Troubleshooting Trailer Running Lights that Lose Connection and Stop Working
Question:
I purchased and installed the Bargman gooseneck wiring harness in August 2014. Installation was easy. It worked fine on the first few trips. Just took a 300+ mile trip and noticed the connection for the driving lights was lost about half way. Stopped and checked the plug - had come a little loose. I made sure connection was all the way in and cover latched over the trailer connection. Came loose again about 100 miles later. The trailer connection never did this with my old truck. I located the new plug near the rear of the bed so its easily reached from the tailgate. Only thing I can think of is air turbulence. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.. - 2014 Silverado 3500 DRW longbed with 2013 Montana 3100rl.

It sounds like the problem you are experiencing is because of corrosion on the trailer connector. If only the one function goes out while driving that would indicate that the issue is related to an intermittent connection on that circuit. This problem is almost always corrosion related.
Use some fine grit sandpaper or a wire brush so make sure all of the trailer connector pins are totally clean and free of corrosion so that the connection is good on all of the trailer connectors.
