So a Automatic Battery Disconnect Switch on the Suburban isn't something that you're going to absolutely need, but it definitely makes life a lot easier. The manufacturer wants you to disconnect the battery whenever you're flat towing it. And so you got a couple of different ways you can do that. You know, the good old school way, every single time you're ready to flat tow, disconnect your battery manually. more

Today on your 2019 Chevrolet Equinox, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install Roadmaster's second vehicle kit for the InvisiBrake supplemental braking system. The second vehicle kit from Roadmaster will allow you to take an existing InvisiBrake system that you've got on one vehicle and move it over to another vehicle. This is great if you've got a vehicle, maybe that's got a little more miles on it that you're wanting to have on it and you upgrade to a newer, nicer vehicle, but you still want to flat tow with that vehicle. You will have to reuse your operating unit and the actuating cylinder, but the kit will come with all the wiring that we need to get this mounted up. So we don't have to save all those wires and try to feed that out of the old car. more

Today on our 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, we're gonna be taking a look at the Demco Hijacker autosliding 5th Wheel System for your OEM puck system. This system's gonna be for you if you have the OEM puck system and you have a short bed. Basically what happens is with these short beds, as you start turning, a lot of the ones, you're gonna have to manually release so you can slide it back so you're not gonna have any damage happening to the cab of your truck. With this one, as it starts to rotate, it's gonna slide back automatically to prevent any contact from happening. We're gonna get about 14 inches of slide with our 5th wheel head and it is gonna rotate up to 90 degrees with our trailer. more

Here, it's elegantly mounted inside your dash. It's got all of your adjustments for your brake sensitivity. Today on our 2007 Chevrolet Silverado we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the red arc tow pro elite proportional trailer brake controller for one to three axles, now to help us in our installation, We're going to be using the universal mounting panel for our red arc tow pro brake controller, remote head. And that's going to be part number 331-TPSI-001 So here's where our tow pro elite brake controller looks like once we have it installed it's going to be an extremely compact unit. And all we're going to see is the knob with the led light right here. This is going to be a great solution to the traditional style brake controller which typically do take up a decent amount of space and they do get kind of cumbersome where they may interfere with your legs while you're driving. Now, you'll notice that we have a blue led indicator light that's on right by our knob. And that's going to let us know that our trailer is connected but when we don't have a trailer connected there's not going to be a light on at all. more

Connor: Hey, everyone, Connor here today at etrailer.com. We're going to be taking a look at the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect, here, for our 2020 Chevy Spark. The automatic battery disconnect here is going to be an excellent option here for our Chevy Spark. And the reason for this, mainly the main reason here is that our owner's manual does allow for this vehicle to be flat-towed if it has a manual transmission. However, in order to do this, we do need to disconnect the battery. There's usually a couple of reasons behind this, such as battery drain while our vehicle is in-tow, as well as sometimes disabling some of the components on the vehicle so it can be flat-towed without damage.The automatic battery disconnect isn't a requirement, although it is required that we disconnect our battery here. more

So this universal installation kit here is going to be an excellent option for our van. If you're like most vehicles there aren't going to be any trailer wiring provisions or provisions for a seven-way, which is why this is going to be an excellent option. It's going to take an existing four way we have and it's going to turn it into both a seven and four-way trailer connector. Rob: Hey everybody. It's Rob here at etrailer.com and today we're going to be taking a look at the Roadmaster Charge Line Kit for towed vehicles on our 2020 Chevrolet Equinox. Now, whether you've flat towed a vehicle before or maybe you're just new to it, once you start doing it for a while, one thing you might realize is that once you get where you're going, your vehicle's battery may be dead. Especially if you have a supplemental braking system in. Because that supplemental braking system uses your Equinox's battery to run that braking system and to slow and stop the Equinox down. So if you're towing it for a really long time and you don't make any stops, you don't start your Equinox, that battery can drain down and it's just a hassle because then we've got to get jumper cables out, find somebody to start our car for us and it just puts a damper on our trip.But the nice thing is, is our charge line is going to make sure that the battery on our Equinox gets a trickle charge any time that we're hooked up to our motor home because our charge line is actually going to run through and be hooked into our tow bar wiring. more

So the battery disconnect is going to be one of the needed components to flat tow our vehicle here. Keep in mind, it's not required for every vehicle, but it is here for our Chevy Silverado 1500, which is why we have it installed. So according to our owner's manual, when our vehicle is in tow behind a motor home, the battery needs to be disconnected so we don't have to worry about any electrical draw from our other components, which would then in turn kill the battery, and then we'd have to jump it when we arrive to our destination.So how this works is we insert our key into the ignition here. Rob: Hey, everybody. Rob here at etrailer.com and today we're going to be taking a look at the Reese underbed rail and installation kit on our 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. Now our Reese underbed rail kit is going to allow us to mount up a fifth wheel but also have a fully open bed when we're not towing. Most this wheels are going to require to have rails inside the bed, which they don't stick up that high, but they are going to stick up about an inch or two, which means we really don't have a flat surface in our bed anymore. But as you can see, there's no rails on top of our bed because they're all underneath and our fifth wheel is just going to slide right into these puck systems and then the plugs here are going to make sure that whenever we are hauling something in the bed, maybe we picked up a load of mulch, we got some rock back here, it's going to make sure that it doesn't fall inside the pucks and get all dirty and then the ring on the outside just really gives it that finished look.It almost has a factory look to it if you we're to see a truck that has the prep package in it. This is probably the closest thing you can get as an aftermarket option to have that puck system in your bed. more

