Thule UpRide Installed On Car

The UpRide wheel-mount bike rack lets you transport 1 bike of nearly any size or frame style on your roof rack crossbars. The adjustable hook and cage make it easy to load your bike without removing your front wheel. It makes no contact with your bike's frame so it's perfect for carbon frame bikes. The rear-wheel cradle slides along the tray to accommodate your bike's wheelbase. And you can add One-Key System locks to the integrated cable and front mounting lever to secure your bike to the rack and the rack to your vehicle.

Quick and Easy Loading

Thule UpRide Padded Hook - Ajustable SettingsThule UpRide Padded Hook

The UpRide lets you quickly and easily load your bike. The wheel hook has 5 settings to accommodate common tire sizes. To set the hook for your wheel simply pull the knob and slide it to your desired setting. Set your bike's front wheel in the cradle and roll it up against the hook. The hook holds your bike upright so your hands are free to finish the loading process.

Thule UpRide Wheel Cage

With the hook holding your wheel in place you can raise the wheel cage up and ratchet it against your tire until it's snug. The wheel cage puts downward pressure on the wheel as it sits in the cradle to ensure that your bike does not shift during transport. The hook, the wheel cage, and the cradle make no contact with your bike frame so it's the rack perfect for carbon frame bikes.

Thule UpRide Folded Down

The hook and wheel cage have release buttons so you can fold them down when you're not transporting your bike. This increases overhead clearance and allows the rack to remain installed when you are parking in a garage or other low-clearance area.

Sliding Rear-Wheel Cradle

Thule UpRide Sliding Rear-Wheel Cradle

The rear-wheel cradle slides along the wheel tray to accommodate bikes of different lengths. It has a ratcheting strap that secures diagonally across the bike wheel. This creates more surface contact with the rim and improves stability when compared with standard cradle straps. To undo the strap simply press the quick-release button. You can also use an adapter (sold separately) to transport your fat bike.

Easy Installation

Thule UpRide T-Channel Installation

The rack mounts to your crossbars with included T-rack hardware or clamps - no tools required. To install the rack using the T-tracks, just insert the short T-bolts into the bottom of the rack, slide the T-bolts into the channels on your crossbars, and tighten them down using the cam-action levers.

Thule UpRide Clamp-On Installation

You can also clamp the rack around your crossbars. Simply set the rack on your crossbars, slide the long T-bolts into the open ends of the mounting brackets, and tighten down the cam-action levers.

Optional Locks

Thule UpRide Locking Cable

You can add One-Key System lock cylinders (sold separately) to the integrated cable in the tray and to the front mounting assembly to secure your bike to the rack and the rack to your vehicle. These lock cores can be swapped out to make all your Thule accessories keyed alike.

Thule UpRide Locking Cable

To lock your bike to the rack with a cylinder installed simply slide the cable out, wrap it through your bike frame, and insert the cable tip into the lock hub.

Very easy to use (once you do it a couple of times). I have ebikes and they handled the weight (48lbs each). The biggest issue I have with this racking system is wishing there was a left and right models of it...unless I didn't see one when ordering.

by:

Basically, bolt it to your rack and you're ready to go. Easy to use once you do it a few times. My only complaint is for $200 they could throw in a lock core. Also, this etrailer response is incorrect, it is actually pretty simple to swap the operation of the rack to work on the driver's side (without having your bike face the wrong direction). Two plastic locks hold the main assembly together, unlock, take the hook out and put in the other way. The loop thing at the front is held in by one allen bolt on the bottom; take it out, swap the direction. Finally, the rear tire strap slides out the back; reverse it and slide it on. It takes longer to put the carrier on /off your rack than to swap the direction (not more than 10 minutes).

by:

It's a bit more complex than my older Thule rack that clamps to the bikes frame. It does mount securely and holds the bike fine. The security cable for locking your bike is a literal joke, the lock body is plastic, and the cable is so thin you can cut it with hand held wire cutters. Took a bit of time to flip the components to use on the driver's side of the car, but it was not hard to do. Doesn't cause as much wind noise as I anticipated fortunately. Unpleasantly learned it is incompatible with fenders, so I have to remove mine when using this rack. I'll probably sell the rack and get something different down the road.

