Roadmaster Base Plates - 1541-1

  • Removable Drawbars
  • Roadmaster
  • Hitch Pin Attachment

The crossbar-style hidden brackets attach to your vehicle's frame to provide attachment points for your tow bar. The visible portions of the brackets can be removed when you are not towing.

Features:

  • Hidden bracket design - drawbars are easily removable via 2 pins
    • Improved aesthetics compared with standard brackets
  • Computer-cut, all-steel construction provides exceptional strength
  • Black powder coat finish is durable and corrosion resistant
  • Simple installation - no welding required
    • Custom base plates ensure a perfect fit for your vehicle
  • Compatible with Roadmaster tow bars with use of quick-disconnect crossbar (910021-00 - sold separately)
  • Instructions and mounting hardware included
  • Made in the USA
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty

The square drawbars, or front arms, on the crossbar-style base plate kit are simple to mount and remove, easily securing with hitch pins. Once the drawbars have been removed, the remaining brackets are virtually invisible. On most automobiles, the brackets are mounted within the grille, where they remain not only unseen, but protected from scrapes and scuffs as well.

Very impressed that they're the exact fabbed fit, and easy to install! These tow base plates are super sturdy!

As always, etrailer was super quick at fillibg my order. They pulled together a "cart" for all the parts I needed to tow my Hinda CR-V behind my motorhome as I got some of the tow parts with the motorhome purchase but needed the rest of the pieces to complete the package. I'll always check out etrailer when I need stuff.

2010 Honda Element

Received this towing bracket...did not fit......but....got another within 3-4 days....good service....directions are good for a Honda Element, mine was a 2004 CRV.....if you cannot ad lib...do not try to do the install, otherwise an excellent fit and easy for the not challanged mechanically....if it says 10 mm might be 8 or here rather than there.....very happy with a quality product even if it took a second time.....everyone is allowed a screwup occasionally....and it was taken care of well....

Easy to install. Included instructions difficult to understand. Online video 100%accurate. Perfect fit.

by:

I ordered the parts from your site as a combo. When they came in, two parts didn’t fit together. When I called to ask why, I was told they weren’t compatible and I would need another type of bar. I was told that most people don’t use that style and use a quick release. I asked if could return it as wasn’t installed just opened from the box and I could see that they wouldn’t fit. My request was denied. So I wanted to order the adapter that was needed, but was told it would be two weeks. I was a week out from a 50 day cross country trip, so I found it on [online vendor] and it was there in two days.

I installed this baseplate on my 2003 Honda CRV myself. It was a challenge for an inexperienced mechanic but successful in spite of that. Following the clear instructions, the unit fit well into the CRV chassis. Installing it myself has also given me confidence in towing that I may not have had by giving that task to someone else. I wired the CRV and RV 6 way and 7 way connectors including power to charge the CRV's battery while towing. After towing the car for several thousand miles, I am very satisfied with the base plate, tow bar, and installation.

by:

hello . here are the photos you requested .I was very easy to put on and was done 2 hours . I have 1 question,, that is ..why is there not a plug to go on the end of the hitch so that dirt and debris won`t get in ?

Roadmaster does have covers that can be ed in the receiver openings to keep dirt and debris out. They do not bundle them with the base plate kits, but sell them separately. See part # RM-200-5 to fit your XL style base plates.

ALL WAS AS ADVERTISED. FIT UP WAS VERY GOOD.

ONLY PROBLEM WAS THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR BRACKET WAS BENT AND THERE WAS NO INFORMATION ON WHAT TYPE CONNECTOR THE BRACKET WAS DESIGNED. UPON CALLING ETRAILER, IT WAS DETERMINED A "6" PIN ROUND CONNECTOR SHOULD FIT.

2006 Honda Element

Super fast and free shipping! Thanks

by:

Quality made mount looks really solid, much stronger than the stock bumperette that gets removed. Had a little trouble installing at first, but just needed to tighten some bolts and loosen others till everything lined up. Once installed you barely notice the bracket when the extenders are removed. Took it for a test drive today, no problems, ready to hit the road next week.

2003 Honda CR-V

Product fit perfectly and was relatively easy to install - and at a cost that's a fraction of the product and installation at an RV store. After using for a year I'm very happy with the purchase! Also, etrailer does an excellent job of getting the product delivered quickly and in support for their products. A first-class company all the way around!

eTrailer was the only place in the country with 1541-1 base plate. Arrived as predicted in good condition. It took me most of the day to put it on because I'm a plodder. The parts fit great and provided much better protection then the old bumper (under facia) which I threw away.

2004 Honda Element

Sturdy, fit great. If you can disconnect a few points of the front end without scaring yourself away it's a great way to go.

by:

I have taken a few trips with my RV towing my car. The system I purchased from you has worked nicely!

by:
2005 Honda Element

The base plate fit perfectly. The installation took 3 hours as was indicated in the instructions. The instructions covered the task quite well. As a plus, I didn't have to trim the grill. I am quite impressed.

  • Tow Bar & Base Plates for 2004 Honda CR-V
Tow bars are not vehicle specific except in terms of weight capacity but it is generally easiest to use a tow bar and base plate from the same maker since this avoids the hassle and expense of the adapters that are needed to join parts from different manufacturers. If you do not have base plates already you'll probably want to make that selection before choosing a tow bar. We have base plates for your 2004 Honda CR-V shown on the linked page. We have models that will work with or without...

The Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit # 1541-1 that you referenced would be the correct base plate kit for your 2004 Honda Element and would work well with your Falcon 2 tow bar. You may be interested in the following products to complete your flat-towing setup: Coiled safety cables # RM-643 Roadmaster Even Brake Proportional Braking System # RM-9400, most states require supplemental braking systems. We have the Roadmaster XL style # 1541-1, the Roadmaster MX # 1541-5, or the Blue Ox # BX2232. • Is a Cross Bar Needed to Flat Tow A 2003 Honda Element with a RoadMaster Falcon 5250 Tow Bar
No, a cross bar is not required to flat tow with the RoadMaster Falcon 5250 tow bar if you have the Roadmaster MX Base Plate Kit, # 1541-5, on your 2003 Honda Element. If you have the XL Base Plate Kit, # 1541-1, on your Element then you would need to use a cross bar and quick disconnect system, # 910021-00.

  • Recommended Base Plates and System to Flat Tow a 2002 Honda CR-V

For your wiring, I recommend the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-154 along with 6 way connector # A10-6034VP to create a system similar to the # RM-15267 but utilizes the wiring in your tow bar instead of the coiled wire. According to the regular owners manual the RV cutaway models of the 2005 Ford E-450 have a 10,000 pound gross trailer weight capacity and a gross combined weight rating of 20,000 pounds (this is the most that the vehicle and trailer or towed vehicle can weigh including all cargo, fuel, passengers, etc.).

The Roadmaster XL base plates, # 1541-1, are compatible with a 2006 Honda Element (not EX-P models) and the Sterling tow bar. The EX-P models just have a different design and require their own style base plates to fit. So after base plates and the tow bar, the next item you will need is safety cables if you do not already have some (the Sterling tow bar should have come with some). I recommend using straight cables # RM-645 to fit in the channels in the tow bar. Next you will need a...
