First, the two sets of Titan Tire Chains that you referenced, Chain Cable type # TC2029 and Twist Link type # TC2229, are both fits for your 2011 Ford Escape with 235/70-16 tires.

Tire chains vary considerably in their design, cost, ease of installation and effectiveness. Also, certain passenger vehicles are limited to a specific low-clearance type of chain, termed S-Class chains, such as the # TC2029. Note that the other twist-link chains # TC2229 are NOT S-Class compatible.

I suggest you start out by checking your owner's manual for any guidance/restrictions on the use of tire chains on your Escape. If your manual (or dealership) indicates that you can use only S-Class chains then the link provided at right will show you only S-Class options. You may also want to review the two articles I have linked which will give you lots of background and help you decide on your best option. For a 2WD vehicle first priority is to place one set on the drive wheels; you can still add a second set for the non-driven wheels if you like.

I will offer you a touch of general advice which comes from me having recently completed a training course on tire chains. The easier a chain is to install the more likely it is that it will get used and provide the safety benefit for which you are buying it in the first place. Put another way, a basic low-cost chain is a lot tougher to install than some of the more advanced, and naturally more costly types. If you are getting these for the unlikely "just in case" purposes then you might be content with cable chains like the Titans, but if your locale and winter conditions really merit use of tire chains then I suggest you go for better chains that are easier and quicker to install (while you have snow blowing up your sleeves and down your neck!).

From among the S-Class chains shown on the link I suggest you consider spending just a bit more to get an item like the Titan # TC2319. These feature a strong manganese-nickel alloy, square links for good bite on ice and integrated rubber tensioning straps. This chain offers a good balance of features and cost. Please refer to the linked video for illustration.
