Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit Installation - 2019 Ford Explorer- Video

Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit Installation - 2019 Ford Explorer

Shane: Hi, everyone. Shane here with etrailer.com. Today I have a 2019 Ford Explorer and I want to walk through how to install the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line. What the charge line is designed to do is while your vehicle's being flat-towed, it allows your RV to trickle charge your battery. The reason you would want this is because the breaking system that is required in any vehicle being flat-towed is going to draw power from the battery. So adding the battery charge line, again allows your motor home to charge the battery while the braking system is pulling power from it.First thing we need to do, if you don't have your fascia removed, it's going to make it easier if you install this while your fascia is off, like when you're installing any other components for your flat tow set up. more

Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit Installation - 2015 Ford Explorer- Video

Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit Installation - 2015 Ford Explorer

Ryan: Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer.Today on our 2015 Ford Explorer, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles. So, the reason for a charge line kit is really simple. Whenever you're flat towing down the road, and every time your braking system operates, it's going to use the Explorer's battery power. So if you tow for a long period of time, the battery can potentially wear down and be dead once you arrive at your destination. That's not going to happen with the charge line kit, because that's going to, essentially, more or less trickle charge that battery and keep it charged up. That way, the braking system don't drain it.So, although a really simple component, in my opinion, it's a really important one because the last thing you want to do after a long trip is disconnect your Explorer and come to find out that the battery is dead. Then you got to go through the trouble of finding some jumper cables, potentially bothering somebody else to give you a hand, find a jump box. more

And now with the fifth wheel out of the way, we can take a better look at the rails themselves. Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit Installation - 2018 Ford Focus

Ryan.: How's it going, Ryan here at etrailer.com. So now on our 2018 Ford Focus, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Road master battery Charge Line Kit.So this is what the Charge Line Kit is going to look like. Now the reason a Charge Line Kit is beneficial to you is because whenever you're flat towing your vehicle, the braking system is actually going to be hooked up to your vehicle's battery and that's where it's going to get its power from. So over time as you're driving down the road for hours, this battery is going to be constantly getting drained and not charged back up.Well with the Charge Line Kit, it's going to use the power that is generated by your motor homes charging system, to run it back and more or less trickle charge your battery. That way whenever you get to your campsite and disconnect, you're not going to have to worry about your battery in your car being dead, potentially have to go around and ask for a jump to get it going. And it's going to eliminate the need every so often to have to stop on your road trip, get out, start your car up, make sure everything's good, but this is just something you're not going to have to worry about. And one of the main questions we get from our customers is if it's going to affect their motor homes battery, the answer is no. more

Part number C16020.This is what our fifth wheel slider looks like when it's installed. What are some of the reasons why you would want a slider One reason is a lot of the trucks nowadays are short bed. I've seen it plenty of times where people will be pulling a fifth wheel but they don't have a slider in a short bed truck and they go to turn a corner and the sided of their cab is damaged or dented because that fifth wheel is close that when they turn it hits it, smashes it in.The slider is going to allow you to move your trailer back so it doesn't hit your cab when you're turning sharp corners. What makes this kit nice is you utilize the factory prep package and it slides right into the pucks. more

However, we went out and bought a new truck and our new truck is equipped with an under bed kit. Rather than going out and spending that extra money on a new hitch to mount in our factory under bed kit, we can pick up this rail kit, mount it directly to that under bed kit and that gives us an above bed rail kit that's going to allow us to utilize our old fifth wheel hitch. This above bed rail kit will handle 15, 16, and even 20 thousand pound weight capacity fifth wheel hitches. Each wheel is going to have two slots on the end to help accommodate different sized fifth wheel hitches.Your handles are going to lock into place to keep your rails from disconnecting from your bed. more

Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect Installation - 2014 Ford Focus

Speaker 1: Today on our 2014 Ford Focus, we're going to be installing the Roadmaster's automatic battery disconnect, part number RM-766. This battery disconnect kit is going to decrease the time it takes you to get your vehicle into the flat tow position and also minimize the need to get under the hood, pull out your tools, and all that extra work. Normally to tow your Focus, you would need to place it in the tow position and then disconnect the negative battery cable, but with our battery disconnect kit here, this solenoid has a switch that runs to the inside, so we can just place it in that tow position, hit the button, and it will automatically disconnect our battery from the vehicle. This eliminates the need for us to get under here and have to take off the cable manually, which we may require tools that you may or may not have, and it's also just more time consuming so you don't even need to open the hood.We now have our vehicle set into the tow mode position, but as you can see we're still getting some beeping noises, and we still have some computer and other systems activated. This will cause your battery to drain and may also cause some of your computer systems to activate while driving down the road. We can now hit the button that we've positioned right here. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Ford F350 Super Duty, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Curt fifth wheel round tube slider for Ford Super Duty tow and prep package, part number C16020.More and more nowadays we're seeing trucks that have shorter than eight foot beds on them. Which comes at a problem when we go to tow with a fifth wheel, because we want our hitch to be on the forward side of our rear axle. But that ends up putting our trailer extremely close to our cab. That's why our slider's going to help out. When it comes time to make those tight turns, we can come to this vertical handle here on the side. We'll pull it out, rotate it back, and that'll allow the hitch to slide back a full 12 inches, giving us that clearance to go around the turn. It'll lock into position so we can make that turn without fear of hitting our truck. more
