Roadmaster Base Plate and Tow Bar Compatibility on 1998 Honda Accord
Question:
I have a 1998 Honda Accord with the Roadmaster 1541-1 base . Will this tow bar hook directly to my car

Expert Reply:
The Roadmaster XL base plate kit # 1541-1 does not fit your 1998 Accord but the similar kit # 1545-1 does fit, and with it you can use the Roadmaster StowMaster Car-Mount Tow Bar # RM-501. This tow bar also directly fits the base plates you referenced.
Safe and legal flat towing requires a number of other components in addition to the tow bar and base plates. If you like you can refer to the linked article on flat towing that covers all of these components, which include a wiring/lighting kit, safety cables, and a braking system for the towed car. Often a high/low hitch adapter is needed to keep the tow bar level (or at least within 3-inches of level up or down).
If you need any of these items I suggest the Magnetic LED Tow Lights # TLL21RK for their easy installation, RoadMaster Coiled Safety Cables # RM-643 and the Blue Ox Patriot braking system # BLU37TR. I also linked our page for high/low hitch adapters in case you need one of these.
