This jack will take the work out of lifting and lowering your trailer. The 30-amp motor ensures trouble-free operation and consistent power with the flip of a switch - no need for a crank. It also has helical-cut gears, which have angled teeth that mesh together clearly. This allows for quieter, more efficient operation than a jack that uses a standard Acme screw.

To ensure great performance even at night, this jack also comes with a front-facing light that houses 3 LEDs. The light is directed at a downward angle allowing for easy deployment and retraction of the jack in low-light settings. The unit also comes with a manual crank handle in case you lose power.

This jack can be bolted or welded onto your A-frame coupler, or it can sit in a brace behind the coupler. As with other Lippert jacks, it is constructed of powder coated steel to ensure that it will resist rust and corrosion and hold up well to the elements. The housing on the jack protects the internal components, and it has a durable, UV-resistant coating that resists chips, cracks, and fading.

You always want to be sure when purchasing a tongue jack that the jack capacity at least matches your trailer's tongue weight (TW). Your trailer's TW should be around 10 percent to 15 percent of your gross trailer weight (GTW), which is the weight of your trailer when it's fully loaded. So if you have a 5,000-lb trailer you would want a jack that can support at least 500 lbs to 750 lbs.

How to Determine the Lift Capacity You Need in a Jack

A trailer jack is designed to lift the tongue of your trailer so you can connect the trailer coupler to your hitch ball. To do this, you'll need a jack with a lift capacity high enough to handle your trailer's tongue weight.

Tongue weight is the amount of weight that your trailer applies to the back of your tow vehicle. Typically, your tongue weight should be 10-15% of your total trailer weight (trailer + cargo). In other words, a 10,000-lb trailer would have a tongue weight between 1,000 lbs and 1,500 lbs. For a trailer this size, you would need a jack with a lift capacity of at least 1,500 lbs.

It's okay to have a jack with a weight rating that is higher than your trailer's tongue weight. In fact, a jack with a higher lift capacity should operate more efficiently, allowing you to spend less time cranking and more time camping.

Trailer and Camper Jack Lift

Every jack offers a certain amount of lift or travel. Screw travel is the distance the jack extends when you crank it (or toggle it to "extend" on an electric model). Some jacks include a drop leg for extra adjustability. On these jacks, you'll see the maximum extension of the drop leg listed in the specs as well. Adding the screw travel and drop leg travel together will give you the total lift. The total lift listed above can help you determine how high this jack will be able to raise your trailer.

The bolt pattern matched my trailer so it was very easy. No skill needed. I soldered a connection on and hooked it directly into the battery. I had to drill a hole for my foot extension. So far so good. 23 foot travel trailer.

I wish I would have purchased it the same day I purchased the trailer. It’s super!!!

As always a big help in getting what I need, and wanted. Good tec help, fast service. Already installed.

Worked great, nice upgrade, saves a lot of work. Worth the price.

Love it! No more hand cranking. Installation was a breeze. The trailer tongue has nut plates so it was a easy swap. No extra wrench to loosen the bolts.
I just crimped on a connecter on the end of the power wire, ran the wire through the factory clamps of the camper and put it on the positive side of the battery. Done! I kind of wish it had a slow and fast speed but no biggie. I really like the LED light on the front with its own switch. It adds to the “wow” factor. Thanks again etrailer! I never shop anywhere else.

by:

Just got it installed it works great. Thanks Courtney at trailer!

by:

Jack was easy to install. We've only used the trailer once since replacing the old jack and had no trouble.

by:

As always, etrailer was informative, very polite and fast with delivery! My sales rep this time was Mike, but it doesn’t matter, all reps are on the ball and ready to help.

by:

Do not like the new design. Much slower than the old version and the buttons stick out too far and now I cannot lower my tailgate while the trailer is attached.

by:

it came earlier than stated 1 day earlier , which was great -I bought it to replace the original -they are supposed to be watertight- but the original seized up from not being covered-so, I will not install the new one till spring after winter is over- I did connect it to a battery to be sure it functioned right- I am sure it will do it's job- just learned a hard lesson about keeping it covered against the weather--they should come with a water proof cover for it--but it does not-

by:

My electric tongue jack arrived in two days, was easy to install and makes hitching an unhitching so much easier.

It’s working just like the day I install it just fine

by:

Same as what I have now, easy to install, quick delivery.

by:

First of all , My compliments to the shipping department. I was actually impressed the way that the trailer jack factory package was secured in the etrailer outer shipping box.
Since I was basically just replacing a old jack that I damaged with a new one, the installation was easy. All works great, exceeds my expectations .

