Hey, everyone. Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2014 Ford F-53 Motor Home, we're gonna be showing you how to install the Sumo Springs Suspension Enhancement for the rear axle. Before we do that though, let's take a minute, check these out and make sure they're gonna work for you. This is what the sumo springs can look like installed on your coach and you know, we just have our wheels off, so we can have a much better look at what's going on and really show you guys how these work. SumoSprings Maxim Rear Helper Springs Installation - 2019 Ford F-53- Video
Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look and installing the SumoSprings Maxim Rear Helper Springs on a 2019 Ford F53 chassis. And this is what your SumoSpring is gonna look like when it's installed on your chassis. And it does have to be drilled into the frame for your top mounting plate. But the bottom bracket, just simply bolts around your leaf springs and this is gonna create a cushion between the frame of the vehicle and the leaf springs and just help absorb a lot of the shock that your factory suspension just doesn't handle very well. The big thing with RVs like this, as you drive them side to side, you're gonna notice a lot of sway, and on the freeway, you may get wind kind of blowing you back and forth and this is gonna help stabilize that because it creates a larger, it fills this gap essentially, whereas your factory jounce, it's pretty small, and it takes a lot for it to finely compress enough for it to bottom out before you feel anything. And that's the difference is the SumoSpring is gonna fill that void and be comfortable throughout. more

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look and installing the Sumo Rear Helper Springs. These are gonna be the Maxim ones on a 2013 Ford F53 chassis. Now adding these to your RV is really just gonna give you a much better ride overall. And having better handling, especially with something that's maintenance free is really great because every time you drive your RV you're gonna notice the difference and the factory ride it feels top heavy on the suspension you know it doesn't really work a whole lot. And this is really just gonna supplement all that weight of our RV by going in between our leaf springs and mounting up to the frame. So this is gonna add extra cushion and these are made to absorb quite a bit. more

Hi there Ford owners, today in your 2020 Ford F-53 chassis motor home. We're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install SumoSprings for the front axle. And this is what our SumoSprings look like when they're installed. We do currently have our vehicle lifted with the leveling jacks. So you can see that it's a two piece system here, and that's really nice 'cause that means we have unlimited suspension travel here in the front. So if we're driving down the road, and we hit a pretty big pothole, the wheel over here on this side can easily dip down into that pothole and it can separate from this top layer. more

Before we do that, why don't we check them out and make sure that there's something that's gonna work for you. So this is what the SumoSprings are gonna look like once they're installed on your motorhome and very simple concept, but extremely effective. How they're gonna work is the bottom half is gonna get connected to your leaf spring pack, which is part of your factory suspension. The other part or the top of the SumoSpring is gonna be attached to a bracket, which gets secured to your frame. more

Timbren Front and Rear Suspension Enhancement Systems Installation - 2011 Ford F-53- Video
Hi there motor home owners. Today on your 2011 Ford F53 chassis, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install Timbren's Suspension Enhancement System for the rear axle. Here you can see our two jounce bumpers side by side. Our factory jounce bumper here is significantly smaller than our Timbren, and that's due to this is really just to be there for support when our suspension is fully bottomed out, otherwise this doesn't do anything, it never actually provides any support under most of your normal travel.With our Timbren being much longer it's going to contact the axle much sooner than our factory jounce bumper would, so it can provide support throughout our suspension travel. Because you load it up heavier and you hit those larger bumps, go over those speed bumps and things, our Timbren is going to contact and provide you with that support to help smooth out your ride, and help support extremely heavy loads to take some of that stress off of your suspension.These are direct replacement for your factory jounce bumper. They're going to mount in the exact same location, so you just simply have to remove your old one here and install your new one. more

Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Air Helper Springs Installation - 2011 Ford F-53- Video
Dave: Hi there, motor home owners. Today on your 2011 Ford F-53 Chassis, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install Air Lift's LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs for the front axle. And this is what our airbags look like when they're installed. They replace our factory jounce bumper and they will go in a similar location between our front axle and our frame. There are a little bit slightly further forward, but they're going to perform similar functions, except we're going to get those benefits throughout our suspension travel. Whereas our jounce bumper from the factory really only applies once our suspension has bottomed out to give us that support right at that last little bit of travel.Once you hit the jounce bumper on your factory suspension, you've basically exhausted the travel of your suspension, and it gets really stiff at that point once you're down on that jounce bumper. more

Rob: Everybody, this is Rob at etrailer.com and today we are in a 2017 Ford F53 Chassis motorhome that we're going to be putting some SumoSpring helper springs on.Now here at etrailer, we get a lot of questions about suspension, especially on motorhomes. Because let's face it, they're really top heavy, they're tall and there's a lot of area for when to catch. They don't typically drive the best and we end up getting tossed around, pushed around on the highway, we're fighting the steering wheel, fighting ruts, and overall just not an enjoyable experience most of the time.Helper springs are going to do a lot of different things to help those and alleviate those problems. It's going to help a lot with the sway and the body roll feeling because it is going to stiffen up the suspension. And it's also going to help absorb a lot of bumps and the jarring feeling we get resonating through the seats. But before we go over some of the features and really see those, we need to get a baseline of how our motorhome drives. more

