Video Transcript for Review of Draw-Tite RV and Camper Hitch - Adjustable Frame Mount Hitch - 82201

Jeff: Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a look at this Draw-Tite adjustable two-inch motor home trailer hitch. Now, this is an adjustable trailer hitch receiver. It's designed for use on RVs. It can be bolted to the vehicle frame or welded on for a no-drill application.

Basically, these frame brackets right here on the very end, they are adjustable to fit a variety of frame widths. If you unbolt it right here, you're able to slide those brackets to whatever position you need. They just slide along the cross tube to fit your application. They will adjust anywhere from 47 inches all the way out to where they are now at 71 inches wide. This is a nice, black powder-coated steel construction.

It's very sturdy and corrosion resistant. Now, the trailer hitch itself has a two inch by two inch receiver opening. If you notice right here, they do include the holes for your safety chain hookups to attach to. It does also include this mounting bracket right over here. That allows you to install your trailer's electrical connector to it. It does come with everything shown here, all the mounting hardware you need with a nice set of detailed instructions. Now, this is for use with RV approved accessories only.

Weight capacity on this is 3,500 pounds. Tongue weight capacity is 300 pounds. Last thing I want to do is give you some dimensions on this. So if we measure right now, I have it in the furthest position. So if we measure the overall maximum overall width from outside to outside, it's right at 71 inches.

From the mounting holes, center to center, it's right at 68 inches. And then the mounting holes front to back center to center, right at eight and a half inches. Now, one note on this, this is a general application product, so the installer needs to select a structurally safe location for attachment of this hitch. But that should do it for the review on the Draw-Tite adjustable two-inch motor home trailer hitch.

We bought this hitch so we could carry our two E-bikes on the tail end of our travel trailer. Mounting the hitch to our Rockwood trailer took some thought and effort, but it all worked out. We also bought a Swagman E-Spec bike rack, a Curt 14" hitch extender and a Malone Anti-Rattle hitch lock from etrailer. The combined weight of our two e-bikes, minus the batteries is about 108 pounds. Everything together, along with the support I made for the hitch extender, to take the bounce out of the whole system, works great!

by:

Fits perfectly everything works great to add bikes to back of travel trailer. Only complaint is that hitch was not shipped in box. Delivered with paint chips and scratches.

by:

Amazed at how quick etrailer had the hitch at my doorstep! Very satisfied!

by:

Hitch did bolt right up to the existing bracket that was welded to the frame on a 2016 keystone fuzion toy-hauler . Only notification was to move the license plate light approx 1 1/2 inch on bumper. There’s a fine line on moving the light because if you move it to high the ramp door will crush it !
Works great

by:

Still glad I purchased this receiver. It held up great on the back of our travel trailer and will be moved to our new fifth wheel soon. I would recommend this product.

by:

I installed (welded) this hitch about a year ago into the frame on our 24' TT. The mount is very solid and has performed flawlessly on multiple hauls (we sometimes trailer a SXS behind our TT). I incorporate a sway-bar whenever we pull the SXS trailer behind the TT for safety. This hitch is a good concept, very heavily built and easy to customize and install with basic metal working skills (cutting/grinding/drilling/welding), depending on your trailer/RV frame. I can highly recommend this hitch if you're looking for a way to tow behind your TT. Please remember to check your tongue weights and use anti-sway devices for your safety and the safety of your fellow motorists. Happy Motoring!

by:

Etrailer is my favorite online store for projects like this. This hitch is exactly what I was looking for at a reasonable price. I’ve added this hitch to a KZ fifth wheel camper. Install was tricky on the camper due to the stabilization jacks in the way but not the fault of the hitch at all. weld or bolt on option. Based on other reviews I went with weld on.

by:

Easy install! Perfect fit and a great way to haul a bike or utility rack safely behind a travel trailer.

by:

Great fit on 21 twilight 30, trailer. Moved stabilizer back 15” and mounted at end of frame. Make it easy and buy a good hardened 1/2” bit and mounts fast. Good floor jack helps a lot.

by:

