Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Very nice quality hitch and wiring harness. 24 Subaru Crosstrek. Easy half hour install on the hitch and 10 minute plug and play on the trailer harness. Very helpful folks at etrailer and super fast shipping

This hitch is very well made, very solid, and capable of towing more than my car will handle. So far, though, I have only used it to hold a bike rack, which is my primary reason for buying this rack. I no longer need to lift bikes to the rooftop. I like that it also will accept 1/2 inch and 5/8inch hitch pins. After a year, it does have a couple rust spots underneath on some sharp angles where the paint has flaked off.

Solid hitch. Ive used it so far only to attach my Kuat bike rack. I did take the bikes up some rugged 4WD roads and it was very tight. Kept the bikes from moving around at all. Quite pleased so far. Should have ordered the wiring harness when I ordered the hitch.

The wiring harness I recommend for the 2019 Subaru Crosstrek is Tekonsha 4-pole flat part # 118467. The Tekonsha brand has a reliable reputation and the converter boxes seem to last longer compared to other brands.

After shopping around went with the Draw-Tite hitch based on reviews and great price from etrailer.com. Hitch arrived earlier than estimated and installation was simple with the provided instructions. The installation videos were key in making the install go smoothly with a couple tips that came in handy. Couldn't be happier with the finished product which is providing more than enough support/security for a 2" Yakima Holdup bike rack

Subaru XV Crosstrek

2024 Crosstrek - installed the hitch today, about an hour ten minutes, taking my time. Since I was installing alone I opted to remove the muffler (4 minutes) for less interference during the install. I positioned the hitch under the vehicle and used some rope then lifted and tied off the hitch to the muffler supports so I didn't have to struggle with the weight when I positioned the hitch to accept the bolts. This is my second Draw-Tite hitch, they seem to be build very well.

by:

Works great, looks good. I installed it myself with the use of a floor jack to hold most of the weight up while I fiddled with the mounting hardware. I've only used it for light duty operations on my 2019 Crosstrek - bike carrier, cargo carrier and truck bed extender used vertically to hold the back of a long kayak. 1 year later hardware is still tight and no rust. 5 stars.

Still great. No issues at all.

by:

Easy to install. On our 2024 Crostrek Wilderness. The top of the receiver is at 15” might be helpful for determining drop or lift of ball.

by:

Installed the hitch in just under an hour. Went on just as the instructions said it would. Everything from the ease of ordering, to the on time delivery to the videos and instructions was great. Would guy recommend etrailer!

Heading out this weekend with the mountain bikes and can’t wait!

Ordering was easy with online tools. Received the hitch very quickly, before expected. After watching the video telling us how to install, installation went very smoothly. Able to install in well under 1 hour. Haven't used it, installation looks good, as in the picture. Will try it soon.

2021 Subaru Crosstrek

Overall I've been exceedingly happy with this hitch from start to finish. This is the first hitch that I've even installed and the video tutorials and instructions from etrailer were super-helpful. A couple of notes: The box that it was shipped in was pretty mangled when it arrived, which was noted in a couple of reviews, and there was some chipped paint here and there but nothing substantial. I actually appreciate not having to sift through a ton of Styrofoam and cardboard packing material and as the hitch is heavy gauge steel a few scuffs aren't going to do anything. The other thing is the install process - it's straightforward but the thing is a bad combination of awkward and heavy so having a second person is a must. Having a hydraulic lift would also be helpful, but even with jack-stands it was definitely doable. Total time was right around 2 hours, which is what I figured, with me by myself except for a few minutes of my wife holding one end of it while I got the bolts tightened. We've used it a handful of times so far and it's worked flawlessly. Very happy with this purchase!

