Is Sway Control Needed for a 2006 Dodge Ram Towing 1977 17 Foot, 3,000lb Layton Trailer

2006 dodge quad cab, short bed, big horn edition, 5.7 V8 automatic 1977 17foot Layton travel trailer. 3,000 lbs Do I need a hitch with sway bars?

A trailer of any size can sway and even if it does wag the trucks tail it could still be unsafe. Using a sway control bar such as # 83660 would be a good idea. You would need only one since the trailer weighs 3,000 pounds and is just 17 feet long.

You will likely also need bracket # RP26003 which fits on a Class III or IV ball mount and provides a spot for the small ball included with the friction sway control bar.