Hi there, F53 owners. Today, in our 2014 Ford F53 chassis we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install SumoSprings' rear helper springs. This is what our spring looks like when it's installed. I've got the wheel out of the way because when the wheel's installed, you really won't be able to see in here at it at all even if you get underneath. Our spring is going to be placed between a bracket installed on the frame and a bracket installed on top of our leaf spring. So whenever our suspension wants to flex, the spring is going to compress, assisting our leaf spring and minimizing the amount of oscillations we have. more

Today on your 2015 motor home with an F-53 chassis, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs for the front axle and this is what your new SumoSprings are going to look like when it's installed. These springs are a two piece design. You have a permanently attached upper half and a permanently attached bottom half. What's nice about it being a two piece design is you have infinite suspension travel. Your factory jounce bumper does have infinite suspension travel as well, but you can see here it's much smaller and you only have a top piece. more

Today on our 2017 Ford F53 Chassis Motorhome, we're gonna be taking a look at, and showing you how to install, the SumoSprings Maxim Custom Helper Springs for the rear axle.Having a motorhome can be a great thing. We can take trips with our family and see a lot of places that we could never see before. But one thing that a lot of people don't talk about and don't think about is the suspension and how their motorhome is going to drive.Here at etrailer.com, we see a lot of the issues of customers coming in complaining that their motorhome feels like it's rolling, it's got a lot of body roll, and just not all that stable going down the road. And we can see in our motorhome, there's quite a bit of space for wind to catch the side. We're basically driving a giant windscreen going down the highway. So we're fighting that wind, pushing the steering wheel back and forth, which eventually can get very tiring and not very much fun once we get to our location.So we're gonna take our motorhome out on our test course and see how it handles before we put our suspension upgrades on.As I'm driving through our bump course here, I can definitely feel each time I hit a bump, whether it's a solid bump and the front end's coming up and coming back down and bouncing really hard, or if it's alternating bumps to where we're getting a lot of body roll back and forth. more

Today on our 2017 Ford F53 Chassis Motor Home, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs for the front axle. Having a motor home can be a great thing. We can take trips with our family and see a lot of places that we could never see before, but one thing that a lot of people don't talk about it and don't think about, is the suspension and how their motor home is going to drive.Here at etrailer.com we see a lot of the issues of customers coming in complaining that their motor home feels like it's rolling, it's got a lot of body roll and just not all that stable going down the road. And we can see on our motor home, there's quite a bit of space for wind to catch the side. We're basically driving a giant wind screen going down the highway. So we're fighting that wind, pushing the steering wheel back and forth, which eventually can get very tiring and not very much fun once we get to our location.So we're going to take our motor home out on our test course and see how it handles before we put our suspension upgrades on. more

Timbren Front and Rear Suspension Enhancement Systems Installation - 2018 Ford F-53- Video
Today on our 2018 Ford F-53 chassis motor home we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System. That's going to be part number TFRF53A. Now a lot of different things can affect how our motor homes drive, whether it be a big gust of wind pushing on the side or if it's uneven terrain. Or perhaps we're flat towing a vehicle behind it. All of those things can put a lot of stress and pressure on our rear suspension, especially because of how tall our motor homes our. Especially in the back, since most bathrooms and bedrooms are going to be at the back of the motor home having all that extra weight.Our Timbrens are going to provide us the support we need for all those different things. more

Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs Installation - 2007 Ford F-53- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2007 motor home, with a Ford F-53 chassis, we're gonna be installing Air Lift's LoadLifter 5000 air helper springs, part number, AL57140.This is what our airbags are gonna look like when they're installed. They get one for both the driver side and passenger side. So in a mount between the frame of your vehicle and your front suspension gear on your front axle. Here you can see our suspension with no air helper springs going over various terrains.And now you can see our suspension with our airbags installed and now you'll notice that it's much more stable. There's not as much oscillation between our suspension and our frame and overall, it's just a smoother ride. SumoSprings Maxim Rear Helper Springs Installation - 2012 Ford F-53- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2012 Ford F-53 Chassis, we're installing SumoSprings Maxim Custom Helper Springs for the rear axle, part number SSR-180-54-1. This is what our springs are going to look like when they're installed. They're going to provide constant point of contact between your leaf spring and the side of your frame, so you'll have benefits for your SumoSprings throughout the entire suspension travel from fully extended to fully retracted. These springs can compress up to 80%, can provide varying amounts of load leveling carrying capacity. You'll have one on each side, so if you have an uneven load, you'll have one spring applying more pressure than the other to help balance that out. Additionally, it will help increase the smoothness of your ride, because you're going to have a proportional amount of spring tension the more it's compressed.It'll also help reduce sway, so if you're hitting any uneven pavement, these will help absorb some of that road shock and minimize the amount of sway you'd have and when wind is hitting up against the side of your motor home, these will also help working in conjunction with one another to help minimize that sway. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2012 F-53 chassis we're going to be installing SumoSprings Rebel custom helper springs for the front axle, part number SSF-170-40-2. We've currently got our suspension completely suspended so you can see what our springs I'll look like. When you go over large bumps, they will be able to separate and they'll come right back together. The alignment pin here in the center will line right back up with the one above it.These jounce bumpers are going to provide additional cushion in the front of the your vehicle, giving you a smoother ride. They're additionally going to act as load leveling, so if you have a slightly uneven weight inside your vehicle, the SumoSprings will help work with one another to level your vehicle back out and maintain a more stable ride. Additionally, when you hit any potholes, it's going to absorb some of that impact so it'll help reduce driver fatigue when going down the road. more

