How to Flat Tow a 2007 Chevy HHR Behind a Motor Home with a Blue Ox Aventa Tow Bar

Question:

I have a 2007 HHR Chevy, the Blue Ox base plate number is BX1692. My question is, will a BX7330 Aventa tow bar, manufactured by Blue OX work together? If so, I would need to know part numbers and price on the accessories needed for the light hook up and anything else I would need.

Yes, the Aventa tow bar is compatible with the Blue Ox base plates # BX1692 on your Chevy HHR.

In addition to the tow bar and base plates, you will need safety cables, # BX88196, if you do not already have some.

For lighting you can use a simple magnetic kit such as # RM-2120. Or you can use a kit that plugs in line with the vehicle tail light wiring, # HM56100.

It looks like you will need to pull fuses to flat tow your HHR. Check the owners manual to confirm. To make this process as easy as flipping a switch use fuse bypass # RM76511.

And finally, most states now require supplemental braking on the vehicle being flat towed. One of the easiest systems to set up and use is the Even Brake proportional system # RM-9400. It will apply the HHR brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the easiest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.

You will also need stop light switch kit # RM-751428 and 12 volt outlet kit # RM-9332 for the braking system to work properly.

Be sure to consult your HHR owners manual for specific information on flat towing the vehicle. I have also included some helpful links to our series of help articles on flat towing for you.
