Troubleshooting Firestone Coil Rite on 2006 RAV4 that Leaks
Question:
Ive had these installed on my RAV for a few years and they have served sell but Ive have had intermittent leaking problems. Each time that I have lost pressure, I found the lower valve protector plate has moved to a position that presses the valve release ring allowing the air to escape. This may happen when the car is on a lift or because the bag is too high in the coil. Are alternate lower protectors available that either sit recessed in the control arm to limit moving or have the center hole altered to avoid pressing the valve ring? I had thought Id remove and modify them myself. I did see someone with a SantaFe had a simular problem using RTV to hold it. Can you suggest something to resolve this or have additional information? Thank you in advance

I believe your best option would be to do what the customer who left us a comment about the RTV did. I would recommend you use the RTV sealant to attach the spacer plate to the bag.
Another issue that causes these bags to leak is if the air lines aren't cut perfectly square. For a product used to make perfectly square cuts I would recommend the part # AL10530.