Roadmaster Flexo-Coil Kit Installation - 2019 Chevrolet Equinox- Video
Rob: Hey everybody. Rob here at etrailer.com, and today we're going to be taking a look at the Roadmaster Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit on our 2019 Chevrolet Equinox. Now, whenever you're going to flat-tow your Equinox behind your motorhome, you need a way to get those light signals to the back. Now, a lot of diode kits aren't going to come with an umbilical cord or the socket, that's where our Flexo Kit is going to help us out because we're going to be able to transfer the signals from our motorhome through the cord into the six-way plug on our vehicle that's tied into our tow bar wiring, that way, when we're driving down the road, if we need to change lanes, the motorhome signals are going to mirror what's on our Equinox so that everybody around us knows what's going on and we can be safe traveling down the road.I really like this style cord because it is coiled, so whenever we have it hooked up all the way, we'll still have enough slack for it to stretch when we go around turns, but at the same time, you can see it's going to retract back and it's going to keep all that slack from dragging the ground. On one end of the cord, we're going to have our seven-way connector, this is going to be pretty standard for most RVs and it's still going to have that little latch on there to make sure that it catches the door so it won't get ripped out for any reason.On the other end, we're going to have a six-way connector, and just so you know there is two different industry standards of how the cord is wired up, and our Roadmaster cord, the center pin, is for your power. They're also going to give us a six-way plug. more

Deka Battery Side Bolt Extender Installation - 2015 Chevrolet Express Van- Video
Hi there Express fan owners, today in our 2015 Chevrolet Express, we're going to be showing you how to properly add powered accessories to your side post battery using Deka's side posts battery extender. T.he problem we have with our factory bolts is that there's no room to add any ring terminals or additional wiring to it.If you try to, you can potentially damage the threads on your battery.If we go over here to our positive post, we've already got our extender in place, and you can see here, we've got plenty of room to add wires to power, any of our accessories.And we have no fear of damaging our battery.The post is made of brass. So it's going to be an excellent conductor.The bolt length itself is one and three-quarter inches, and this is important if your batteries in a tray, that's got a pretty tight fit. You don't want your battery positive, sticking out to work in ground on anything on the body.Let's go ahead and install it now, and we'll show you how to do that.We'll begin by removing our battery positive post.If you are worried that you may touch your wrench on anything grounded, you can take your negative terminal off first as this is recommended to keep you from accidentally shorting anything out.Once you've got it loose, we can just take it off here, and that will pull it back.Our bolt we'll then remove from the rubber covering, maybe helpful to use a pick or a flat-bladed screwdriver to assist you in getting out of there.Regardless of which vehicle you have, all your side posts are basically the same. They all use a very similar sized bolt and similarly shaped a rubber housing that keeps the bolt in place.And on your express van here, your side post, isn't going to be different than anything else.Your battery post is going to be inside of your rubber housing here, we'll just need to pop that out of there.So you can use a pick or a flat blade screwdriver to work your way behind the covering, and pop the bolt out.We'll now take our new one from Deka, slide it all the way in, and then we can reinstall it onto our battery.When tightening it down you want to make sure you don't over-tighten it as the lead material inside is a softer metal, so it is possible to over-tighten it.We'll tighten it down using a five, eight inch wrench or socket.The stud coming off of our post is one and three quarter inch length, which gives you plenty of length to add accessories and be able to fully tighten the nut on it.And the diameter of our stud is three eighth of an inch.So you want to make sure you purchase appropriately sized ring terminals to get all of your accessories mounted.If you need some ring terminals. Today you're going to be taking a look at, I'm going to walk you through the installation on the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller on your 2019 Chevrolet Equinox with the Factory Tow Package.Most of the time when we think about a brake controller, it's on a larger vehicle, or on a big truck that may be pulling big trailers. On a smaller SUV like this, maybe you have a boat trailer that has brakes on it, or maybe you have a camper, a small camper that has brakes on it. Maybe you're going on a camping trip and you want to make more room for your passengers inside, so you want to put all your gear into a trailer and that trailer has brakes on it.You've pulled each of these things and without a brake controller you have felt the trailer as you're coming up to a stop pushing on the car. It's an uncomfortable feeling when you're coming up to the back of another car that's already stopped and it doesn't feel like your car is stopping. Adding a brake controller to the vehicle is not only going to make your driving experience much better, but it's going to make your passengers much more comfortable during the ride.The trailer brake controller is going to be a proportional brake controller, so when you apply the brakes in the vehicle it's going to apply the same amount of pressure in the trailer depending on how you have it set, whether that applies the brakes a little bit sooner or a little bit later. more

