Worked really well, definitely smoothed out the ride. We are finding significantly less chaos with the equipment in the trailer.

The only complaint I would have is trying to use the Sumo Spring for very small enclosed trailers. The STEEL MOUNT was too tall, to meet the relaxed position height, so we cut 1" out of the mount and re-welded together, and repainted. But other than the additional modification it worked great.

Overall its a good product! There is certainly only so much you can do with a single axle trailer, its going to be a rough ride. But the Sumo Springs definitely smooth it out. We have had significantly less damaged items in the trailer after installing them.

by:

I purchased these for a 2022 Forest River Wolf Pup 16BHS. During the process of replacing the leaf springs I also had these SumoSprings installed to help with a smoother ride and to increase the longevity of the leaf springs. One year later everything is still working as intended. Would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a smoother ride or to increase the life of your leaf springs.

by:

Well-manufactured and designed product. I'm 74 and it took me about two hours to install on my travel trailer, but there were no problems and it seemed to fit perfectly and do the job I wanted it to do, which was support the leaf springs. Shipping was fast and free, and the follow-up is clear and honest. Great job, etrailer!!

Great! No problems whatsoever. If anything these helper springs aided me in avoiding future pothole problems.

by:

My order arrived quickly and correct. I appreciate the tracking emailed to me. The helpers went on easily and just like the video. My only modification was to remove the band on the rear spring. (A five minute task) The RV sits about 1 1/2 inches taller. I prefer this to flipping the axle in order to maintain a low center of gravity. In the picture, the springs actually are vertical when the RV is put back on the ground.

One year later, no problems. Everything has worked well. The RV is more stable on the road. Great product, I would buy again without hesitation.

by:

I installed these on my 2022 Forest River Wolf Pup 16FQ Black Label camper. These springs tremendously reduce swaying and augments the leaf springs to make the camper pull much more smoothly.. Highly recommended!

by:

Easy install on my 2012 Wolf Pup Travel Trailer. I am yet to take it out but the squeak from the leaf springs is gone and it feels much more stable walking around inside. I can’t wait to get it in the road! I gained about 1.5 inches of wheel well space to fender as noted by some other reviewers but my camper is near empty so loaded it will be perfect and I don’t mind having a bit more clearance as I have a low trailer to begin with. No spacers we’re needed for my camper. I would say also I have about .75-1 inch preload vs instructions which say recommended range is 1/4-.5 inches… again I felt OK installing and have used sumo springs in the past with good results.

by:

I just installed the SumoSprings on a KZ Sportsmen Classic 160QB and it makes a big difference in stability. I also ordered Part number TSS-CTP (contact plate) from SumoSprings since the travel trailer frame is slightly offset and the Sumospring makes only 60% contact. Always great service and useful info from etrailer.

by:

Paula was extremely helpful. Much appreciated. Would highly recommend

by:

They were easy to install and did everything they advertised. They smoothed out the ride, stabilized the load on the trailer even when the weight was off center. Well worth the money

by:

A breeze to install, excellent product.Significanly reduced bounce inside the trailer while in tow running.

by:

The Sumo springs for our dual axle 25' camper made it more stable esp on windy days and on bad roads. The stuff didn't get thrown from the cabinets.
Installation was easy after taking off the wheels.

by:

Great product, using on a single axle camper with a gross of about 4,800. Had an OEM spring snap before so wanted to ensure the new springs had some assistance for future wear prevention. Trailer is more sturdy to tow for sure. Not a world of difference, but definitely noticeable. Mostly on turns and when larger trucks pass, I can feel the camper shift and sway less, a very welcome feeling. Also, feels slightly sturdy when in trailer. Lastly, it sits a hair higher when fully loaded. Overall, a product I am very pleased with. Price seems a little high for the product you receive (material wise). But, it is a low cost investment for the future.

by:

Easy to install. Fit perfect. Waiting to see how they perform.

by:

Worked beautifully on homemade trailer with axle/leaf springs from old Rambler station wagon that easily bottomed out. Needed to do a wacky installation with added spacer, so probably invalidated warranty, but still works like a charm.

by:

Easy install and they significantly reduces the side to side roll on my small RV.

by:

My SumoSprings definitely help with trailer sway on windy days. They were not hard for me to install with standard tools.

by:

These were a great addition to my creaky dual-axle boat trailer. The banging and clanging on bumps is gone, and swaying on bumps/corners is reduced as well. An excellent investment!

by:

Perfect fit for trailer with axle over leaf springs

by:

Got the wrong product, BUT I called and explained to Jeoff. I didn’t know if I explained it the right or the person didn’t hear me correctly? It really doesn’t matter, I just needed the right part. They are sending me a return label. Then I ordered the correct part. I’ve ordered from eTrailer before and been very happy. I very happy today, all is well

by:

Great price, great service, and lightning quick shipping that arrived sooner than expected. Thanks etrailer!

by:

Got it and installed last week. Works for the trailer and I am happy with result

httpsThank you Etrailer.

by:

the mounting bracket should be shorter

by:

Already installed on my Toy Hauler trailer! Super happy with them! Thank you!

by:

I can't say as yet how they will perform as I haven't got them installed. I just received the springs today

  • Is There a Shock Kit for a Trailer with 1-3/4" Diameter Axle
I do have an option for you but none of the trailer shock kits available are designed to fit axles smaller than 3,500 lbs. That said, the Roadmaster Comfort Ride Add-On Kit part # RM-2450-50 should work as uses the existing u-bolts. The only option to increase ride quality is with the SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs part # TSS-106-40 which would be a confirmed fit.

