This adapter allows us to use a bike rack we have across all our cars. It is perfect for light duty applications, easy to use and it can be stored in the trunk until you need it. I would definitely recommend it.

by:

It works great I kinda wish I had gotten two of them ‘mmmm

by:

I was concerned that the adapter might not fit on my 2023 Toyota Venza, LE, but it fits just fine. So, the notice that the adapter will not fit a class one hitch does not apply to the Venza, even though the Venza specifications indicates it is a class one hitch.

by:

I ordered a hitch and adaptor and it came in 2 days rather then 3 as estimated. I gave me an extra day to install ot before our vacation. It fit perfect! the installation kit and directions made the job easy peasy. was very pleased

by:

shipped promptly. Good product. Good Co mpanys

by:

Good product to upsize the receiver for Kuat bike carrier.

by:

I had to file some weld slug on 2 inch receiver. No big deal, but I had to touch up the paint.

by:

Haven't used it yet but assume it will do the job. Need it to install 2" receiver hitch bike rack on my Subaru which only has the 1.25" receiver.

Does the job as advertised. Happy with this purchase.

by:

Etrailer is by far the best place to get the stuff you need for towing! I will never go through any other company for the stuff I need!

by:

Little loose but works as expected than ks

by:

We have been purchasing parts from etrailer for years and have always had nothing short of great customer service and have no plans to do anything different. Keep up the great service

by:

With each order, it was shipped quickly and efficiently! I ordered one part wrong, return was easy and the part I needed was shipped quickly. Highly recommend etrailer.com for all of your needs.

by:

The product is well made and fit was good. The looseness of the fit was good to fit different types of locking pins but not too loose to make a loud rattling noise.

by:

Perfect fit for the car. etrailer.com knows their stuff and never disappoints. They also recommend the associated pins for this converter and both worked exactly as expected. I have purchased every hitch, component, part, converter, etc. from them since about 2005 and used their site as an invaluable reference for installation. They never fail. Love this site.

by:

Ordered a hitch for my mazda3. I already had a hitch mount bike rack I was using on another vehicle but needed an adapter to use in the new rack. Ordered the rack and adapter. Within an hour I get an email and phone call from Michelle saying I ordered an adapter that would not work with the hitch I got. She said she would correct the order and get the correct parts out immediately. Within a few days I had the hitch and correct adapter delivered to my house. Customer service like this is second to none. Can’t believe how in tune they are at going beyond what you would expect from an online company. A++++ all around. Highly recommend

by:

Works well for my bike rack on a small car. My bike rack is made for the 2" receiver on my RV. This way, I only have to have one bike rack that works for 2 vehicles

by:

Over the years I have been very happy withmy purchases from etrailer in general. This little adapter is another good purchase. I bought this one over the other offered because the finish is better. I believe the quality welding and smooth finish will help keep the corrosion at bay for a bit longer and it looks nicer. I appreciate etrailer.com putting forth the effort to provide good pictures for comparison and to ensure the overall dimensions are going to work.

by:

I found exactly what I wanted and the experience was awesome.

by:

Works Great Thanks for the professional help

by:

Fit perfectly to allow me to carry my bicycle rack.

by:

I bought this in case I wanted a hitch attachment that needed the 2" receiver. It is a sturdy piece which should be very reliable.

by:

Excellent tool for conversion. It also adds clearance between the end of the receiver and my bumper, a requirement for my car and bike rack.

by:

We received our hitch very quickly. Unfortunately it didn't fit. We've been going thru trying to get a return sticker since last Tuesday...and this is Saturday. We've called them 6 times. The last 3 were not returned.
We are not happy campers.

by:

What I need to make the conversion to my new Kuat bike rack

  • Using a 2 Inch to 1-1/4 Inch Hitch Adapter for a Bike Rack On a 2006 Nissan Sentra
I do have an option for you but neither the Malone 2" Dual Purpose Hitch Receiver part # MPG544 or the Hitch Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 80303 should be used on your 2006 Nissan Sentra as they are both class II rated and the trailer hitch you have on your 2006 Nissan Sentra is only class I rated. Furthermore, these adapters both reduce your weight capacity so you are looking at 100 lbs for the bike rack, adapter, and bikes. The best option we can offer you would...

  • Bike Rack Compatible With Curt Class I Receiver On a 2017 Hyundai Ioniq
With the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11486 for your 2017 Hyundai Ioniq only being a class I receiver you will need to use a bike rack like the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 Bike Rack # SH12G that is compatible with class I receivers. The Kuat will allow for up to 2 bikes weighing 40lbs per bike. As your Yakima Dr. Tray having the 2" hitch it is only going to be compatible with a class III receivers. Also the Hitch Adapter # 80303 that you saw is only compatible with class II receivers. Curt does...

