Installation

This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. To locate this harness, you will have to remove the rear scuff panel in your trunk and pull back some of the trunk liner. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your trunk.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Powered Tail Light Converter with Surface-Mount Technology

A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a circuit-protected, battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.

Curt SMT Circuit Boards

Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.

Each Curt circuit board is made using high-quality components that are pieced together in the most technologically savvy fashion, leading to greater predictability and reliability in functioning.

Honda Odyssey

Hooked up one (Honda Accord) of two we bought, the hitch installed relatively easily and works like a champ. I haven’t been brave enough to rewire and install the trailer light kit yet.

The second hitch we bought (Honda Odyssey) is still in the box. Turns out we probably did not need it and will wait until we eventually buy a new Odyssey some day.

by:

Hopefully this is not too critical. The harness seems to do the job but the connectors do not click in like the factory ones. Not 100% confident that they will stay connected.

It might put your mind at ease to know that we request reviews on year post purchase and we have never heard of anyones connectors coming apart.

2013 Honda Accord

The C56173 harness works great on my 2013 Honda Accord EXL V6 model with LED tail light. It was easy to install thanks to connectors that fit as advertised no cutting required. You do have to run a 12 volt power cable from the battery to the trunk. This was easily accomplished using my oil change ramps purchased from Auto Zone to get under the car. Once elevated I was able to slide under the car and route the +12 volt wire from the battery to the rear of the car along existing paths excellent for tie wraps. After you get your 12 volt wire to the rear of the car there are existing factory holes along the left side of the trunk with rubber grommets that allow you to get the wire into the trunk without drilling. I would recommend this quality product for purchase.

2013 Honda Accord

This vehicle wiring harness was a replacement for the harness I had purchased and had installed by the dealership when I bought the car new. Unfortunately, that had been the wrong kit. Didn't realize at the time the car was purchased that it had LED taillights. As a result, while the turn signals and brake lights on my trailer worked, the taillights did not. This new kit for 2013-15 Honda Accords with LED taillights installed easily and now all the lights function perfectly.

I ordered the wrong wiring harness by mistake and they were very help full in returning and reordering the correct harness. It all went together as per instructions. I also ordered a trailer hitch that was very easy to mount. Great company!

by:

Plug in wiring went very well. I should have looked into how to remove buttons frist as I broke several before I figured it out. Running the 12 VDC power wire was the hardest part of the job. Install hitch also which went very well. Very happy with etrailer.com service.

2013 Honda Accord

THE HITCH INSTALLED WITH NO PROBLEMS. REGARDING THE HEAT SHIELDS I ONA HAD TO MAKE A SMALL NOTCH ABOUT 1 1/2 INCHES LONGAND BEN THE METAL AWAY.
THE WIRING WENT A LITTLE HARDER BECAUSE I HAD NO HOIST TO RAISE THE CAR UP. I TRIED TO RUN THE POS. WIRE FROM THE BATTERY INSIDE BUT FOUND THAT TO DIFFICULT SO I RAN IT UNDER THE CAR IN JACKED LINE CORD. EVERY THING CHECKS OUT OK. WILL HAVE TO WAIT FOR MY TRAILER. LEN J.

2017 Honda Accord

Works perfectly for 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid. Installation directions were easy to follow. Hardest part was to run the cable from the trunk to the battery which took some time. Other than that, works with no issues.

by:

Installation was fairly easy, the hardest part is running the power line up to the battery, I ran the power cord under the car inside of a plastic wire protector, that made the installation much easier.
The rest of the unit plugged right in and worked perfectly.
I am very satisfied.

2013 Honda Accord

Installed quickly, running the power wire to the front was not easy, not enough zip ties supplied with kit

by:
2015 Honda Accord

If it weren't for the fact of having to run a hot wire from the battery, the installation on my 2015 Accord was easy thanks to good installation instructions

  • Recommended Trailer Wiring Harness for 2014 Honda Accord LX Sedan
There are two different trailer wiring harnesses available for the 2014 Accord. The wiring harness you need will depend on whether or not your Accord has LED taillights. If your vehicle has regular incandescent taillights, use part # 118596. Or, if you DO have LED taillights, use part # C56173. Both trailer wiring harnesses would plug inline with the wiring harness that feeds the taillight assemblies. A wire will need to be ran under the vehicle up to the battery. I've linked you to a...

  • Why is Powered 4-Pole Trailer Wiring Harness Necessary on 2016 Honda Accord with LED Lights
Some vehicles need a powered trailer wiring harness with a separate power wire (rather than the passive type that just plug-in) in order to protect the car's wiring. In the case of the 2016 Honda Accord sedan this is the type of harness required, either Curt # C56299 if you have the hybrid model or the # C56173 if you have the hybrid model. I linked an article with tips for routing that power wire. The reason a powered harness is required is that the vehicle's internal wiring is of too...

For a hitch that fits your 2015 Honda Accord Hybrid you need the Curt # C11681. This is a Class I hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver. It also features a bolt-on installation and a limited lifetime warranty. Although this hitch has a maximum gross trailer weight of 2,000 lbs, you need to check your owner's manual for the towing capacity of your Accord. You will be limited by whichever is lower. For wiring with LED lights you need the Curt # C56173. This will plug into the connection points behind...

  • How Much Can a 2014 Honda Accord EX-L Tow
The towing capacity for your 2014 Honda Accord EX-L is 1,000 lbs. Therefore, so long as the loaded weight of the trailer does not exceed this then you will be good to go. If the loaded weight of the trailer does exceed the above then we cannot recommend this but you will just need to use your best discretion. If you only have the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11681 now then you will still need a trailer wiring harness and ball mount/hitch ball in order to complete your towing setup....

The Curt item # C11496 that you referenced does not include the recommended ball mount, part # 3593. With a Class I hitch like this you can only use the recommended ball mount for the hitch. For a hitch ball you would want the part # 19256 for a 1-7/8 inch ball or part # 19258 for a 2 inch hitch ball. If you have a coupe with LED taillights you would want the part # C56173 for trailer wiring or part # C56011 for with incandescent bulbs.

Be aware that this height can vary slightly as suspension systems do tend to sag over time. • Recommended Wiring Harness For A 2015 Honda Accord
It sounds like you are on the right track. The Curt T-connector # C56173 will be a good fit for your 2015 Honda Accord provided it has LED tail lights. If it does not have LED tail lights you will want the # C56011 instead. Both of these are pretty standard T harnesses which plug in behind the passenger and driver side tail lights. You will also have to run a wire to the battery for 12v power. I have linked our install video below if you want to take a look.