Speaker 1: Today on 2018 Ford F53 chassis, we're going to be installing SumoSprings maximum comfort helper springs for the rear axle. Part #SSR-187-40-1.This is what our spring's going to look like when it's installed. It's going to mount between the upper bracket connected to the frame and the lower bracket connected to our leaf spring.So, when going over potholes or uneven terrain, it's going to absorb some of that shock, so it won't transfer into the body giving you an overall smoother ride.Additionally, when you load down your vehicle, this is going to help provide some cushion and help keep your vehicle at it's factory ride height, when loaded down.This is going to help keep your suspension at the correct geometry, since it's closer to the factory ride height. So, even while loaded down, you're not going to get as bad of tire wear as you we're before. Helping increase the life of your tires and your suspension components.Before we install our SumoSprings, we'll take our motor home out on our test course and we'll see how it drives now.I can already tell when turning even slightly, the motor home wants to rock to the right. As we go over the bumps, it really starts to sway back and forth. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Ford F-53 chassis, we're going to be installing SumoSprings Rebel custom helper springs for the front axle, part number SSF-170-40-2. Once you lower your vehicle back down and load up the suspension, the two will come together and this nipple will go inside of this cavity here, and they'll collapse together. This'll provide an extra layer of cushion between your suspension and your frame, and that'll help take some of the load off of your suspension parts, increasing the lifespan of your suspension components.This additional dampening force here in the front will help give you a smoother ride by absorbing some of the impacts from the road, from potholes and other uneven terrain. What this means for you is that it's going to help lower driver fatigue because you're not going to have so much shock transfer up into the steering wheel. Additionally, when you have your vehicle loaded down, this is also going to help maintain factory ride height. It's going to provide some additional force between the frame and the suspension, keep it from sagging too low. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 Ford F53 chassis motor home we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the SumoSprings Maxim Custom Helper Springs for the rear axle. Part number SSR-187-54-1. And these are going to provide up to 5400 pounds of support giving us a lot better of a ride, cushioning all the bumps and uneven roads.The springs themselves are going to work independently from each other, which will help with those off center loads or for going down a lot of uneven terrain. Now our spring, you're going to be able to compress up to 80% giving us that support, but in the time when we're not loaded they can expand up to 50%. So they're gonna give us that comfort and support whether we're loaded or unloaded. But the nice thing about the design of the spring is when they do compress it has very minimal expansion going outwards. more

Speaker 1: Today in our 2011 Ford F53 Chassis we're gonna be installing SuperSprings SumoSpring Rebel Custom Helper Springs for the front axle, part number SSF-173-40-2. These SumoSprings are gonna increase ride quality by making it softer when going over bumps. They're also gonna help reduce sway on uneven pavement by leveling out that load, and also keeping it more level under a heavier load. It'll help distribute that weight evenly between one side and the other. As the spring compresses, it'll dynamically push back, helping push that weight onto the other side.What this means to you is it's gonna help reduce driver fatigue, because when you're going down the road hitting those bumps, it's not gonna cause that steering to go veering in one direction as hard as it used to. It's gonna help make it easier for you to keep it going in a straight line. more

These sumo springs are going to increase ride comfort, decrease sway, and just make it an overall easier effort driving your big RV. As you load up your RV with various gear and people, the springs will help keep it level and distribute the weight evenly across the RV.This is nice when you're going down the road, because any cross winds that would cause your vehicle to sway get absorbed into these, making it much less than it used to be. Here's what our SumoSprings look like installed. These SumoSprings will do multiple things for us. Not only will they help reduce body roll when we're going around corners or when a semi truck or other large vehicle passes us on the highway, we will also have more stability when going over bumps. Additionally, these will also help us when we have our RV loaded down with camping equipment, gear, or other accessories inside of it. When more weight is added to the RV, the SumoSprings are a progressive setup. They will actually get stiffer so your vehicle shock absorbers can do their job more efficiently. more
