Replacement Lead Leg for RV Landing Gear

Question:

I have a 2006 Forest river Flagstaff 26foot 5th wheel. Model # 8524 RLS. I need a replacement lead landing leg. I am not sure if I need a LG 179013 or a LG 177202. The black portion of the landing gear is 29 !/2 inches long. This is an electric jack. The picture of the 177202 looks like the same jack, but it is 33 1/2 inches long. How do you measure these and where do I find the part Number. The number on the metal top cap on the leg is VMC900R- 166423

The Stromberg Carlson Replacement Lead Jack w/ Drop Leg # LG-179013 that you referenced, is a direct replacement part for jacks from Stromberg Carlson, Lippert and Atwood. It is very likely that Forest River used landing gear from one of these companies. Usually part numbers for a jack will be found stamped into the outer tube near the bottom.

This part's outer tube does measure 29-1/2-inches tall. This part is compatible with both hand-crank and motorized landing gear and should work fine for you.