Today on our 2019 Chevrolet Sonic, we're going to be taking a look at the Roadmaster second vehicle kit for the InvisiBrake braking system.If you flat towed before you know that all the components you're going to need. One of those components is going to be a braking system so we're not relying on the motor home to slow down our vehicle as well. That way we have a nice even braking and it's not going to be tearing up the motor home or our car.Our second vehicle kit is going to allow us to use our existing InvisiBrake in a new car. That way we don't have to purchase the entire braking system again. However, the second vehicle kit is going to come with most of the components, but there are a few things we need from our previous InvisiBrake.Now one of the components that you will need from your previous InvisiBrake installation is going to be the operating unit itself.Another component we're going to need to bring from our old kit is going to be the cable and this assembly here that mounts to the bracket. more

Hi there Volt owners. Today in our 2012 Chevrolet Volt, we're going to be installing Curt's 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness. This will provide you with all the lighting functions that you need for any accessory that you have on the back of your vehicle. So when you got your cargo carrier on there, loaded up with gear that may be blocking your tail lights, the lights on your cargo carrier can be illuminated, which includes your left-turn signal, right-turn signal, tail lamps and brake lamps, keeping your DOT compliant in all states. Now you do want to keep in mind that this harness is really for accessories on this vehicle, because it's not recommended to tow with your Chevy Volt.Located on the end of our connector, you'll find a dust cap that can be inserted on it to keep out any dirt, debris and moisture to ensure a long lasting connection. Curt Welded Weight Distribution Shank Installation - 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500- Video
Today in our 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, we're gonna be installing Curt's welded weight distribution shank. This weight distribution shank is gonna give you either a drop or rise, or however you need to install your ball mount for your weight distribution system. It works with a 2" x 2" trailer hitch receiver and has ten bolt holes to allow you to adjust the height for your weight distribution system. It's a powder coated steel so it's resistant against corrosion, so you can ensure it's gonna last a long time. It has a weight capacity of up 1,500 pounds. And that completes our installation of Curt's welded weight distribution shank on our 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. more

To determine which one you need for your vehicle, you'll measure your screen diagonally from corner to corner.And this is what our camera looks like when it's installed. Roadmaster Universal Brake Monitor Installation - 2014 Chevrolet Malibu- Video
Today on our 2014 Chevrolet Malibu we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Universal Brake Monitor, part number RM-9530. And to help ups with our installation we're going to be also installing the Roadmaster Universal stop light switch kit part number RM-751000. So here is what our monitor is going to look like once we have everything hooked up. On the motorhome side it's just into this small box and we're going to have a power cord and be completely portable so if we need to move to another motorhome or we're not using it we can unplug it and put it in a storage compartment somewhere. And what our monitor is going to do is it's going to monitor the braking activity on our towed vehicle so that way we can easily see it with these lights right here and an audible alert to know exactly what's going on that way it prevents us from having to look at our rear-view camera looking for a small light that's going to be on the dash or the rear view of our towed vehicle.This is going to be a lot easier to see we're not going to have to strain in those high light situations, the middle of the day where the light on the dash may not come on that bright. We'll have our lights right here close to us and whenever we press on the brake pedal on our motorhome the yellow lights going to come on underneath brake letting us know the towed vehicles brakes are applied and when we release them the light will go out letting us know that the brakes are released on the towed vehicle. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2013 Chevrolet Express Van- Video
Today on our 2013 Chevrolet Express Van, we're gonna be installing Tekonsha's Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller, part number TK90160. And to help us complete this installation, we'll be using etrailer's universal installation wiring kit, part number ETBC7. This brake controller's gonna provide you with proportional braking for your trailer. And unlike some brake controllers, it doesn't have to be mounted completely level, it can be mounted 90 degrees up or down, which gives you a lot more options on where you could mount your brake controller. On the brake controller itself, you'll have an LCD display to output whether it's connected or not. "NC" would indicate not connected and just a "C", like we have here, shows that we are connected. more

Demco Hijacker Underbed Rail and Kit Installation - 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500- Video
Today on this 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, we're going to review and install the Underbed Rail Installation Kit for a Demco Hijacker UMS fifth wheel and gooseneck trailer hitches, part number DM8551010.This is what the rails look like when they're installed under the truck. You can see we got the two cross rails going from left to right, and they sit on the frame below the bed. Let's check out on the bed of a truck, and we have our hitch already in place. It's kind of integral for installation by the way, but we take a look down here. All we have is four holes drilled in the bed, two inch diameter holes, very easy to do, and your hitch sits right in there. The big plus about this setup is, is that when you take your hitch out, you have full access to your bed.Now these base rails will fit a variety of Demco products, including all the auto slide pitches they offer. more