2023 Subaru Crosstrek

Took a couple hours to install, but over all fit my 2023 Sport well. The suggested wiring harness install went well also.

by:

When purchased 1/2/23 had delivery date of Friday 1/6/23 which would have given me weekend to install or so was initial plan. When looked at ettailer order 1/6/23 in am to see where and when to expect delivery date was changed to 1/10/23 . Last correspondence from ups hitch departed Utah 1/4/23 at 2:30am then no availability of being scanned in ups system until 1/8/23 Syracuse 7:32am then delivery 1/9/23 placed on front porch in front of door so couldn’t open door. Thanks ups .. hitch was protruding from box in multiple locations and could see tears in box from hitch pushing through box in multiple locations .Packaging obviously not able to handle delivery method. Multiple areas of bare metal from contact in some spots the 1/4” steal looks as if a grinder was taken to it maybe from being slid or dragged across concrete. Here in NY state salt is used on roads in winter and would have hoped the painted hitch would have lasted longer than a month in NY before it will begin to rust. If you look in your records this is the third hitch purchased in the last 6 years do to trading in of past vehicles. Each were shipped to residence and this is the worst yet. I understand you can not control the handling of package during shipment but maybe a rubber or plastic piece could be tapped to hitch on specific points of concern for shipment. Obviously this could not be the only time this has happened where the hitch was falling out of the box it was shipped in and causing damage to hitch. E trailer needs to ship in a better stronger box or give protection to areas of concern.

Everything arrived as promised. Looks good, but now is the true tes: the installation, however that should be a piece of cake!! Thanks a bunch trailer!!

2018 Subaru Impreza

I debated on the evo hitch or this one due to a cleaner look and a little better ground clearance on my Impreza. I chose to go with this one and it does the trick. I watched the video on how to install it and was able to install in about 30 minutes. My particular car didn’t require grinding to allow the hardware to fit. I have a 2018 and installed this by myself in my driveway. I chose to take the 2 14mm bolts out of the exhaust and remove it out of my way. I used a floor Jack to raise the hitch into place while I fed the hardware into place. Watching the video provided on the product page made a huge difference and eliminated a lot of reading and guessing. The fitment is perfect and it came with everything necessary to install. Shipping was fast, even though UPS beat up the hitch a little bit. Definitely pleased with the company, hitch and up to date information on my order.

by:

Great looking hitch, well made. Installation was not technically difficult. My only complaint: the supplied instructions could be clearer. If I had to do it again, I’d just go ahead and take the muffler off first. Also, those little coiled wires you use to pull the bolts through the frame? Leave those on the bolts, thread the wire through the holes in the hitch, and use them to keep the bolts form being pushed back into the frame when you’re mounting the hitch. A floor jack comes in really handy.

by:
2018 Subaru Crosstrek

Your installation videos sold me on your product, but the actual installation went even easier than I envisioned. The Draw-Tight trailer hitch worked perfectly for my vehicle.

And after paying for trailer hitches to be installed for many vehicles, this is the first time I installed one myself and saved a significant amount doing so. For anyone with basic mechanical skills, a torque wrench and a basic socket set I highly recommend your company and the hitch and wiring harness I installed.

Accompanying photos might help someone else.

Quite pleased with hitch, perfect for my Crosstrek.

by:

Great product, little overkill on my subaru impreza hatchback but works great, took me longer than recommended installation time. I really needed the right tools to disconnect the exhaust, and a taller lift, would have been so much easier to install, can't wait to get a light storage rack/bike rack

by:

Great hitch, about two hours start to finish. The hitch is very strong but the car is not. DO NOT TRY TO PULL ANYTHING!!! Great as a bicycle or cargo rack receiver but again this is not the vehicle to use for towing anything as the unibody frame the hitch bolts up to is very thin and I fear it will just break free if you stress it to much. Again a great hitch if you are not going to pull a trailer. Only used a handful of wrenches 14mm X 2 and 11/16" for the main bolts. I removed the muffler altogether rather than do it the way shown in the video of lowering it on a ratchet strap. Only two bolts and three rubber hangers. I did not use ant type of lube on the rubber muffler hangers as oil and rubber are not a good mix. With just a little effort the muffler came loose. The other thing that makes this hitch stand out from the other options is that you do not have to drill or enlarge any of the original holes in the cars frame. VERY GOOD FOR A BICYCLE OR CARGO RACK BUT DO NOT TRY TO PULL ANYTHING BUT A VERY LIGHT TRAILER!!!! THE CAR IS NOT MADE FOR IT.