  • Hitch Adapter for a 1-1/4 Inch Receiver on a 2009 Subaru Forrester
The Hitch Adapter 1-1/4 inch to 2 inch, part # 80303, can only be used with a Class II receiver. You will need to double-check the hitch on your Forester to be sure that it is a Class II hitch. Usually Class II hitches have a 3,500 pound capacity. If so, you can use the part # 80303. If not, and you have a Class I receiver, you can use the Hitch Adapter, part # HTAD. However, please be aware that in using an adapter you will reduce the tongue weight capacity of your hitch by 50 percent....

  • Is Hitch Adapter 80303 Designed For Towing
The Hitch Adapter part # 80303 that you referenced is an adapter designed for hitch accessories like bike racks that happen to have 2 inch shanks but it is not to be used for towing. It really wouldn't be needed for towing either as all you would need is the right size ball mount. People generally don't try to convert hitch sizes for their favorite ball mount like they do bike racks.

  • Can a 2 Inch Trailer Hitch Mount Accessory be Used on a 1-1/4 Inch Hitch on a 2011 Toyota Camry
It is possible to use your 2 inch accessories in a class II, 1-1/4 inch trailer hitch. You would have to use a hitch expander, 1-1/4 to 2 inch. However, the use of an expander will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent. It appears that the vast majority of trailer hitches for a 2011 Toyota Camry have a tongue weight capacity of 300 pounds. When using an expander, like # 80303, that capacity will be cut down to 150 pounds. This means that the weight of any...

The trailer hitches we offer for a 2017 Accord are Class l trailer hitches only carry two bikes. I recommend a couple ways to approach the problem with carrying 4 bicycles. You can use a hitch adapter like part # HTAD and carry two bikes in the carrier. using any adapters in the hitch will reduce the capacity of the hitch by 50 percent. You can then get a roof rack and bike carriers for the roof of your Accord. If you have no side rails or crossbars on the roof I recommend the Rhino-Rack...

  • Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendations for a 2003 Toyota Avalon
There are bike rack solutions for your 2003 Toyota Avalon but a bike rack with a 2 inch shank will not fit. In order to use a trailer hitch mounted bike rack with a 2 inch shank, you need a trailer hitch with a 2 inch receiver. All of the hitches available for your 2003 Toyota Avalon are Class II with a 1-1/4 inch trailer hitch receiver so a 2 inch bike rack will not fit. If your Avalon does not already have a trailer hitch, I recommend the Draw-Tite Class II Receiver # 36293. With this...

  • Use of Any Adapter Does Decrease the Hitch Tongue Weight Capacity by Half
You are experiencing a common dilemma. The use of any adapter does decrease the hitch tongue weight capacity by 50%. If your MKX Class II hitch offers a 350 lbs tongue weight capacity then with an adapter the bikes and rack combined cannot exceed 175 lbs. For most applications this would be sufficient but not knowing your bikes and how much they weight I cannot tell you for certain if this will work.Should you decide to go with an adapter we would recommend an anti rattle lock to secure...

You can use part # HTAD if your hitch is a Class I or Class II and part # 80303 will only fit Class II. Please note, using either of these adapters will reduce your tongue weight capacity by 50 percent. • Hitch Recommendation that will fit 1-1/4 and 2 inch Hitch Sizes
There are some accessories that are compatible with hitch adapters, and there are some that are not like you mentioned. The manufacturers of the adapters will not assume the responsibility of the misuse of their product. Your best option at this point would be to go with a hitch mounted bike rack that can fit either hitch size. The Swagman XTC2, part # S64670 is one of the most popular racks because it's so easy to use, and because the rack has an angled shank that would raise the bike...

  • Is Using a Hitch Adapter for a Spare Tire Carrier Safe?
You will be alright using a Hitch Adapter # 80303 as long as you do not exceed the weight ratings. This adapter will reduce the tongue weight by 50%, which on the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12038 is 350lbs. So as long as your spare tire and carrier weights do not exceed 175lbs you are within the manufacturers specifications. The Hitch Adapter, part # 80303, that you have referenced, can only be used with a Class II receiver. The only hitches available for your 2007 Dodge Caliber are a Class I hitch. The Hitch Adapter 1-1/4 inch to 2 inch Trailer Hitch Receiver (Class II Only), item # 80303, will not slide into a Class I receiver far enough for the hitch pin hole to line up with the hitch pin hole in the Class I hitch. My recommendation is to have a custom adapter made for the height and length that you need on your 2010 Chevrolet Malibu with the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 36479. The center of the hitch pin is about 8-1/2" from your rear bumper. Any adapter that goes from a 1-1/4" receiver to a 2" receiver will reduce the weight capacity of the vehicles receiver by 50%. Since we don't carry a folding cargo carrier for 1-1/4 inch hitches, the best route is to use a hitch adapter like the Hitch Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver (Class II Only) # 80303 with a 2-inch folding option. I suggest the Hitch Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver, # 80303 as this is the shortest option available. This will extend the hitch pin out 6" from current but will allow you to use 2" accessories with your 1-1/4" hitch.
