Installation of Curt Trailer Hitch C13382 on 2019 Subaru Crosstrek
Question:
I have a new Subaru Crosstrek and want to install a trailer hitch. I like the Curt product but am not excited about enlarging the holes and cutting a slot for the plates. One of the reviews says the Draw-Tite uses 7/16inch bolts vs 1/2inch for the Curt so there is no need to enlarge the holes or cut the slot. My question is can I get a bolt package for the Draw-tite and use it for the Curt hitch? This seems like an easier solution. Thanks.

The Draw Tite # 76209 and Curt # C13382 are 2-inch Class III hitches both confirmed to fit your 2019 Subaru Crosstrek. You are correct that the Draw-Tite includes four 7/16-inch carriage bolts while the Curt hitch includes 1/2-inch diameter bolts. I cannot recommend using anything other than the included hardware to mount either hitch. Doing so will void the hitch warranty.
It may not be necessary to enlarge the access holes on your Crosstrek. If this step is needed to gain access to the interior of the frame rails the amount of material you would need to remove should be quite small. Sometimes this just depends on the thickness of the paint applied to the car's frame.
Overall the USA-made Curt hitch # C13382 will offer a slightly easier installation and its cross tube will be concealed behind the rear fascia for a more discrete appearance. Please refer to the linked photo of the Curt hitch installed. The Draw-Tite # 76209 has higher weight ratings but its cross tube will be visible.
