Can a 5th Wheel Hitch be Installed in a 2014 Dodge Ram with Rambox

Question:

Is there a fifth wheel that can be used in a 2014 dodge Laramie longhorn with a ram box to pull a fifth wheel holiday trailer thanks.

The issue with the Rambox is that the manufacturers of hitches and installation kits have not tested for fit on models with the Rambox. The issue is the bed is more narrow on models that have the Rambox feature.

We have heard customers who have installed 5th wheel hitches in Rambox models. But they have to use Sidewinder replacement pin boxes to move the trailer pivot point back so as not to hit the stock pin box against the bed sides. I have linked the Sidewinder information page to the right.

While customers have said this works the manufacturers still have not tested and thus cannot confirm it.

For a 2014 Ram 1500 you can use installation kit # RP30035-386. If using a Sidewinder pin box, you would need a fixed hitch, not a slider. If you like the Curt E16 then the fixed version is # C16115.
