The drawbars, or front arms, on the EZ series base plate kit are supremely easy to mount and remove. Just insert them into the brackets and twist to lock them in place. To remove, simply twist the arms back and pull them out. Once the drawbars have been removed, the remaining brackets are virtually invisible. On most automobiles, the brackets are mounted within the grille, where they remain not only unseen, but protected from scrapes and scuffs as well.

After 1 year of full-time use I am very happy with the base kit. It was relatively easy to install with the aid of a car lift. I would imagine that it would be a little harder without.

Roadmaster

I was trusting the video that is on E trailer site to walk me through how to install the roadmaster tow bar. It was exactly right on and I took the front end off of my toad, and prepped everything according to the directions on the first day. when my package arrived from E trailer the next day everything was in really great shape after shipping and I installed it the next day in about four hours time.

Everything worked according to instructions and is still working fine on my Honda. I towed It all the way to Alaska and back to California with no problems, so thank you

Great people to deal with. Order rec'd sooner than expected and the Roadmaster equipment was excellent.

by:

The instructions were very good, the video was excellent. If I could make a recommendation, it was a little lacking at the end. Since the Smart car is virtually held together with push pins a little more time spent putting the car back together wourl have been helpful. I'm all done and I have 2 push pins left over and don't know where they go.

I received the base plate for my Miata at 4:30 Monday by 7:00 it was installed and ready to go.A great product fit very nicely.Ordering and follow up went great can’t wait to try it out Just need to decide on the tow bar we will use.The Falcon or Sterling .Thank you for a great product and service.

Installation is a bit involved but worth every second of it for the peace of mind while driving. Had a slight issue with my ordering incorrect parts but these guys went above and beyond to get it resolved in time to not miss my trip. Even rush manufactured them due to not being in stock!! Great company to do business with.

Great product.
Excellent fit.
Everything
has performed wonderfully.

Purchased the towing adapter for my GMC Terrain a few week ago, received it on time & boxed not damaged. Watched the videos’ about three time on how to do it myself and started one evening and finished it the next morning about three hours with Beer Breaks, LoL. All the parts fix perfectly, had no problems with any of the parts, Product is real sturdy and if you don’t know where to look at the bumper you will not see the hide away receiver brackets. Very nice product, do it yourself and save
Up loading two photos if it will let me one is with hide away brackets installed and the other one you can see is my complete tow bar attached to the hide away brackets

Roadmaster base plate for 2010 GMC Terrain. Very detailed instructions, great videos. Product was as described, no holes to drill, just replace factory parts with Roadmaster parts. Everything went together very well. I used the instructions supplied along with the video on my laptop. Hardest part was popping the bumper shroud back on due to colder temperature. I have a fair bit of experience with rebuilding classic cars so have lots tools and reasonable mechanical ability.

by:

Product is great, packaging was rough, the parts were banging into each other inside the box. Box looked like it either had been opened before or had sat in a warehouse for several years.

by:

Installed on 2014 GMC Acadia. Very sturdy and heavy duty base plate. I installed it myself. You will need a little automotive knowledge and more tools then the average do it yourself-er. It took about 6 hours, by myself. It looks more intimidating then it turned out to be. You can't see it when not in use which makes it nice for the wife, since it's her car.
Pictures show the tow bar adapter. Sorry, no pictures of adapter removed.

by:

This system worked perfectly from experience. They help from trailers e trailer agents was crucial for guiding me through the process.

by:

Prepared my vehicle for the base plate. The base plate has a manufacturing defect in that the crossbar is approximately.375 inches short. The hole pattern matched on one side but the other side would not line up with the vehicle holes. The mounting plate overlapped the mounting holes by 1/3rd. Clearly, the assembly was short. I find my disassembled vehicle sitting for a week waiting for the replacement to arrive. Hopefully, Roadmaster QC did a better job on the new base plate assembly that I am waiting for.

by:

This reasonably priced base plate kit was professionally installed on a coupe that was pulled around the New England states for two months. The kit and the car made it possible to see many sites along the route that would have been bypassed without the toad. The kit is solid and provides secure tow-ability.

by:

