  • Replacement Dexter Brake Assembly Recommendation for a 9k Dexter Axle
So I was able to pull up some information on your Dexter Axle and based on the 008-232-05 number you listed it looks like you have a 9k rated axle. So for Dexter 9k brake assemblies you would want the part # 23-451 for the right side and part # 23-450 for the left side. These assemblies are 12-1/4 inch by 3-3/8 inch and are self adjusting. These also use a 6 lug bolt pattern to attach to the spindle of the trailer. Check out the review video I attached as well.

  • What Size Brake Assembly Fits Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 9K to 10K Axles
The Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 9K to 10K Axles - 8 on 6-1/2 - Oil Bath - Before July 2009 # K08-288-90 uses a 12" x 3-3/8" brake assembly like the # 23-451 and # 23-450. This means that the correct brake shoe width for this hub and drum assembly is 3-3/8" wide.

  • Adding Brakes to a 3,500 lb Trailer Axle with 6 Lug Wheels
We have hub/drums for a 3,500 lb axle with a 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern with the # AKHD-655-35-EZ-K which you'd then just need the brake assemblies # AKEBRK-35R-SA and # AKEBRK-35L-SA. Then to upgrade your 4-way to a 7-way all you'd need is the part # e99011 and you'd have that taken care of as well.

  • Replacement Brake Assemblies for 2019 Big Tex Gooseneck Trailer
The Dexter Electric Brake Kit # 23-450-451 are the brakes you will need for your 2019 Big Tex 22GN with the 10,000lb Dexter axles. These are sold per axle so you will need 2 sets to replace all 4 of your brake assemblies. They are also sold individually as the Left # 23-450 and Right # 23-451.

  • Replacement Brake Assemblies for Dexter 10k Axles on Gatormade Trailer
We have what you need! Thanks for the photos. Even though the serial number is torn from the axle tag, we still identified the brakes you need with the Unique ID Number 124394998016 from your 10k Dexter axle tag. I confirmed with my tech at Dexter that you need the Dexter Electric Trailer Brake Assembly - Self-Adjusting - 12-1/4" # 23-450 (left side) and the # 23-451 (right side). These are direct replacements of brakes constructed for your 10k Dexter axles on your Gatormade trailer.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Brake Assembly that Locks Up When Spun Forward
Pull the hub off on the problem wheel. I bet your brake assembly has a mechanical problem and just needs to be replaced. For a replacement Dexter brake assembly for the right hand side of a 10k Dexter axle you would want the part # 23-451.

  • How to Determine What Brake Assembly Goes On What Side of Trailer
You referenced the Dexter Electric Trailer Brake Assembly # 23-451 so I will use it as an example. This is a right hand brake assembly, and by that I mean that is goes on the passenger side of the vehicle. The actuating arm (the bracket that the brake magnet attaches to), should go in front of the spindle in relation to the forward direction of the trailer. Another way to look at is that the arm is the front of an "arrow," and it always points towards the front of the trailer. See picture...

The photo you sent in is of the Brake Dust Shield # BP15-085 which fits both the Left-Hand # 23-450 and Right-Hand # 23-451 Dexter Axle 12-1/4" electric brake assemblies. If these are installed on your 10K axle and you're needing to make sure the axle is mounted in the correct orientation then you should be able to determine which side is which depending on where the wiring is coming from and how the brake adjuster is oriented from the back side of the brake assembly. • Electric Brake Assemblies for Brake Flanges on 1971 Horse Trailer
Electric trailer brakes should be selected based on your axle's weight capacity, which should be listed on a plate or sticker on the axle itself, and of course based on the brake flange mounting pattern. The electric brakes we offer can have 4-bolt, 5-bolt, or 7-bolt mounting patterns. Some have multiple bolt hole patterns, both 4- and 5-bolt such as the Hayes/Alko # 185100, or both 5- and 7-bolt, such as Dexter # 23-451. We do not offer brakes with a 6-bolt pattern, but that does not...

  • Need Brake Assembly For Dexter Trailer Hub And Drum - 8,000 lbs Axles - 8 on 6-1/2, # 8-218-9,
You mentioned a 12-1/2 inch drum, but Dexter only list a 12-1/4 inch X 3-3/8 inch drum. The parts that I am recommending are for the Dexter Hub and Drum, # 8-218-9, which is the 12-1/4 inch X 3-3/8 inch drum. I have the complete brake assemblies for the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum - 8,000 lbs Axles - 8 on 6-1/2, # 8-218-9. • Width of Brake Pads on 28 Foot Gooseneck Trailer With Dexter 10K Axles
To determine which brake assembly you need, measure the width of your brake linings, as shown in the photo I edited for you. If your existing brake shoes measure 4 inches wide, the # 23-438 you mentioned would be an example of a good replacement for you if your existing brake assemblies use 7 mounting bolts (some use 4) and the diameter of the assembly is 12-1/4 inches in diameter when measured from the outside of one brake shoe directly across to the outside of the other shoe as shown...

  • Electric Brake Assembly for Sundowner Horse Trailer
We offer both complete electric brake assemblies and replacement parts for them. Often it is more cost-effective to replace the entire brake assembly than to purchase the various replacement parts to repair one but we can help with either option. Brake assemblies are selected based on axle capacity. For example, if your trailer uses a 10,000-lb-rated axle then appropriate electric brake assemblies for that weight capacity are available in two sizes: 12-1/4 x 3-3/8-inch and 12-1/4 x 4-inch....

  • How to Select Correct Disc Brake Kit for Trailer
The Dexter electric drum brake # 23-451 you referenced in your question does not require an electric-over-hydraulic (EOH) actuator since it will be powered directly by a brake controller in the tow vehicle such as the Prodigy P3 # 90195. The two Dexter EOH actuators we offer are parts # K71-651 for disc brakes and # K71-650 for drum brakes and these allow such a controller to work with hydraulic disc or hydraulic drum trailer brakes. Brakes for a trailer should be selected based on the...

And they do have the correct measurements; 12-1/4 x 3-3/8. The brakes on your Wells Cargo trailer could just be in need of adjustment. To see how to manually adjust trailer brake assemblies check out the video I attached, fast-forward to the 4:35 mark of the video. If the trailer has 2 axles then you likely have de-rated 6K axles (5200 pound axles). This size would be 12x2 inches. they mount to a 5-hole mounting...

There are 2 different sets of 12-1/4 x 3-3/8 inch brake assemblies and the difference between them is the mounting patterns they have. Electric brakes # 23-450 and # 23-451 will bolt to either a 5-hole or 7-hole mounting flange and they are for 9K to 10K axles which is what the hub # 9-44-1 is for.