According to Subaru, the Crosstrek has a 1500 lb towing capacity. Although the hitch has a higher capacity, youll be limited to the capacity of the lowest rated component which is the vehicle in this case.

by:
2018 Subaru Impreza

Great product overall well made and pretty easy to install. Literally did it in a driveway without a lift in just over an hour. One thing not mentioned in the video is the lack of access to the rearmost bolt on the passenger side. Easy to get snug but hard to fit a deep socket into to torque it to spec. This is necessary due to the extra bolt length. Only reason for a 4 star review is I was a bit bummed that some of the finished black coating had already chipped off. Not a big deal but I’m from the Northeast and they salt pretty heavily.

It is unfortunate that the hitch is chipped. I recommend to use a rust resistant spray paint like Rustoleum to touch up the hitch and I will have our Customer Service reach out to you.

This was my second hitch I've bought from etrailer and I'll likely by another.

2020 Subaru Crosstrek

I bought a hitch for my Subaru crosstrek in July and didn’t receive it. They said that they will conduct an investigation before refunding/replacing the item. I was desperate because after 2 months, nothing happened and Emily asked me to get a police report which is not necessary because I can’t prove that it was stolen. I called them about the problem and Carol was so quick to resolve it and send me a replacement. Thanks Carol!

Installed it on my 2019 Impreza and it looks great took me 1hour to install. If I have the proper tools probably take me 20 min. I did not have to shave the hole to make it bigger to install the mounts...great hitch!!!!

I would not recommend this hitch for impreza. The hitch is to low and if you hit a small bump it bottoms out and hits the bump. Another thing if you use a bike rack the angle of the hits makes it even lower when you get in parking lots that is angled you will bottom out. For impreza owners I would not recommend it. Its been a year for me and I removed my bike rack because I cant use it because it is to low. I wish the sales rep when I talked to him would have recommend another 2” rack than this one.

One year review , first thanks etrailer. for Followup regarding product purchased from you and to follow up a whole year after purchase is amazing to me.. it shows that you care about the products you sell ! The draw tite hitch I Installed on my Subaru crosstrek has performed as intended : from pulling my boat , to pulling logs to be cut into firewood , to pulling log splitter around , to pulling a buddies truck out of a ditch lol ..I also want to point out in NY winter roads are heavily salted to remove snow and ice and cars and trucks rust away and this hitch has yet to show any signs of rust.. thanks again for asking .. hope this review helps

2018 Subaru XV Crosstrek

I’m very happy with the Draw-Tite 2” trailer hitch receiver installed on a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek.
My main reason for choosing it over the competitors was the added strength, even thought all I use it for is a bike rack it’s good to know if I ever need to tow anything the receiver could handle it. All aspects of the the receiver show quality in assembly with a durable coating. Installation was easy! Didn’t have to lift the vehicle, just basic tools.
Shipping was FAST too!

by:

The Drawtite rack I purchased from etrailer is pretty awesome! I bought it instead of some of the others offered for three reasons. 1) Tongue weight and trailer weight specifications are substantially higher. 2) It tucks up really close to the rear valence so I don't lose clearance, but also provides extra protection, a bit like a rock tail (not that I am likely to ever need it...). 3) It is a super sturdy piece of kit. I mean the thing looks and feels like a piece of ballistic hardware.

Working with etrailer was a great experience. Their videos explaining the features and installation for all of the receiver hitches available for my CrossTrek made it easy to choose the right one for my needs. Ordering was simple. Pricing was competitive. Shipping was fast, and free is I had wanted. I opted for the $14.95 3 to 5 day shipping option and my hitch arrived in 4 days, which made it easy for me to schedule some time on a friends lift. (Yes, it is nice to have a friend who has a lift in his garage... I highly recommend that you get one... ;-)

The only thing I would recommend to etrailer is that they do a better job of wrapping the frame attachment flanges for shipping. Both flanges broke through the bottom of box. Not a big deal because the thing isn't going bend from being dropped, but it is a little bit of a bummer to have my new hitch have scratches in the paint.

