally you see a problem with the factory coolers, not the aftermarket replacements. It is possible to bypass the factory cooler in the radiator by blocking off the input/output locations for the transmission cooler on the radiator.

A large cooler like # D13105 that you have referenced would be a good choice. The larger the cooler and the more airflow it can get the more efficient it will be in cooling the transmission fluid. You may also need to add fitting # D13025 so you will not have to cut and flare lines.

I do have a solution that will allow you to cool your 2007 Nissan Pathfinder's transmission fluid without running the risk of coolant leaking inside the transmission but unfortunately, the radiator will need to be replaced no matter which route you go.
