Video Transcript for Review of TruRyde D Washer For EZ Lube Spindles - 5-23

Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com, and today we're gonna take a real quick look at this D Washer for EZ Lube Spindles. Now, this is going to be used for your EZ Lube spindles with a one engine diameter thread. And let me pull out my ruler here, and just give you some measurements that you might find helpful. The overall diameter is sitting right at one and 1 11/16th inches and the inner diameter we are sitting right at an inch. And then the measuring the inner diameter again, but from this what I'm calling the more narrow diameter right there from that straight edge there. We're sitting right at, looks like about 15, 16th of inch.

And then the width, we're sitting right at an eighth of an inch. Well, that's gonna conclude our brief look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me..

During an annual inspection of the wheel bearings on a new to me fifth wheel, I found that the driver side was missing the washer on both axels. Fits exactly like the oem washer and has us ready for camping season. etrailer always has a great selection of parts at reasonable prices and great staff to keep you updated on the order process.

They worked great

EXCELLENT PRODUCT

by:

After being in storage, in a field, for more than 2 years, Water had contaminated the original hub, pitting the bearings and races and they had not been serviced since, at least 1999. I polished up the EZ lube spindles, flushed out the old grease and I was ready. Everything fit perfectly. It was aa perfect match. Used new Nuts and Washers. re-installed the Wheels and Tires, Torqued to 90-10lb. The old 6 x 4 Wells Cargo trailer is once again Ready for the coming rendezvous season.

E trailer never disappoints. Great service all the way around. Thank you!

Ordered 2 Bearing kits for Spindle #84, plus D washers and cotter pins for my heavy duty homemade trailer. Fast shipping, bearings arrived well packages in good shape.. exact fit , no issues on installation.. very quite and smooth.. time will tell on quality and how long they last, but appear to be just as good as other higher priced bearings and seals I have purchased in the past.. Will order again.

by:

I replaced all the bearings races seals and brakes on a small travel trailer. Bill P.at etrailer took my order and three days later I had everything in my hands. Great job Bill ! All the parts were exact replacements and the install went very smooth. There is video help on their website to show how to make the install easier. I have been dealing with etrailer for several years and have never had a bad experience. I was completely blown away by the pre assembled brakes . Backing plate, shoes, actuators, self adjusters and wiring all ready to bolt on. How much easier can it be? With the best prices, fast shipping and great help on line etrailer is the way to go.

Odd Washer, Etrailer has all my parts for my boat trailer, fit perfect

by:

All the products were exactly what I needed to repair my trailer. After a little glitch in the order I contacted customer service and the problem was immediately resolved. I will definitely be shopping again when/if I need parts.

by:

Just received my order of new backing plate assemblies and some misc small parts. Ordered on line late Sunday night, confirmed I had ordered the right parts Monday morning before shipment went out. Customer service by phone was superb and the gal I talked with was perfect. Shipment was on my porch Friday afternoon. I did open box and inspect shipment that arrived completely intact/good shape and all looked good at this point. Not sure when will get to the brakes on the trailer but will post again when the job is done. So far nothing but good to say about Etrailer.com. Regards, John.

by:

My trailer was purchased several years ago and when I went to check the bearings, I discovered the D washers were missing. I called etrailer and talked to Shannon S. The washers were shipped the same day and arrived several days later.
Excellent customer service, very easy to talk to and excellent shipping. It's hard to find a company like etrailer that takes care of their customers.
I definitely will be a future customer.

by:

just what I needed because I couldn't find them when replacing trailer bearings could only find the castle nut with pin and round washer and my trailer axles don't have holes for the pin. had to improvise with E clips until received these in the mail. very happy

by:

I was very pleased because I was told that there was a backorder on the hub that I ordered and was not expecting to get until December, so much to my surprise it showed up at my front door this afternoon. Thank you for the great service and Cudos to Alex for his help in making this happen. I would recommend to everyone to shop with etrailer.com for their trailer wheel parts. I was very pleased for the great service.

by:

I placed my order on a Sunday afternoon and received an email about 3 hours later from etrailer saying it had just been shipped. What great service! The package arrived 2 days later. Etrailer is now my go-to company for RV parts.

by:

I lost a wheel off my trailer on I96 entrance ramp because the manufacturer did not use these washers. Check yours and get these if needed!!!

by:

The parts (trailer brakes and supplies for initial brake install) were delivered ahead of schedule, they were all in good shape, and they have all worked great.

by:

Product is great and the website is very easy to use with all the information needed to find the correct part for any application. I did not give a completely "excellent" review because of the packaging. The bearings that I ordered were just thrown in a box loosely, which could result in damage during shipping. My order was complete and unharmed, but would like to see the product better protected in the future.

by:

Much better than originally installed.
I
ordered 4, 1 for each axle prior to doing
bearing maintenance. Glad I did, the original
Washers were thin and had to peal them off the axle with a screw driver.

by:

Never changed an axle before, but everything went fine with these parts. Seems to be holding up to my very limited use.

  • Is Washer Needed When Installing BT8 Bearing Kit on Trailer Axle
While the BT8 Bearing Kit part # BK1-100 does not come with a washer you would still need to use a washer like the part # 5-23. If you are having a hard time getting the nut to thread on with the washer installed you'd need make sure the inner bearing is all the way seated on the spindle and doesn't need to be installed further onto it. For more info on this I attached video that covers this as well.

  • Replacement Washer for an EZ Lube Trailer Spindle
EZ lube spindles generally use a tang washer to prevent the castle nut from turning. There are different sizes available depending on what is needed. For example, # 5-101 has an inner diameter of 1 inch. Washer # 5-71 has a different design and a 1-1/2 inch inner diameter. Washer # 5-59 is similar but larger with a 1-3/4 inch inner diameter. If the axles of your trailer are rated between 3.5k and 5.2k I would recommend that you use the TruRyde D Washer, part # 5-23, that you referenced. If you have axles that are rated between 6k and 8k I would recommend you use the Redline D Washer, part # 5-57. I attached a link to a video of a trailer hub being removed and reinstalled from a trailer that you might find informative.

  • Castle Nut Wont Thread All the Way on 2,000 lb EZ Lube Spindle with Tang and D Washer
Thank you for all the photos! My contact at Dexter Axle confirmed that on a 2,000 lb axle, the D-washer # 5-23 is not needed. It is only required on 3,500 lb axles and above. So, in your case it's perfectly safe to leave it off and this way allowing the castle nut # 165686 to fully thread on the spindle. When tightening the spindle nut it should be tightened to the point that you can feel resistance in the bearings, then backed off to the point where you can bend the tang properly which...