  • Suspension Enhancement for Towing Trailer on Uneven Roads
There are a few things you can do to try to even out your towing setup when traveling on unkept roads. You can add suspension enhancement to your truck, to your trailer, and then also upgrade the connection point between truck and trailer. Obviously you'll want to make sure you have your trailer loaded correctly as well with 10-15% of the weight being on the tongue. I recommend starting out with your truck by using the SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs # SS95QR. This fits your 2019...

  • 2016 Coachmen Clipper BH17 Replacement Leaf Spring Suspension Enhancement
It looks like the springs that you have are the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 3,500-lb Trailer Axles # SP-210275. These springs do not have a lot of curve built into them at 2-3/4" when relaxed from eylet to top of spring pack. There are some 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 4,000-lb Trailer Axles # e48SR that would give you a higher curve at 4-1/4" from eyelet to top of spring pack. Please note that the axle on your camper is rated for 3500lbs so the higher capacity springs will not increase...

  • Should I Switch To Heavier Rated Leaf Springs For My Rock Climbing Trailer?
I recommend staying with the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 3,500-lb # e54SR. This will ensure that you do not have to change other parts of your suspension system and the trailer has the correct ride quality. The 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 4,000-lb # e22YR may have issues with contacting parts of the frame since the springs are 3/4-7/8" longer. To correct this your spring hangers would need to be moved. The 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 6,000-lb # e47SR would cause you to have a very...

We do have a variety of products that are designed to help absorb shock from trailer movement like what you're talking about. For example, the SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs # TSS-106-40 act like aftermarket bump stops for a vehicle but they help to cushion and add some control to your trailer suspension, but then the Shocker HD Air Receiver Hitch - Combination Ball Mount # SHK95VR is a shock absorbing ball mount that helps to isolate trailer movement from transferring to the tow vehicle. • Recommended Trailer Suspension Enhancement For Trailer That Leans To One Side
Depending on your exact 2018 Coachmen Catalina travel trailer the lean may be due to the weight of a slide or kitchen on one side of the camper and is common on several campers. I find the best way to correct this is by using SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs. The springs provide additional support to the trailer leaf springs and will help to level your Catalina. There are 2 different styles for underslung or overslung axles. Finally you will need to match weight for your trailer axles....

  • Why Did My Shackle Flip On My Tandem Axle Utility Trailer?
What most likely occurred when you were driving on the bumpy road with no weight on your utility trailer is the trailer bounced enough to upset the suspension and after it landed it caused the shackle to flip. This tends to happen a lot with trailers that carry a large amount of weight as their suspension is very ridged and the trailer bounces more than absorbs shock when it is empty. Since you just recently changed out all your nylon bushings your suspension is more prone to articulate...

  • How Much Space Is Required for the Timbren Trailer Suspension Enhancement System TTRA1032
I do have an option but the Timbren Trailer Suspension Enhancement System part # TTRA1032 requires 3" between the frame and axle/leaf springs so it won't work. I can't recommend you raise the frame from the axle to use these as the preload would not be correct. Instead, the SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs part # TSS-107-40 or part # TSS-106-40 is what I recommend and you would actually lift the trailer frame from the axle to install these as they are designed to be installed with a preload.

Yes, you can upgrade the leaf springs on a Coachmen Clipper 17FQ to a higher rated set just keep in mind the ride may be a bit stiffer. I have attached a list of our leaf spring options for you but if you can provide me with the unloaded eye to eye measurement I can then recommend a suitable replacement. • What Causes Trailer Leaf Springs To Break Continuously
Yes, leaf springs must be replaced in pairs which is why one side left go and then the other shortly after. In regards to the stent you get on a full set of leaf springs, there are really a ton of variables present here so it is hard to predict. However, if you are a full-timer then odds are your trailer is going to be subjected to harder conditions and most likely more weight than the average trailer therefore your suspension components will wear faster. • Correct SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs for a Travel Trailer
I do have an option for you but if you're looking to install SumoSprings on a travel trailer you'll be looking at either the SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs part # TSS-107-40 for overslung axles or part # TSS-106-40 for underslung axles. I do have a better solution for the problem you are running into with your 2019 Forest River Viking 17BH. • Choosing Between SumoSprings or Shocks for 2020 Keystone Hideout
I would choose the SumoSprings over Lippert shocks for your 2020 Keystone Hideout. The SumoSprings have a simple installation and won't require drilling in your frame. They also have a progressive spring rate so they become more rigid the more weight you add to your trailer. The SumoSprings work just like shock absorbers and also reduce body roll, sway, and compensate for off-center loads like slide-outs. You will need a quantity of two, one for each axle. You can certainly upgrade to heavier duty leaf springs, but you'll still be limited to the capacity of the axles, unless you replace the axles as well. I think the best option is to go with the same capacity leaf springs, but then add helper springs to the axles such as SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs # TSS-107-40 if you have overslung axles (springs sit over axles) or SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs # TSS-106-40 if you have underslung axles (springs sit under axles). In order to determine the correct SumoSprings Leaf Spring Enhancement System for your trailer, you need to need the weight capacity of the axles and if you have an overslung or underslung axle (which I'll explain). Based on your 2017 Montana's weight, both available kits have the right capacity, so all you need to do is find out if your Montanta has an overslung (springs sit over axle) or underslung axle (springs sit under axle). All this means is the position of the leaf springs relative...
