Front Axle Suspension Kit for 1998 Jeep TJ to Support Use of Snowplow

Question:

I have a 1998 Jeep Wrangler TJ with the 4 cylinder. I would like to use a small snowsport plow with a winch on the front, however my Jeep reaches the bottom of the suspension travel very quickly with weight on the front. My suspension is stock and I want to leave it as stock as possible, however I would like to stiffen up the front springs when I have the plow on it. What product or springs would you recommend?

A front-axle suspension enhancement kit for your 1998 Jeep TJ is an excellent idea if you will be using a snowplow/winch set-up. We offer a range of suitable products whose fits will depend on whether your TJ is 4WD or 2WD. We offer several options if 4WD and one if 2WD.

If you have a 4-wheel-drive TJ a great option that is cost-effective and simple to install is the Super Springs # CSS-1168F. This kit consists of two microcellular polyurethane foam springs that insert between the turns of your front coil springs. These install easily and require zero maintenance.
When your front suspension is under load these will stiffen the front suspension with progressive resistance, but otherwise they will not alter your ride quality - a very good thing indeed. You can easily return the vehicle to stock by removing these.

If you have a 2-wheel-drive TJ then you have an air bag option, kit # AL80702 from Air Lift. These also install inside your front coil springs and allow for independent manual inflation. It is necessary to ensure that the air bags always have at least 5-psi pressure in them, and their maximum capacity is 35-psi. We also offer the Air Lift Load Controller II Compressor System # AL25592 if you wish to add remote automated pressure adjustment to both air bags. This option is shown in the linked video. For an air bag kit we suggest using the Air Lift Air Hose Cutter # AL10530 to help ensure clean leak-free hose connections.

No suspension enhancement kit can increase your TJ's weight carrying capacity and all are intended for use with suspensions that are in good working order.