Just what I needed. Easy install. Works great.

by:

Great product, nice and sturdy! I pull a small trailer behind my 5th wheel and it works great!!

by:

Received this hitch faster than expected! The instructions provided made installation easy. The on-line dimensions provided made my purchase decision easier and confirmed it was the only hitch that would fit my 5th wheel camper. I have purchased other products from etrailer.com in the past and will not hesitate to do so in the future! Great company which takes customer concerns seriously!

by:

It was an easy install. I would recommend welding it in which is why I plan to do. Flexes too much just being bolted up.

by:

I recently ordered a hitch to put on the back of my 5th wheel trailer. The website is great and I was able to find exactly what I needed. Product was just as expected other than it got there sooner than I anticipated!!

by:

This was the only product I found that met the need for installing on the back end of my 5th wheel trailer. It was an easy install and will meet the need of pulling a small trailer behind the RV.

Dan B:What brand of fiver is yours? I have a Rockwood Ultra lite. Model 8289 WS . Wondering if this will fit my unit.Terry K.

Terry, I have a Keystone Cougar X-lite and it has a box tube extension off the bottom and end of the I beam frame. I was able to through bolt to box tube and reinforce with spacers. It reduced my ground clearance and eventually had the tube bumper raised so the hitch could be raised. It will take some fab if this is your situation as well.

by:

Insert Tube did not extend to back of fifth wheel. I needed to buy a 12"extension. Issue with this is its another pinned joint with slop. I had to weld it for stifness. Also, adds

by:

Pretty happy overall, easy to install, looks good, very solid. Was missing two
Nuts and lock washers, no big deal I had some. Shipped very fast and was a
Good price.

Still great, my jet skis havent fallen off my toy hauler!

by:

Order shipped and was delivered fast and accurately. Great service once again. Never disappointed. Thanks.

by:

Hitch fit my application perfectly. Very little trouble with the install. For my application (a 36' fifth wheel travel trailer with I beam frame), reinforcing plate should have been about 3/16" narrower. I trimmed them and they worked great. They might have been fine for a channel or box frame without trimming. Drilling the hole for the bolt in the I beam closer to the edge of the beam did not seem like a great idea, but might have worked okay. I am pleased with the product and the service. Thanks.

by:

Item as described with easy install

by:

I ended up removing the bumper on my 5th wheel and welding the hitch. Was a Perfect fit

by:

The receiver hitch was exactly as I had expected. The end brackets allowed for side or vertical mounting. I used the side mounting method so i had to cut off one and one sixteenth inch from each end. This is easily done with a band saw. Then I drilled holes in the sides of the mounting brackets to match existing side mount plate. A two hour job due to rain.

by:

This item was perfect for our use. Of course, my husband made a few changes when he attached to the RV to make it really solid. He was very pleased with the hitch. We had to purchase an extension piece to clear the attached ladder on the RV but all is good.

by:

Solid unit which bolted right up to the I beams on my 5th wheel frame. It does take a bit of work and drilling to get it installed, and its heavy so get a friend to help hold it in place while you measure and install.

by:

after 3 calls to other suppliers, all on 'back order' Etrailer had in stock. Ordering was easy and the rep knew what she was talking about. The hit h receiver shipped the same day and arrived in two days. Great service. I hope to install this weekend. installing on a 5th wheel to haul bicycles during our travels. Self install is good, less cost.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for my Geo Pro Camper
For your Geo Pro Camper with a 59" frame rails width the DrawTite Multi-Fit Motor Home Trailer Hitch part # 82201 is an excellent choice. I like the really low profile it offers allowing it to fit snugly up under the camper. It mounts with the provided hardware directly to the frame of the camper and allows you to position it where you want it as far as more inboard or more outboard depending on where you want the receiver tube opening. Then you can use a standard ball mount and hitch pin like the Curt Towing Starter Kit for 2" Hitches - 2" Ball - 3/4" Rise, 2" Drop - 7.5K # C45534. Then you will need to add the 4-way wiring like # 18252. You can then use the mounting bracket # 18144.
