Bias Tires vs. Radial Tires

Bias vs. radial tire graphic

Bias ply tires are designed for off-road or agricultural applications. They are built with thick, durable nylon cords that are positioned at a 30- to 45-degree angle to the direction of travel. The layers alternate in a crisscross pattern, making the sidewalls stiffer so that the entire tire is able to flex easily. As a result, the tire provides a smooth ride and improved handling when trailering on uneven surfaces.

Good tire. I had no issues mounting and balancing them. I use mine on a mostly off road mini yard truck. Tires have nice tread and don't mark up the grass.

by:

Great product. Completely improve the handling of my trailer. Great customer service and also the delivery was right on point.

by:

So far after a year I’m very happy with my tires

by:

used one season so far and no sign of wear very nice tires

by:

Tires are still perfect. I dont put a lot of miles on them so I cant comment on wear but very happy with my purchase and experience with etrailer. Will definitely use them again.

by:

I bought this as a spare tire to go with 2 tires & rims that I ordered at the same time. Had the tire mounted on an existing rim, and will rotate all 3 tires on a regular basis.

by:

Tires are great! Replacement tires for pontoon boat on galvanized rims. Only had to put in a little air a couple times in last year. Very satisfied.

by:

Recently had a blowout on our pontoon trailer and needed a replacement. These tires exceed the original weight rating and look great at a good price. So we bought two and plan to get two more to match. The customer service at etrailer is by far the best I've had with super quick shipping and great customer followup.

by:

The Loadstar is good tire for use on my boat trailer. They wear extremely well and have a good tread design. I got 11 years of light use on my last set and am only changing them out due to some slight sidewall cracking. A solid product!

by:

Happy with the tires- wished the price was lower. I purchased a similar tire a few years ago and paid double on this purchase.

by:

Overall great experience.

by:

Since day one, I have had no problems with these tires. In fact, I need to order another one to replace my spare tire. Thanks Etrailer...

by:

They are tires. The right size and load range. Replacements for a pair that are worn badly.

Most impressive was the virtually instant fulfillment and fast shipping.

Thanks, George J.

by:

Items shipped quickly and were well pac kaged.

by:

These tires I bought for my pontoon boat trailer are great tires, they were shipped fast and free, and are much better than the cheap knockoffs that are on the market.

by:

Needing new lawn tractor tires for a very old, but very good tractor I found that my numbers were not listed on tires anywhere. Robert took the time to cross over the numbers and the tires arrived 3 days later. Better quality than tires available near me, and at a great price. Hard to beat their products and service.

by:

AM VERY HAPPY WITH THE TRAILER TIRES NO PROBLEMS WITH THEM. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

by:

Ordered two trailer tires. Most impressive was the shipping (free) and they arrived in two days. Have not mounted the tires but that's the easy part!

by:

I had excellent service with the tires I purchased from etrailer and the loan co that helped me get these tires now so I would not have to wait till I save the money thank you

by:

Reliable tire at a good price!

by:

I have ordered from you before and found good products and great help. I received the product in a timely order and have been happy with it. So i decided to order from you again and had to have a little help in cross-referencing the size. The salesperson was real helpful and knowledgeable. I will order from you again. Thanks

  • Parts Needed to Add Electric Drum Brakes to 1996 Pop Up Camper
Unless your axle is in bad shape or it uses a weird set of bearings and seal you shouldn't need to replace it just to swap your hydraulic brakes over to electric. We actually have everything that you need for this conversion. To replace your older size 20.5x8-10 tires/wheels I recommend the Kenda 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tire with 10" White Wheel # AM3H410 if you need the tire and wheel or part # AM1HP54 for just the tire (which is the current size listing of your tire size). This has a load...

The closest match to a 20x8-10 tire that we have will be a 205/65-10. This size is 20-1/2 inches tall and 8.4 inches wide. They fit on a 6 inch wheel. We have several tires in this size depending on the capacity you need. Load range B rated for 910 pounds at 35 psi, # AM1HP50 Load range C rated for 1,100 pounds at 50 psi, # AM1HP52 Load range D rated for 1,330 pounds at 70 psi, # AM1HP54 Load range E rated for 1,650 pounds at 90 psi, # AM1HP56

  • New Trailer Tires to Replace 20.5x10-8 Tires on a Performance Boat Trailer
For your trailer you can use 205/65-10 tires. For a load range E in this size you can use # AM1HP56. It is rated for 1,650 pounds at 90 psi. If you want to go with a load range D you can use # AM1HP54. It is rated for 1,330 pounds at 70 psi. I have included links to videos on both tires for you.

