This ball mount gives me the adjustment I needed on my Dodge Grand Caravan when I rent different trailers. The part that goes into the hitch does have a little play but it is no worse than my current fixed height ball mount. The adjustable ball mount with the 2 pins also has about a 1/8" play so be ready for that if you buy this adjustable ball mount. That would be the only improvement I think they could make in the future is to have the pins a little larger and/or the holes a little smaller to reduce the play. However, this might just be the way these need to be designed at this price point based on the research I have done with other adjustable hitches.

Unit worked, but the fit between the 2.5" adapter and the hitch was loose. It caused the trailer to rock back and forth with every application of the brakes. Had to make shims to stop unit from clanking. Felt like if length of attaching piece was longer it would had helped. Attached picture to help illustrate.

It was one of the few things that gave me enough drop to hook my Truck up to my small utility trailer! hook my Tahoe up to my small utility trailer

I have a new 2020 Chevrolet Traverse which replaced a 2017 model. I travel between New York State and Florida each winter hauling a small cargo trailer, This year I discovered the trailer was not riding level as it did with the previous car and was about 6 to8 inches high at the front of the trailer. Aside from the appearance factor this condition made it difficult to load and unload the trailer, the contents of which tended to gravitate toward the rear. After unloading I looked at a few hitch replacements but none had sufficient "drop" to rectify this condition. This less than satisfactory solution and the price prompted me to look elsewhere. I got on line at etrailer.com and found the answer to my problem at a more reasonable price. The adjustable hitch is a heavy duty unit and my troubles are history.

This product was received and installed on the follow day (today). It was installed into a C13587 Curt trailer hitch receiver bought from etrailer previously and installed onto a Mercury Montery FuddyDuddyMoble. My concern all along has been pulling a small boat with this vehicle, but, the video for the this trailer hitch receiver IS THE SAME VEHICLE (but the Ford version) as I have, and mine has a factory installed Class II towing package. EVERYTHING went extremely smooth. etrailer's videos are clear, helpful and instill confidence. This adjustable ball mount slipped easily into the receiver, the pins (2) slipped into the connection easily, AND, the snap lock pins were easily assembled by hand. I was thinking they might require some force with a tool, but it wasn't necessary. I only have one warning about etrailer's recommendations and products: They'll make you think you're a better mechanic than you actually are.

by:

I use it on my 112 foot utility trailer and it works great . I did have to get the right length so it would fit thru the receiver fOr a 2 ' BALL

by:

Excellent customer service makes purchasing my trailer equipment a breeze

by:

It's just a ball mount but what really stands out is the ease of use of their web site and the excellent delivery time.

Have purchased several items in the past and always excellent delivery time. I've never had to contact customer service which in itself say everything.

If you need anything to do with trailer or attaching trailer to vehichles this is the place to go.

  • Adjustable Ball Mount Option that Can do Drop of 10 inches and is Cost Effective
Clearance issues with the collar lock style of trailer couplers are not typical. I'd be inclined to believe the issue is related to the ball mount you have now not having the clearance. We have the Convert-a-Ball adjustable ball mount # TK5007 which can do a drop of up to 10 inches and is priced really great. This gives a very standard ball mount platform too so clearance would not be an issue. I attached a review video for this for you to check out as well.

  • Does Brophy Ball Platform Have Vertical Adjustment Holes 1-1/4 Apart on Center
According to the review video we have of the Brophy # RTB1 ball platform those holes used to vertically adjust this piece are 2" apart on center. It kind of sounds like you have a shank for a weight distribution system as the 1-1/4" height measurement tends to be a standard with those. Since the head unit for a weight distribution system tends to be a bit pricey I recommend just replacing the whole thing with a more cost-effective whole unit like the Convert-a-Ball # TK5007 or even the...

There are a few factors that you will need to consider when choosing a trailer hitch for your 1999 Ford F-150 XLT 4x4.
