Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: 8 on 6-1/2 means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: 5 on 4-1/2 means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance (D) from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

  • Why Are My Oil Bath Hubs On A Ranger Boat Trailer Running Hot
With what you have replaced, it can only be one or two things that is causing your issue. First will actually be the spindle. It may look good, but very minor imperfections can cause friction and may be what is going on. I would make sure the bearings are seating properly on the spindle and not "rocking" back and forth at all. I also highly recommend making sure the bearings are seating in the hub properly as well. If the races that the bearings sit in are a little off or if there is...

  • Availability of Spindle and Hubs for 10,000 lb Trailer Axle
As you may have noticed, the highest capacity spindle we carry is for a 7,000 lb axle, # TRU37FR. Your best bet is to source the spindles for a 10,000 lb axle through a local trailer shop or dealer. If are able to source the spindles, we do have hubs for 10,000 lb axles. I'll list them below: # 8-430-5UC3 - Dexter Hub Drum for 9K to 10K axles manufactured after July 2009 (for non ABS brakes) - uses inner bearing # 387A, outer bearing # 25580 and oil seal # 10-51 # K08-288-90 - Dexter...

  • How To Switch From Electric Drum Brakes To EOH Disc Brakes For 10k General Duty Dexter Axles
Since we don't know for sure what you axle is I do recommend first contacting Dexter and to try and confirm exactly what kind of axle you have. If you haven't really looked at them I do recommend getting under the trailer and trying to find a tag because it will make this process much easier. Assuming you have Dexter 10k general duty axles there will be two choices depending on the hub: Option 1: Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2R1058D11HD, which uses the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly...

  • How to Determine Correct Replacement Hubs for Trailer
To find correct replacement hubs for your Dexter trailer axle you will want to pull one of the existing ones so you can remove its inner and outer bearings. You need these bearing numbers to help you select a new hub that will fit on your axle's spindles. The new hubs must use the same set of bearings as the old ones. Please refer to the linked photo that shows how these numbers are typically stamped into the bearing housing. Once you know your bearing numbers all you need to do is click...

  • What Spindle Does Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2R1058D11HD Fit
The disc brake kit part # K2R1058D11HD that you referenced was designed to fit on hubs for the 99 spindle like the part # 8-288-3UC1. The 99 hub like you mentioned does have bearing diameters of 2.25 inch as well as 1.75 inch so you are correct. The description does say it's a slip-on style disc brake kit which is a bit oversimplified like you mentioned since this does require the hub coming off to fit the brake flange on.

  • Rear Axle Hubs of Tandem Axle Gooseneck Trailer Running Hotter Than Front Hubs
The difference in heat would lead one to believe that there is more friction on the rear # 8-288-3UC1 hubs that could be caused by some worn out bearings. Periodically inspecting these parts is never a bad idea and will help reduce the chances of a catastrophic malfunction. If your bearings are worn out or damaged this would generate heat that could be conducted to all connected metal parts, including your hubs and brakes. You can try pulling one of the rear hubs to check your grease level,...

  • Parts Needed to Install Disc Brakes on Gooseneck Trailer with 10k Axles
Since we know you have 10k axles that makes picking out the disc brake kit easy. For that you'd need the part # K2R1058D11E but you'd need to have idler hubs installed already like # 8-288-3UC1 as this is a kit designed to slip over idler hubs. If you the plan is to go to electric over hydraulic brakes you'll need an actuator as well. For that the HydraStar brand is the way to go. For that the part # CAR-HBA16-2 comes with everything needed to install including brake lines so you'd be set.

This is designed for 10,000-lb axles, and includes the hub, bearings, races, seal, oil cap, wheel bolts, wheel retaining ring, and lug nuts. The drum that is designed to work with this is part # 9-44-1 for the non-ABS drum. If you need the ABS drum with exciter ring you will need part # 9-44-3. • Replacement Hub and Rotor for 3,500 lb Axle of Trailstar Trailer
I am sure we can help replace all of the brake components but without a brand I can't really help pin point just the hub/rotor. Instead the best we could do is a kit that replaces the hub rotors, the mounting bracket, and the calipers. So you could use the part # K2HR35D and have a replacement for both sides of your axle and you'd be set. This has the correct capacity of 3,500 lb and bolt pattern of 5 on 4-1/2 inch.

  • Parts Needed to Convert 10k Trailer Axles from Electric Brakes to Electric Over Hydraulic
First thing you need to do is verify the axles that your trailer has. Hopefully they are a standard axle like a Dexter 10k which the # K2R1058D11 you referenced fits. This brake kit is designed to fit the trailer hub # 8-288-3UC1 which was found on 10k axles made before 2009. Then for a kit that comes with brake lines for a tandem axle trailer you'd want the # HBA16-252-82 and you'd be set. Your controller would need to be compatible with EOH brake like our P3 part # 90195 is.