  • Trailer Tires to Replace 7.75-14 Tires on a Trailer
The closest match we have to your 7.75-14 tires is going to be a 205/75-14. As long as the wheels you have now are 5 to 6-1/2 inches wide (measured on the inside where the tire sits) then you could use this size. It will be 8.1 inches wide and 26.3 inches tall. This size is available in different load ranges (capacities) C, or D. The load range C, # AM1ST86, is rated for 1,760 pounds at 50 psi. And the load range D, # AM10235, is rated for 2,040 pounds at 65 psi.

  • 20.5 x 8-10 Spare Wheel/Tire With 5 on 5 Bolt Pattern for Vintage 1962 Camper
The modern tire size equivalent to the 20.5x8-10 tire is 205/65-10 which we offer in three different load ranges: • Load Range B as # AM1HP50 with a 910 lb capacity • Load Range D as # AM1HP54 with a 1330 lb capacity • Load Range E as # AM1HP56 with a 1650 lb capacity Unfortunately, we don't offer a 10 x 6 wheel with a 5 on 5 bolt pattern. Just to make sure, are you certain the bolt pattern is 5 on 5? A 5 on 5 bolt pattern would have adjacent bolt holes with a 3 inch center-to-center...

  • Replacement for 20.5 x 8-10 Tire and 5-Lug Wheel
So you mentioned wheel, though the 20.5 x 8-10 size you mentioned is actually a tire size, which leads me to think you are looking for a replacement wheel and tire of that size. Since that's an older tire size, what you will need is the modern equivalent, a size 205/65-10 tire, along with a wheel that the tire will fit on. We have just 205/65-10 tires, or just the 5-lug 10 inch rim, or a combination of the tire and rim together if that is what you are looking for. Here are the options...

Yes, the Loadstar K399 Bias Trailer Tire - 205/65-10 - Load Range C, item # AM1HP52 is the correct tire for you 10 by 6 inch wheel as long as the the trailer load is within the capacity of this tire, which is 1,100 pounds at 50 psi. The only difference here is that this tire is slightly wider at 8.3 inches which is only 5/32 of an inch wider on each side of the wheel. • Replacement Tires for Sylvan Sport Go Camping Trailer
In most cases a radial tire is going to be the best option. Definitely if you're on roads and highways all the time (most people are). However, a 205/65-10 trailer tire like the Loadstar K399 Bias Trailer Tire # AM1HP54 really only comes as bias ply. If that is the only option bias is perfectly fine. It looks like the Sylvan Sport Go Camping Trailer has fenders so getting a larger tire size to switch to radial wouldn't be a good option either. I did run a search and it looks like radial...

  • Will Tire Size 205/65/10 fit a Wheel that Currently has a 205/80/10 Tire
The tire should fit, but everything would sit a bit lower since the current tire is an 80 profile and the Loadstar you were looking at is a 65 profile. Your current tire, when new and properly inflated, would have an overall diameter of almost 23 inches. The Loadstar tire would have an overall diameter of about 20-1/2 inches. Everything would drop about 1-1/4 inches.

  • Will 205/65-10 Trailer Tire Fit in Place of 205/50-10 Trailer Tire
It can, so long as you have the right amount of clearance from the top of your tire to your fender (approximately 3 inches). A 205/65-10 trailer tire measures 20.5" in diameter and a 205/50-10 trailer tire measures 18.1" in diameter so you'll need to account for the roughly 2-1/2" of size for the larger tire (though since only half of that is on top of the tire you'll only need an extra 1-1/4" of space on top of the tire). You'll want to verify this but unless your current tire is very...

  • Will there be Any Problem Using a Load Range E Trailer Tire Instead of a Load Range D
The ride might feel a little more stiff with the higher capacity load range E tire. And you would want to make all of the tires the same load range or you could see uneven tire wear. Other than that there isn't really any issue with using an E instead of a D. The Higher load range E tire will likely require more air pressure.
