Will Reese Weight Distribution System Clear Rear Bumper Of 1999 Ford E-350 Van

Question:

Hi, Im looking at the Reese Strait line weight distributing system RP66084 . Heres my question. I have a 1999 Ford E350 Extended van. The hitch is tucked way up under the step bumper, with a dimension of 8 inches from the center of the pin hole to the back edge of the bumper. I would be using this hitch with about a 4 inch rise. I dont see this dimension on the listing. Will the upright clear my bumper?

I went to the warehouse and measured the distance between the holes on the Strait-Line Weight Distribution System, part # RP66084. I have attached a photo of the shank with the head attached that has the dimensions noted. The distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball mount at 14 inches will clear your bumper by 6 inches.

This weight distribution system is designed for tongue weight between 600 and 1,200 lbs and has a gross towing weight capacity of 12,000 lbs. I have attached a couple of helpful articles about weight distribution and determining tongue weight you can check out.

The height adjustment for the shank is 6-1/2 inches rise from the top of the hitch receiver opening and the maximum drop is 1-1/4 inches from the top of the receiver. Since you said you need 4 inches of rise and the shank can be adjusted between the 1-1/4 and 6-1/2 inches, you should have no problem at all.

For hitch balls I recommend part # A-90 for a 2 inch ball and part # 19286 for a 2-5/16 inch hitch ball.
