Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the TruRyde 10 inch by two and a quarter inch right hand Passenger Side Self-Adjusting Electric Brake Assembly for 3,500 pound axles. Now electric brakes are a lot easier to install. They offer more user control than hydraulic brakes, and they require only an electric brake controller which we do sell separate on our website. There's no need for a brake actuator or hydraulic lines. Now these are electric brakes, so if you look in the back foam, they'll have two wires here.

These need to be connected, one goes to a brake feed, the other goes to a ground. And because you can see the wires are the same color, either wire can be used for either function. Now also these are self-adjusting breaks, so these will automatically adjust to deliver optimum performance and breaking power. Basically the way you can tell it's in a self-adjusting break, If you look at this cable, that runs right here, goes around a pulley and attaches to a lever and that lever will automatically rotate the adjustment screw down here to adjust your brakes. So basically once you first install these you'll do your initial adjustment.

And then after that there's no need for any manual brake adjustments. So what's nice about that is, the proper adjustment leads to better brake efficiency, and less wear on your tow vehicle's brakes. You can see the magnet on this, this is a durable magnet, it's thoroughly tested for pull force and conductivity. The brake shoes themselves they're a nice SAE rated composite friction material that align these brake shoes, and it is a non-metallic material so it is chemically bonded to the shoes. Also what's nice is on the shoes themselves at the top and the very bottom, they do chamfered the edges to give you a lot smoother operation.

Now, when you do go to install these you'll notice there's four studs back here. This will install to a four bolt brake mounting flange on your axle, amounting nuts and the lock washer used to install these, they are not included, We do sell those separate on our website. Now the configuration on this, this one we mentioned is a right hand passenger side brake assembly. And the way you can tell that, first of all if there's a sticker in here and it'll say RH for right hand, but if that sticker was missing the best way to tell what side this is for, is you look at the size of the brake shoe, the pad. So the brake shoe goes from here to here, and this shoe goes from here to here.

So this is the smaller shoe, this is the primary shoe, and the primary shoe always faces the front of the trailer. So that's gonna tell you this goes like this, makes it a right hand passenger side assembly. Now we do also sell the left hand side assembly on our website, it's listed on this product page as a related product, it's part number TRU79FR. Now the size on this, we mentioned is a 10 inch by two and a quarter inch. And what that measurement is, the 10 inch would be the diameter. Measure 10 inch diameter, and the two and a quarter is the width of the pad on the shoe. And there's your two and a quarter inch measurement. This does use wheel size, 13 inch, 14 inch or 15 inch. We had mentioned, you can see the four studs back here, it does fit a four bolt brake mounting flange. And this is for axle that's rated up to 3,500 pounds.