I purchased a used trailer that came with a cheap "Made in China" copy of the Lippert 3500 lb electric jack which the dealer had installed. It currently retails for $70.00. It failed after 3 years (trailer only 3 years old). So I bought the "real" deal this time. I had read previous views that said the Lippert 3500 was noisy. Mine barely makes a whisper and compared with my previous jack it doesn't make any noise at all. Etrailer even matched a competitor's low price. I couldn't be happier. Installed it yesterday and it moves up and down with ease. I'd give it and Etrailer 10 stars if I could.

My Lippert 3500 lb electric jack is still working greatsmooth, quiet, and powerful. I am still very happy with it.

Excellent product. Great customer service. Plug n play. Perfect fit to replace my frozen jack. Fast shipping. Ordered Monday, received Thursday, camping Friday.

by:

Excellent and fast shipping. Fantastic company to deal qith.

by:

I have been using this electric tongue, jack and have been very satisfied with its overall performance

by:

Product looked great when I opened the box. The box on the other hand was taped closed and torn when it arrived. I like the water seal that has been added to the switches. The jack itself though leaves more to desire as it is slower than the previous model.

by:

Easy install

by:

Comparable price. Super fast shipping. Works great. Have ordered from Etrailer in the past and have never been disappointed. Thanks!!

by:

The order shipped quickly and arrived when promised (via UPS). After removing the old tongue jack, the new Lippert jack installed in less than 45 minutes. Installation was straightforward due to the clear instructions included with the product. I have been very happy with all products purchased from etrailer.

  • Troubleshooting Lippert Electric Jack That Only Works After Hitting with Hammer
It's certainly possible that a bad/weak ground is what is causing the issues on your Lippert 181794 (which is the current model # LC285318). This jack grounds through its mounting hardware so you will want to make sure that all the hardware and the trailer frame itself where it's mounted is free of any rust or corrosion. If cleaning up the ground surface doesn't resolve the issue then there's likely an internal issue with the jack, specifically with the gears. The hammer strike might be...

  • Lippert Electric A-Frame Trailer Jack Stopped Working
When an electric trailer jack of any kind stops working there are a couple of things to check. First, the jack may or may not have an in line fuse that you can check and replace as needed. Some jacks also have an internal circuit breaker which should reset by itself. But if it doesn't then there is likely something wrong with it and the jack would need to be replaced. A ground interruption can also cause the jack to stop working. If there isn't an obvious ground wire to check then the...

  • Manual Crank Handle Wont Lift/Lower Lippert Electric Trailer Jack
If the manual crank handle for the Lippert Electric Trailer Jack part # LC285318 will not extend or retract the leg then that points to signs of internal damage. The bevel gear could be stripped or the inner tube could be bent which would both prevent the leg for extending or retracting. Unfortunately, if this is the case then the jack will need replaced as they do not offer any replacement internal components for this jack. It does however come with a one year warranty but if you are...

  • Powered A-Frame Trailer Jack Cannot Retract After Being Extended
It definitely sounds like your jack may have been over extended. On a lot of powered A-frame jacks when this happens it ends up warping the nut and screw that allows the jack to travel up and down. Unfortunately there isn't a way to fix or replace this component so the jack will need to be replaced. I have attached a short video demonstration that you can also check out. I think the best value for an A-frame tongue jack is the Stromberg Carlson # SC63VR which is rated for 4500 pounds...

  • Troubleshooting Lippert Electric Jack That Will Not Extend
There are a few possible reasons as to why you can't get your Lippert Electric Jack # LC285318 (this is essentially the current version of your 181794) to extend. While possible, I doubt the leg as simply been jammed due to a lack of lubrication. You can test this pretty easily by using the emergency crank to see if you can extend the jack manually. If the leg operates fine when doing this then it likely isn't an internal gear issue. Since extending the jack takes more effort/power...

This is the only model with replacement switches available and they can only be purchased with the top cover # LC285160. The Lippert electric A-Frame trailer jack # LC285318 is lifetime lubricated and should never require maintenance according to the manufacturer. In the event something got inside and caused the jack to misbehave you would have to take the jack apart and remove the foreign object. Otherwise keep the outside clean and the electrical connections in good working order and never overload or overextend it and you will get years of service out of it.

I'm assuming that the ground you're de-coupling on is flat; if there is any incline/decline, this could be contributing to what you're dealing with but you should be able to unhook a trailer on gravel without issue-especially crushed gravel since it compacts well. You also don't need to put boards under your tires during this process; if anything, you're cancelling out the ability of the gravel to help keep the trailer from rolling. The # LC285318 would be a good choice for a trailer jack. With its 3550 lb capacity, the jack will have plenty of power for even the heaviest trailers.
