4-way to 7-way Adapter Recommendation for a 2001 BMW X5 Towing Boat Trailer with Surge Brakes

Hi, I have a 2001 BMW X5 and am looking for confirmation that the Hopkins #47185, 7 Blade and 4 flat adapter, is the correct choice to adapt from the 119250KIT to a 7 blade connection. I have surge brakes on the trailer and need to have the reverse/brake lockout functionality. Thanks

I believe you are referencing # 37185, is also known as the part number 47185B. This would work to convert the 4-way of the Trailer Wiring harness part # 119250KIT to a 7-way.

To activate the reverse light circuit of the 7-way so that it will activate the reverse lock out of the surge actuator on your trailer you would need to run the purple wire of the # 37185 to the reverse light circuit of your 2001 BMW X5.
