  • Brake Controller Installation Instructions for a 1997 Ford with Factory Tow Package and 4-Way
We have Instructions for the installation of a brake controller on the 1997 Ford F-150 and F-250 vehicles (see link). With a factory 4-Way installed you will need to use a Universal Brake Control Wiring Adapter Ford, Land Rover, Lincoln, Mercury, item # 3035-S, and a 7-Way or 6-Way connector that to attach to the trailer connector. The options for your truck are the Universal 7-Way connector, item # 30717, or 6-Way, item # A10-6034VP, or the factory 7-Way, item # 118242. Once you have these...

In order to get 12V for your battery charger, you will only need to splice wires. You would want to us the 4-Pole Loop with Cover # HM47115, cut off one connector and splice it into the RoadMaster 6-Wire Trailer Connector # RM-910030-7. For an adapter you would then want to use the Hopkins Endurance Flex-Coil Trailer Connector Adapter - 7-Way to 6-Pole # HM47053. • Left Turn Signal on Trailer Will Not Blink but All Other Lights Work
This sounds like a ground issue. Ground problems normally show up when there is more draw on a system such as when you have the running lights on and then use another function like a turn signal or brake light. Make sure that the vehicle side and trailer side connectors are clean and free of corrosion inside and out. The main connector grounds should be attached to clean and corrosion free bare metal surfaces. The light grounds should also be attached to clean and corrosion free bare...

In order to connect the 4-Way flat connector on your truck to the 6-Way round connector on your camper, you can use the Mighty Cord Trailer Connector Adapter # A10-6034VP. This adapter will plug right into the 4-Way on the truck and provide a 6-Way round on the other end. The additional white wire is for ground and will need to be attached to a clean, bare metal surface. The other two wires form the adapter can simply be tied off and left unused, assuming you only need to power the basic...

  • After Replacing Trailer Side 4-Way Wishbone Harness with Non-Wishbone, Running Lights Dont Work
The issue is likely in how the 2 brown wires are connected and then connected to the single brown from the new 4-Way. You basically need to make the 2 running light wires into one and then butt connect to the single brown. You could use the Quick Fix, # HMC20031, twist the two running light wires together and then put the newly combined wire in place. Or you could go ahead and swap the 4-Way for a wishbone, # A20WB. There also could have been a short that fried the lights when the original...

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Lights When Some Are Not Working
First, you will want to test the trailer connector on your vehicle with a tester like part # PTW2993. I have attached a link to a video that explains how to test the vehicle wiring. Most likely, the culprit is a loose, corroded, or broken ground. You will want to check the trailer connector for any signs of corrosion or damage and then check each of the lights to make sure they have secure grounds, and the wires have not been damaged. If you find that the problem is on the vehicle side,...

  • Why Would 12 Volt Accessory Circuit of 7-Way Short Out While Towing
You didn't say which fuse is burning up so it's hard to say. But most likely it's the 12 volt accessory circuit for the 7-way you have at the rear of your truck. Either the circuit is getting overloaded by the accessories you have wired to this circuit on your trailer or there is a short somewhere on this circuit that is causing the fuse to blow. Check the circuit for cut or exposed wire and fix as necessary as that is most likely the problem. Another possibility is that corrosion on the...

I'm not certain what you're asking. If you're speaking of a 4-pole trailer wiring harness, the white wire is the ground connection, the brown wire carries the running light circuit, the green wire carries the right turn/brake lamp circuit and the yellow wire carries the left turn/brake lamp circuit. If that's not what you were needing, please let me know. I'll also link to some helpful articles about trailer wiring.

  • What Parts Needed to Convert 4-Pole Connector on Tow Dolly to Match Motorhome Connector
If your tow dolly uses a 4-pole trailer connector this means it has only stop/turn/taillights, but not electric brakes. If your Class A motor home uses a connector like # 37995 you can simply wire in the trailer-side part of this item in place of your existing 4-pole. This will provide a more reliable long-term connection than an adapter. Adapters are definitely convenient, but the additional contacts they introduce can cause connection issues if corrosion or contaminants get in. Wiring...