Parts came very quickly. The base plates are really well make and of heavy material. If you watch the video it is a breeze to install. Make sure you have some new clips for your bumper as the old ones will break, not all but some. I ordered clips from Amazon. I used a vibrating saw with cutting blade and it did nice job cutting plastic bumper cover.

by:

Service was immediate. Delivered on time. Tracking was exact. My opinion, overall outstanding.

by:

2007 MX5
The build quality was good....welds
were well done....paint was good
Instructions were pretty thorough.
Lots of trimming away of the splash shield for this install!!
Oh well...no choice I guess.

by:

It is a lot easier to take of the bumper it is all plastic anyway then to take off the air intake

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2008 Honda Fit Behind a Motor Home
I found an online copy of the 2008 Honda Fit owners manual and on page 173 it states that the vehicle can be towed behind a motor home up to 65 miles per hour. It then lists the procedures for automatic and manual transmissions in the pages after that. Confirm this with your owners manual. There are at least 5 items you will need to flat tow your Fit: base plates, tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking. The base plates provide a proper and safe attachment point on the...

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2007 Honda Fit Behind a Motor Home
To install Roadmaster base plates # 521558-1, trimming of spoiler, air dam, grille or plastic fascia may be required on some models of the 2007 Honda Fit. On the frame, at most there will be some drilling required. The 521557-1 kit that mentioned is designed to fit the Civic, not the Fit. In addition to the base plates you will also need a tow bar. The most popular tow bar option for the EZ style base plates is the Falcon 2, # RM-520. You will also need safety cables like # RM-643. You...

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2007 Honda Fit
We have base plate kits for your 2007 Honda Fit like the Roadmaster part # 521558-1 which is a confirmed fit but none that will work with a Towmatic tow bar. We have tow bars and other components that would work well though. In addition to the base plates, you will also need a compatible tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking to flat tow your vehicle. The most popular compatible tow bar is the Falcon 2, # RM-520. For safety cables you can use # RM-643. The coiled design...

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2007 Honda Fit Behind a Motor Home with an Aventa Tow Bar
In order to determine if your 2007 Honda Fit can be flat towed behind a motor home you will want to consult the vehicle owners manual. Since you have an automatic transmission you will need to use base plates # 521558-1. Blue Ox does not have a base plate kit for the automatic transmission models. You can still use your Aventa tow bar by using adapter # BX88178. If you need safety cables, use # RM-643. For a lighting solution I recommend kit # 154-792-118158. Most states now require...

  • Recommended Solution for Vehicle Mounted Tow Bar Compatible with Roadmaster EZ Base Plates
I may have a solution for you, but the Curt Tow Bar with Adjustable-Width Arms - Car Mount - 2" Ball - 5,000 lbs # C19745 cannot be stored on the vehicle and there's not an available solution that would allow it to function in the manner you're seeking. If you wanted a tow bar that is stowed on the vehicle, the Roadmaster StowMaster Tow Bar - Car Mount # RM-501 (2" hitch ball) or # RM-504 (2-5/16" hitch ball) would be the best solution. It looks like you've also got Roadmaster EZ base...

In order to use the Roadmaster plates with your Demco tow bar you will also need to use an adapter. For Roadmaster base plates you'll need part # RM-033 along with Tow Bar Quick Disconnect Kit # RM-201. We do not offer an adapter to mate Blue Ox base plates to a Demco tow bar. • What Type of Crossbar Does Roadmaster Base Plate Kit part # 521558-1 Need to be Used With
The Roadmaster base plate kit part # 521558-1 is designed to be used with a Roadmaster tow bar that has a crossbar. But you don't have to order the crossbars separately. The correct crossbar that you'd need would come with the tow bar. So you'd just need to order a tow bar that has a crossbar like the Roadmaster Falcon 2 part # RM-520 and you'd be set.

  • Recommended Supplemental Braking System For Use With Multiple Tow Vehicles
The best supplemental braking system for your situation is the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR which is a portable braking system. The Patriot sits in the floor board of the 2007 Honda Fit and depresses the brake pedal when the motor home stops. It is compatible with power assist brakes so if you decide to switch to a hybrid tow vehicle in the future the Patriot will be compatible. However, I have checked the owner's manual for the 2007 Honda Fit and it looks like Honda does not recommend flat...