by:

Great bike rack.

by:

These bike racks are the absolute best! The quality is amazing; the simplicity is second to none. I would highly recommend this rack.

by:

The Thule parts are well made. Everything fit together perfectly. The only drawback is the cost and all of the extras that you have to get to install the rack system.
etrailer folks were perfect and supplied a list of extras that I would need to finish the installation. I have purchased items from them in the past and will continue to buy in the future.

by:

Had this for two years now. It's okay. The best part about it: it fit my RHINO rack perfectly, and the install was simple considering it's a separate brand. It rests fairly quietly. I don't like the design that much, however, it is built for multiple sized wheels and bikes.

it rocks back and forth with a bike a bit too much, however, that again my be by design b/c of wind while you're on the freeway. Pretty easy to mount and dismount, especially if you're tall.

by:

The rack keeps my bike safe and I drive at 80mph without noise, very easy to install and easy to place the bike

by:

Excellent!! Mounted and ready to ride!!

by:

Excellent service and product as usual.

by:

Great service from etrailer and fast shipping. Bike rack was easy to assemble and install.

by:

I like the way this bike rack works and secures the bike. etrailer was fast to ship and everything arrived on time. I like their personal emails that update the status of purchases.

by:

The channel connectors worked great with my OEM Mini Cooper Cross Bars. Very happy!

by:

One of the racks I received was missing a plastic piece on the lock portion making it unusable.

by:

Ship time took a little longer than expected. Item boxes arrived damaged but prouduct was in good shape.

by:

Thank etrailer for getting us this bike rack. It was very hard to find and you able to provide it to us when it was promised!

by:

Thule upride bike ride arrived when promised and performed as expected.
Easy to install and use.
Great price and service from etrailer made it all the sweeter!

by:

  • Thule Wingbar Roof Rack, Bike Rack, and Cargo Box Recommendation for 2011 Subaru Impreza Hatchback
Hey Mark! Thanks for the kind words and business! The correct Thule Wingbar roof rack for your 2011 Subaru Impreza hatchback that has a totally naked roof would be the # TH711220, # TH460R, and # THKIT3068 that you referenced. For a roof cargo box the Thule Motion XT part # TH629707 is a really great option for you size vehicle. It has 16 cubic feet of cargo space and has overall dimensions of 77" long x 36" wide x 17" tall which will fit your hatchback roof well and will look great...

  • Can the Thule UpRide Carry Childrens Bikes
The Thule UpRide Roof Bike Rack - Wheel Mount - Clamp On or Channel Mount - Aluminum # TH599000 can carry children's bikes with wheels as small as 20" in diameter; as long as the bike you're wanting to carry has that diameter tire or larger you'll be just fine. I'm not aware of a roof mounted bike carrier that will carry bikes with smaller than 20" tires, so if you've got a smaller tire on your children's bikes you may need to go with a trunk mounted carrier for that bike. I recommend...

  • Is There a Roof Mount Bike Rack for Thule TracRac Ladder Rack
The crossbars on a Thule TracRac Ladder Rack are too large for most wrap-around style roof mount bike racks. Therefore, your only option is channel mount roof bike racks like the Thule UpRide Roof Bike Rack part # TH599000 which I like since you don't have to remove the wheel. That said, if you prefer a different rack you take a look at the list below which are all track mount.

We can certainly help you with that. I recommend the Thule SquareBar system on your 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. It uses the 60 inch bars, part # TH712500. The square crossbars are the most universal design and accomadate a large variety of accessories. If you're mounting the rack with the Jeep's hard top then use the Rapid gutter feet, part # TH65BJ. On the other hand if the top is off you need the Evo raised rail feet, part # TH710401. Then you could use 3 of the UpRide bike rack...

  • Wheel Mount Roof Bike Rack for a 2013 Ford Explorer with Factory Roof Rack
I checked with Thule and they only list fork mount bike racks as a fit for the factory roof rack on your 2013 Ford Explorer so that would exclude the UpRide # TH599000. Yakima does have a similar rack called the HighRoad # Y02114. Both Thule and Yakima make quality racks so I would not necessarily say one is better than the other for roof bike racks.
