To determine the functions of the wires on your 1993 Dodge Ram Van you will need to use a circuit tester, such as # PTW2992, to test them. There isn't a standard wiring color/function code and manufacturers can use any color they want, even amongst models of the same model year. This makes testing necessary.
A brake controller will have the following functions: white is ground, black is 12-volt power in, blue is output to the trailer brakes, and red is input from the brake switch.
