When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward while the tow vehicle slows. The actuator telescopes, applying force to its master cylinder, which in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage the trailer's brakes.

Today we're taking a look at the adjustable channel brake actuator. This hydraulic actuator is designed to synchronize your trailer brakes with your tow vehicle breaks. It features a unique roller design which reduces resistance during telescoping to create straight line movement. Basically what happens is when you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle deceleration occurs and momentum actually pushes your trailer towards the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems the actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward while the tow vehicle slows down. The actuator telescopes which applies force to a master cylinder which in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage the brakes on your trailer.We're looking at a really nice sturdy durable steel construction.
It's designed to resist bending and jackknife situations. Easy maintenance design when it comes to lubricating the internal components. You've got the grease zerks right here so you attach a grease gun, pump in the grease. It's going to keep everything functioning as it's intended to. The adjustable channel on the front has three different mounting positions for a coupler.
It does come with the included lunette ring. This is for use with pintle hitches. Also, it has the chain on here connected to the break away lever so this would connect to your tow vehicle and in the event where your trailer and tow vehicle separate your vehicle will pull on this chain. It'll pull the lever which will then engage the trailers brakes bringing it to a safe eventual stop. Break away kit is in included.We're looking at a nice zinc plating which provides rust and corrosion resistance.
It's a bolt on installation. Mounting channels down here. This is designed for disc brakes only. The mounting channel is designed to fit a three inch wide channel tongue. Vertical range of adjustment is four inches.
The lunette ring inner diameter is three inches and then this section right here measures one and five eighths inside edge to outside edge. Capacity, that's engraved right here on the top of the unit, 20,000 pound capacity with a maximum tongue weight capacity of 2000 pounds. This black piece right here, this is the cap for the fluid reservoir so you can remove that, gain access to the reservoir if and when needed. You've got your connection points for your hydraulic lines right there on the back side of the unit.Over all, nice durable design. I do want to point out that the hardware for attaching the coupler to the actual bracket, that's included. It comes with your bolts and it comes with the lock nuts there. That's going to do it for today's look at the adjustable channel brake actuator.

We were able to bend the mounting bracket back and use it.
Might consider better packaging on such a heavy item. Price was good, arrival was fast. Everything was good from your end. UPS was a little rough on it.