I highly recommend both DrawTite and etrailer.

2010 Subaru XV Crosstrek

Very pleased with this hitch. Construction and quality are terrific. I will be using it mostly with a Yakima “Dr. Tray” bicycle carrier and occasionally with a small utility trailer. Installation of the hitch was relatively easy and took about 1Hr and 30 min. ETrailer’s video was a great help. Removing the muffler as recommended really helped give ease of access. The one part that proved to be a bit difficult was the rear most mounting bolt and nut on the passenger side of the Crosstrek (the mounting bolt without the spacer block). The length of that bolt required me to use a deep socket and that made it very difficult to fit the torque wrench in place. The other three bolts were quite easy to get at. The wiring harness installation was super easy and took only about 10 min.

  • Recommended 2 Inch Trailer Hitch for 2018 Subaru Impreza Hatchback
You are correct that there are a couple 2 inch trailer hitches available for your 2018 Subaru Impreza, the EcoHitch # 306-X7350 and the Draw-Tite # 76209. The primary difference between the two models is their visibility behind the vehicle which is why I recommend the EcoHitch # 306-X7350. The EcoHitch features a unique hidden design where only the 2 inch receiver will actually be visible behind the Impreza. The Draw-Tite model on the other hand is extremely visible and on the Impreza...

The EcoHitch part # 306-X7350 would actually have the best ground clearance as only the hitch opening hangs below the rear bumper. This allows for better ground clearance around corners where the rear of the vehicle would be angled and also where most ground clearance issues happen.

  • Does Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch for 2019 Subaru Crosstrek Have Hidden Design Like Curt Trailer Hitch
The crosstube on the Draw-Tite # 76209 actually lines up with the trailer hitch receiver so is not hidden like the Curt # C13382. The only other 2 options for your 2019 Subaru Crosstrek that feature a hidden crosstube are the etrialer.com # e98912 which is like the Curt or the EcoHitch # 306-X7365 which has a unique design where the receiver can be removed for a completely OEM look. I have attached some installation videos for the various trailer hitch options so you can get an idea of...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2018 Subaru Crosstrek for Bike Rack
Whenever available I like to recommend a 2 inch hitch as they are the most common and rated the best. This means that there will be more bike racks made for it and they will be easily carried. For your 2018 Subaru Crosstrek I really like the EcoHitch part # 306-X7365 as it is a 2 inch hitch that can have the hitch tube remove when not needed so that there would be not hitch visible when you don't need it. I realize this is a pretty expensive option, so we do have the Draw Tite part # 76209...

  • Concealed and Visible Trailer Hitch Options for 2018 Subaru Crosstrek
For your 2018 Subaru Crosstrek we offer several hitch options, all shown on the linked page, that include both 1-1/4-inch Class II and 2-inch Class III types. We generally always recommend the 2-inch option when it is available since these hitches typically offer a higher weight capacity for towing and much broader compatibility with the range of available accessory items like bike racks and cargo baskets. We also have hitches # C13382 (2-inch) and # C12184 (1-1/4-inch) from Curt that...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2018 Subaru Impreza to Tow Motorcycle Trailer
We have hitches available for your 2018 Subaru Impreza that would be able to handle the weight of a 500-600 lb motorcycle carrier like the Draw Tite part # 76209 as it has a 675 lb tongue weight capacity, but from the research I did on your vehicle it looks like it's limited to only 350 lbs of tongue weight so this wouldn't be ideal with a motorcycle carrier. Your best option would be a small trailer for carrying the motorcycle. For that you'd need wiring part # 118629 for if you have...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2018 Subaru Impreza Wagon
The trailer hitch I recommend for your 2018 Subaru Impreza Wagon is the Draw Tite part # 76209 because it has a 2 inch opening which most bike racks and accessories are made for, and because it has plenty of tongue weight capacity for your bike racks at 675 lbs. If you are in need of a bike rack, I really like the Saris SuperClamp EX part # SA4025F. This is a platform bike rack that only touches the bike at the tires and only weighs 35 lbs. The biggest drawback to platform bike racks...
