Hi there, Ford owners paying your 2021 Ford F450. We're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Reese's OEM prep package to above-bed fifth wheel plate adapter. So getting an adapter like this, that will go into your factory puck, gets really great if you have an existing fifth wheel at home that you wanna be able to reuse, or if you just prefer that standard style and it does kind of offer a little bit more versatility 'cause if you've got this adapter, you can always go from one to the other. So if you wanna make changes in the future, you could always make those changes, and you can hook up to just about any type of fifth wheel with this. And, just like with a regular fifth wheel, this part here is gonna be removable. So it's nice if you wanted to have full truck bed access again, put it back to factory, you can just pull the pins located on each side. more

So here's what our fifth wheel hitch is going to look like when we have it installed in the truck bed. It's going to be specific to models that have the OEM fifth wheel prep package, which is going to be the four outlier pucks and then the center gooseneck hitch ball opening.This particular hitch here is going to fit directly into those pucks without any additional adapters needed. So this is a sturdy hitch for you to use with your 5th wheel trailer and this utilizes the puck system or the OEM rail system in your Ford trucks. It works for the 2011, through the current model year of your Ford F250, 350 and 450 for the long bed. If you do have a short bed truck, it's better to use a slider or something else that's going to accommodate for that close quarters or the close clearances for the short bed trucks. This is really more intended for the long beds.The nice thing about it is that we are going to be able to use that OEM Factory Prep Package System. This is a very heavy duty 5th wheel trailer hitch that's going to now in your truck bed and allow you to pull your 5th wheel trailer. This is going to fit your 2020 and newer GMC Sierra 2500 heavy duty and 3500 heavy duty, as well as your Chevrolet Silverado 2500 heavy duty and 3500 heavy duty. All of those with the eight foot bed and the factory installed towing prep package.With that factory prep package, you are going to be able to just drop this into place with that puck system. You can see we've got our feet on the bottom here, so when we have these handles pulled out to the side, that's going to allow us to just lower it down into that puck system, and then turn the handle there to lock it in place. And then we'll just reinstall this pin to make sure those handles don't swing out. more

Now more and more now than ever trucks seem to be getting beds that are smaller and smaller than eight feet, six and 3/4, six and 1/2. That's typically about a standard-sized bed. Now, if you ever towed a 5th wheel, you know that once you start towing with anything less than eight feet, you start to run into issues when you're making slow speed turns, especially where the front of the trailer can get extremely close to the cab, if not make contact. more

Reese Universal Base Rails Review- Video
Ryan: Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer.com. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Reese Universal Base Rails for fifth wheel trailer hitches. Now just to give you guys an idea on how the rails actually look and work I went ahead and dropped in our fifth wheel. Now the great thing about these rails is that they're going to work with many different types of fifth wheels as you can see here.Now with the fifth wheel out of the way we can take a better look at the rails themselves. Now the rails are going to have three openings here on each side, and that's going to work with most common fifth wheel hitches because that's where those hitches actually drop into place.Now these are made out of steel and they're really heavy duty and should last a long time. Now I do understand some accidents can happen, and say your rails get worn out, it's not a huge deal because you can actually pick these rails up separately and not have to worry about getting the whole kit, and same thing with the frame brackets made out of steel, really thick and well-made. more
